Brisbane 23/7/2012 – Part 1

Posted on August 13, 2012January 9, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on Brisbane 23/7/2012 – Part 1

WOW! It’s been awhile huh? ;p Was busy with lots of things lately and was sick last weekend -.-”

So on the second day, we headed out to Dreamworld at Gold Coast. Luckily my friend’s housemates wanted to go too, so they drove. Else, it would be extremely expensive to go there via public transport. What’s more we’re on extremely tight budget. Spent about $110 for annual unlimited access pass as it allows access to Dreamworld, Whitewater World, and Skypoint. Should just buy the day pass because there’s no way to play at Whitewater World, it’s damn cold! Due to miscommunication oh well… Maybe I’ll get to go again before the pass expires in June 2013.

It took us about 45 minutes or less (if not mistaken) to drive there from Brisbane.

Frankly, I was a bit disappointed with it. It’s not as grand as I thought. Anyway, paid so much, might just enjoy it as much as possible even though it didn’t live up to my expectation.

Left: The place selling all the sweets and chocolates.
Right: The first ride, The Claw! OMG! Damn scary! It’s insane of us to go on such ride as a start. The scariest of all! I screamed like crazy and didn’t even dare to open my eyes. Sswinging at up to 75 km/h and spinning 360 degrees!

Left: Wipeout, my second ride. Another high thrill one. This wasn’t as scary as Claw. I opened my eyes througout the whole ride. In fact I rather enjoyed it except during the time we were hanging upside down ;p

After that, went on a medium thrill ride and it was much scarier than Wipeout, screamed my heart out -.-” Made me giddy too. It’s called the Reef Rider, no photo of it though.

Right: Then, it was Shockwave. This is a piece of cake.

Left: Then we walked around Shrek’s Faire Faire Away.
Right: Saw Kung Fu Panda at Po’s Kung Fu Gardenand took a photo with him. Too bad this section wasn’t completed yet.

We then headed to see the tigers at Tiger Island . My first time seeing real tigers! The babies, they’re huge even though only few months old.

The presentation by the tigers.

Next, we went to get our annual pass and few more rides, to be continued…

Played with Photo Apps

Posted on August 9, 2012August 7, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Played with Photo Apps

I was so bored and need a break from the reading the accounting lecture slides last weekend. Guess what I did?

I downloaded so many phone apps for photos and tested them out.

Downloaded InstaCam, PuriClub, Phototantastic, and SuperCamera for Windows Phone. You can see the original here:

Just another reason for me to post my vain photos which I haven’t been doing for quite awhile. All these photos were taken this year during autumn and winter.

I Graduated! Yet I Forgot…

Posted on August 7, 2012 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on I Graduated! Yet I Forgot…

I totally forgot that today is supposed to be my graduation ceremony for my graduate diploma ;p Since I opted not to attend it this time, I didn’t bother about the date and didn’t realize it also even though I got to know that my friends are attending the ceremony and it’s also their ceremony hahaha… I only remember when one of my friends mentioned that she saw my name in the list hahaha…

I went over after the ceremony to take photos with my friends… Too bad quite a number of friends are not here for it as they are back in their home country already.

Today is such a lovely day, not too cold, not too hot. It’s still winter though but it’s 19 degree Celcius out there! That explains why I wore so little. *LOL* Lucky for them. Mine will be in summer, it’s gonna be soooo hot!

Two of my close friends from China, Eva and Carolyne.

Left: Ling is from Hong Kong, did some volunteer work together in uni.
Right: Cissy, Eva, and Lisa. Lisa is one of the frequent users of the postgrad computer barn.

Left: Cissy is also one of my close friend here.
Right: Gabby, we met in Busan during the cultural exchange.

Qing and I with Carolyne. Both Qing and I were supposed to be in this ceremony but we missed it because we changed our program. At least I’m official graduated with my graduate diploma and should be attending this ceremony (waiting for the certificate to be posted to me) but she hasn’t as she changed hers to double masters, means will only graduate mid next year. By then, we are likely won’t be taking photos with her as almost all of us graduated and no longer in Adelaide. Maybe I will… *Finger crossed* I’m considering a PhD hahaha…

Anyway, I will attend the one in December for my master degree ;p Family won’t be here, most friends won’t be around by then, some will go back home for holiday and some will be back home for good. Someone promised me that he’ll be there, let’s just see by then.

Congrats to everyone who graduated!

Future Leaders Recognition Award 2012

Posted on August 4, 2012August 4, 2012 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Future Leaders Recognition Award 2012

I got back from Brisbane on 25th July morning, just in time to join the Future Leaders Recognition Award 2012 in the evening. It’s just a night to appreciate the volunteers’ efforts of UniSA division of business. I’m one of them. First time attend such ceremony ;p Hehehe… Everyone dressed up in business attires.

Was asked to join the organising committe for this event but I couldn’t because I was away in Brisbane. However, I did contribute ideas to them. On the night itself, was asked to be the photographer. Heavy DSLR *LOL* oh well… Setting was already set, all I need to do was be at the spot to aim and shoot. Easy peasy ;p

Future Leaders Recognition Award 2012.

Left: Me with my award. Photo from the official camera. Since I’m the one handling the camera, I used my own camera and took a snap of this photo in the official camera hahaha… Else, I don’t think I will have any photo of myself getting the award hehehe…

Middle: I started the night with blood orange soft drink. Then after the award ceremony, I had two glasses of moscato ;p free flow alcohol! The best thing about this type of university event is free food and alcohol (wine, champagne, beer, and cider). I never pay for alcohol here, I always got mine for free. Of course, I only drank a bit. Most of the time, I did not have them especially if I’m at the event alone.

Right: People hanging out after the award ceremony.

Some of the food for the night.

At about 9pm, we called it a night. Got my certificates and letter of recommendation for volunteering.

Brisbane 22/7/2012 – Part 2

Posted on August 2, 2012January 9, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on Brisbane 22/7/2012 – Part 2

After South Bank, we headed to the CBD via Citycat.

Left: The casino.
Right: Random view in the CBD.

We went to David Jones’ food court for its spicy beef noodle ($6.50) which was recommeded by my friend. It wasn’t bad for the price.

Then we headed to Fortitude Valley aka Chinatown of Brisbane via train. ARG! Just realized I didn’t save the photos of the Chinatown arch for this post. It felt like pasar malam in Malaysia and the area is not a place I would want to be, just didn’t have good feeling when I’m there. I still prefer the Chinatown of Adelaide, clean, cosy and small.

Oh… See the bicycles? It’s everywhere. You have to be a member to be able to ride them if I’m not mistaken.

After Fortitude Valley, we headed back to Myer where Beach House is located. My friends had pre-dinner drink here and we killed our time here while waiting for dinner time.

By the way, see Starbucks? It’s not a common sight to see it in Australia, only major cities. Used to have it in Adelaide but close shop years back due to different coffee culture and they expanded too fast.

Dinner time! Funny Funny here we come. A Korean restaurant. I felt as if I’m in Korea here.

Left: Beer, the only glass I had. This is the only beer I’m willing to drink ;p Didn’t drink the soju, just wetted my tongue with it, damn strong!
Right: Yummy side dishes!

Left: Spicy seafood and beg soup served in hotpot (medium-$27). Very spicy indeed! However, it tasted as if there’s so much MSG in it.
Right: Tuna in kimchi soup served in hotpot (medium-$27), not spicy at all but didn’t like tuna cooke this way.

Food portion was huge! Fed 6 people and could feed two more too. Side dishes were refilled for free. Paid only $9 for this dinner. Worth it!

After dinner, we called it a night, it was so tiring.
