Perth 3-7 Nov 2014: Part 1

Posted on November 16, 2014November 23, 2014 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Perth 3-7 Nov 2014: Part 1

One week ago, I was in Perth. Now that I’m back, it’s time to get this post going.

It was quite a drama before the flight. I booked my ticket months ago but I never realized I need to apply ETA. Of all the times I went in and out of OZ without issue was because I was on my student visa. I totally forgot that now I do not have this luxury anymore.

When I check-in, the staff at the check-in counter inform me that I need ETA. I was shocked! It was 1 1/2 hour before flight. Luckily they told me I can apply ETA on the spot. MY gosh! Good thing I brought my laptop along and thank God for Starbucks free WiFi. Sorry Starbucks for using your WiFi without buying anything from you. Applied for it on the spot with AUD20 payment via credit card and I’m good to go! All done in less than 15 minutes. Thank God for everything! If it’s other country, I’m dead meat, all my money will just gone down the drain from flight ticket to hotel to tours! What’s more, it’s not only my money but my travel mate’s too! She did ask me about it the night before flight and I assured her that we can just go without visa. -.-

Left: Safely arrived KLIA2. Very confusing airport, not enough signage. Luckily we have ample time to navigate our way to international terminal. Before that, we had our dinner at Uncle Lim’s. Ordered the porridge, goodness! Blardy salty and the seasoning was overwhelming that we had to request for hot water to dilute it. Diluted it with one whole mug of hot water but it’s still too salty. Made us so thirsty after the dinner.

Right: Almost slept the way to Perth, good thing no one sat next to me but still not comfortable enough to sleep. The chair wasn’t comfortable. What to expect when you got no-frill cheap tickets and every single thing has to be charged when flying Air Asia? Trying to save as much cost as possible, who to blame but myself. Luckily it’s less than 6 hours flight, if more than that, it would be hell! However, once we’re almost there, we’re greeted by sunrise! Beautiful! Hello OZ sun! I miss you!

First food in Perth, breakfast in the airport while planning our next step once we’re out of the airport.

We stayed at Goodearth Hotel (195 Adelaide Terrace, Perth City Center, Perth, Australia 6004), was lucky to be able to get early bird deal AUD100+/night. If I booked few days earlier it’s less than AUD99/night. Still consider a good deal because it’s in the CBD! Walking distant to many places. It’s an apartment some more! Spacious and clean. Can fit 4 adults some more. The sofa can be transformed to bed. Very happy with it. Just one downside is that no early check-in allowed and check-out time is 10am. However, it didn’t affect us because we check-out extremely early in the morning, 2.30am!

Since we can’t go into our room, we ventured out to find places and started our shopping! This is the only free & easy day. The next four days were going with the tours.

Photos taken along the way…

Murray Street reminded me of Rundle Mall in Adelaide.

We also headed to Harbour Town and glad I went there, I managed to get 2 dresses for AUD30. Just too bad we didn’t have enough time to spend there. We went there using CAT, the free bus. See the grey bus with black cat in the photo? That’s the free bus that’s looping around the city. There’s 3 lines, so you have to plan your journey.

Christmas decorations are already up and the day was very sunny. Was tanned even on the first day out.

At night, we decided to visit the casino for dinner. Not for gambling. Was looking to try out the steak there, found offer there but I forgot the name of the eatery. Didn’t expect it’s inside the Crown Perth Casino. The photo here is the hotel lobby. Interesting architecture. One thing that got my attention, you actually can see people walk into their room, not your usual hotel design.

We saw Market & Co after alighted the taxi and I assumed this is the place. When I saw the menu, I thought maybe they changed the offer (AUD13.99 per dish) and didn’t bother to ask further as we’re too hungry. Just settled with whatever we came across. The steak should be Junction Grill inside the casino.

Left: It’s so filling! Cannot underestimate what you’re seeing. Love the Wagyu Beef Burger, Guyere cheese, lettuce, tomato, jelapeno relish, and fries. The fries was perfect too!

Right: Seared fresh fish of the day, pumpkin and spinach ragout, roasted beetroot puree. This was awesome too!

Overall, the meal was great! However, I would be more satisfied if I get to eat the steak. Didn’t get to eat any steak and Vietnamese pho this trip due to unforeseen circumstances. Hopefully next time.

That’s the end of our first night in Perth. Extremely cold night, was wearing all my autumn clothes that I wore back in Adelaide *LOL*. Day time was rather cold too.

Day 2 will come soon…

Holika Holika – Naked Face Foundation Powder SPF26 PA+

Posted on November 10, 2014November 12, 2014 By sweet surrender No Comments on Holika Holika – Naked Face Foundation Powder SPF26 PA+

Finally I finished up my foundation and I decided to try some Korean product. Ended up buying from Holika Holika. It was less than RM100, don’t remember the actual price, it was on offer, it was around RM80+. Was told that it provides all-in-one function. Because I’m just too lazy, especially in the morning, so I only want one base that can act as everything from foundation to powder to sunscreen.

The coverage is quite sheer, can’t cover much blemishes. So if you have lots of scar to cover, this alone won’t be enough.

The powder is very loose and light. The colour suits my skin just nice. Only one colour to choose, one colour for all skin colour because it is very sheer.

For those who wants to gonatural, I will recommend this.

The downside is that the holes dispense not much powder, therefore you have to keep dispensing and add more on your face until you achieve the coverage you want or to cover the whole face. It can take quite a fair bit of time.

Other than that, so far so good for me, doesn’t break me out. Quite like the puff too.

Hello Perth!

Posted on November 3, 2014November 2, 2014 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Hello Perth!

By the time you read this, I should be in Perth already. An impromptu trip. Booked the ticket on impulse *LOL* Gonna be away from work for a week. Wish can be longer, the actual days in Perth is only 5 days, very rush trip. Oh well… Better than nothing.

Since this trip is short, I had signed up with the local tours for the whole 5 days. Most of the tours are F&B related. Gonna eat and drink a lot hahaha… There’s no luxury of time to discover the place myself. Never been to Perth even though was in Adelaide for almost 2 years, too expensive to fly there. Now back to OZ. I never thought that I will be going back to down under so soon. It was just last year March I came back. Life is so unpredictable.

Hopefully I’ll be refreshed after this trip and ready to conquer the world again!

Till then, take care!

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

Posted on October 30, 2014October 25, 2014 By sweet surrender No Comments on NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil, something I bought during the opening of Sephora. No idea what to get and ended up getting this.

Was thinking on which colour to get and I ended up getting gold. Lately, I love gold colour so much my everyday eye colour, blame it on Kate *LOL*. I don’t remember the price, it’s quite affordable. If not mistaken, it’s below RM20.

You can use it as eyeshadow, as base for eyeshadow, or liner. It depends on my mood. Most of the time I used it as eyeshadow or eyeliner. Smooth application, glides effortlessly, and colour is rich.

Don’t expect too much. It doesn’t last; it smudges; and easily rub off. I knew it when I bought it as I tested it. Hence, I bought gold colour because it’s not obvious if it smudges. However, I do love the colour. I was torn between white and pink. Come to think of it, I should go for white so that I can use it as the base for those eye shadows I have that aren’t pigmented enough.

Also, one more thing, the plastic cover is just too fragile.

I won’t recommend this product. I bought it for the sake of using up the cash voucher.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

Posted on October 25, 2014October 26, 2014 By sweet surrender No Comments on Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

I got Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner from Zalora because of the voucher given to me for attending Zalora press function last month.

I decided to give it a go on Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. It is priced at RM65. I won’t even think of buying eyeliner at this price, if not for the voucher. This is because I’m afraid that it won’t work and spending RM65 for it will be a waste. My eye makeup smudged a lot! Hence, it’s not easy for me to decide on what to buy especially mascara and eyeliner.

Slim body, great for my small hand to handle.

The felt tip, just what I like! Very fine, very easy to control. Can go to the corner of the eyes without mess. No tugging too. It just glides on with no effort. Since the tip is very fine, it is great for drawing very fine line or build up to thick line. Great for drawing cat eye and easily goes on the waterline too.

Smudges a little after 9 hours, just very little, not much of an issue for me. However, it’s 100% waterproof! Didn’t even budge after my 2 hours swim! Removing it is a little difficult as it some what smeared all over the lid. I’m fine with it though. To me, the most important is smudge proof and waterproof.

Certainly will repurchase. Price is a bit high but if the quality is good, why not? Let’s see how long this liner will last me with almost daily use.
