Sarawak Inter-Cultural Moon Cake Festival 2010

Posted on September 20, 2010September 24, 2010 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Sarawak Inter-Cultural Moon Cake Festival 2010

The annual Sarawak Inter-Cultural Moon Cake Festival 2010 is here. It started on 17th September. As usual, it’s held at Carpenter Street.

It will end on 22nd September, it’s quite short don’t you think? I remember last time it lasted at least a week. The lanterns showcased at the temple at the main road.

Left: Chinese musical instrument performance at the smaller temple along the street.

Right: Heading to the Harmony Arch.

Left: Mock Malay wedding.

Right: A man in traditional costume playing the sape.

The stage is located at the old Court House. Didn’t walk till there, took the photo from afar. Notice the stage backdrop? ;p Can you see anything not right?

Something interesting… Ice cream + fish cracker, how do you think the taste is going to taste like? Bought one, RM2 per cone. Hmm… Very creative. Taste wise, salty and sweet, wasn’t that bad but it’s just weird to pair these two together.

If you haven’t go to Sarawak Inter-Cultural Moon Cake Festival 2010, you have to go as soon as you can as it will end on 22nd September.

The Sky Today

Posted on September 11, 2010September 11, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on The Sky Today

The sky today… Very nice sunset. This time, the location is different, not from my window but from Sarawak General Hospital.

While waiting for my parents(went there for a visit), my bro and I loitered around the ground floor.

Left: Taken from a corner of the hospital. To take this picture, my phone fell out of my pouch when I pulled my camera out. It hit the wall and bounced to the floor hard but luckily it’s still one piece. Also it didn’t fall out of the railing, the place was inaccessible phew…

Right: We walked to the car park, looked up the sky and there you go… If only it’s a complete smiley face.

Went there to hunt for dinner again few days back. Took some photos to share.

Left: The gourmet sausages that were selling like hot cakes.

Right: The stall selling pork.

Left: The stall selling Teochew food.

Right: Sculpting with caramel. Very interesting.

Just a quick short post.

So, are you planning to go there today? It’s the last day.

Kuching Festival 2010 (5)

Posted on August 18, 2010August 19, 2010 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Kuching Festival 2010 (5)

Went to hunt for dinner last Sunday at Kuching Festival.

Left: Gourmet Sausage, you have to queue quite long to buy the sausages, I think this is the most popular stall of all. The first time when I was there, there wasn’t such queue. I guess it’s because it’s good that’s why many people went there to buy it. I didn’t buy it till now, tasted it though. The texture is quite different I must say. Even the takoyaki stall next to it need to queue up too.

Right: You char kueh and some other Chinese kueh, this stall is operated by the same people that selling you char kueh at Sunday Market.

Left: Jellyfish(RM5), very big portion, got this from a new stall. We used to buy it from another stall and the portion was quite little compare to this. However, this one that we bought wasn’t very nice.

Right: More food…

Left: Deep fried mushroom from another stall. Bought it for RM5/box. I think this was nicer and crispier.

Right: We will surely never miss sambal sting ray. Wanted to get it from the usual stall but no more stock so we bought from another stall. The sambal wasn’t spicy enough but not that bad.

Only bought few types of food, some not in the photos and this dinner cost us about RM50. It’s really not that cheap to buy food from Kuching Festival hehehe… Usually if RM50 we would have quite a decent meal in a restaurant for 4 of us.

Just for your information, Kuching Festival 2010 will end this weekend end. Hurry if you haven’t visit it yet. Not sure will I be going there or not within this week. We’ll see…

Kuching Festival 2010 (4)

Posted on August 10, 2010August 10, 2010 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Kuching Festival 2010 (4)

Hehehe… Supposed to post this yesterday ;p

Better late than never hehehe… There’s a mini fun fair for the children at the end of the fair. I forgot to include this in the previous post.

Let’s see some of the food I had with my friends the other night. These are just some as my battery was flat towards the night.

Left: Pineapple rice from one of the stall selling Thai food.

Right: Noodle from no-idea-where ;p I didn’t buy any of the food because coincidently my shoes gave up on me that day hahaha… I was the princess that night, they bought all the food, I sat there and wait for my food *LOL*

Left: Deep fried sio bee.

Right: Taiwanese salted crispy chicken.

Left: Deep fried mushroom.

Right: Didn’t get to try this, so many people lining up for it. It rained too. This is a kind of durian delicacy. The one they’re making could be durian crepe. For the first time you can find durian in Kuching Festival! You will not miss it because the smell of the durian is quite strong ;p I wonder how the foreigners can accept this hehehe…

Hmm… When will be my next trip there?
