Ethical Hacking, Hack Legally

Posted on June 8, 2009June 23, 2009 By sweet surrender No Comments on Ethical Hacking, Hack Legally

We all know that hacking is bad. It causes a lot of problems to businesses and end users. You might risk getting your confidential data stolen or might get your system go crazy. Everyone hates hackers but not those that hack ethically. It’s known as Ethical Hacking.

I’m sure some of you might be surprised about this. Is there such thing as ethical hacking? Yes, it’s very common in ensuring tight IT Security. Ethical hackers help companies identify and fix the loopholes in their systems to ensure users are protected from unethical hackers. If there is no such experts, we will be in very vulnerable state as we rely so much on the Internet.

In fact becoming an ethical hacker is something very interesting. I know some friends of mine are crazy about hacking. They hack to improve security and not to jeopordize security. Most of them do not have special certificate for this, they did it just for the fun of it. However, if you are really interested and would like to be certified, you can sign up for a course to be a Certified Ethical Hacker. This job can pay you really well. If you are certified, you will have better chances of getting hired.

As you know, the economy nowadays is bad and many got retrenched or even pay cut. This is one job that will ensure you will stay on the job and still get paid well because you are very important to the company, they cannot lose you, if they do, they will get themselves into huge trouble!

Besides that, there are also courses such as Security Fundamentals, Penetration Testing, Computer Forensics
, Disaster Recovery, and Secure Programming on offer. All these can pay you really well. I’m sure those who wants to venture into much more exciting IT field will find these very interesting.

As an IT graduate myself, I’m aware of how important these professionals are to the IT industry. I urge you to venture into these fields if you can. There isn’t many professionals like this, do something different and make yourself stand out among tonnes and tonnes of IT graduates. You will stand a better chance to get satisfying job with satisfying salary.

Facebook Games

Posted on May 26, 2009May 26, 2009 By sweet surrender 14 Comments on Facebook Games

I’ve been seeing people playing games in facebook for quite a while and I did not understand and got no interest at all to join in the bandwagon.

Then few days ago, I was feeling not really in the mood to study and then I got nothing much to do, actually there are but I’m demotivated by somebody’s attitude and I’m mentally and emotionally tired. I decided to check out what those games are all about that are making so many people went crazy about. On that fateful day, I too got stuck with the games! OH NO! ;p

First, I tried Restaurant City, this is the most addictive! OH DEAR! You know what I do? I log into the game, supervise a bit, let it runs on its own, and I do my revision. Guess what?!?! I revise better and faster. Weird eh?

Then, when I’m done with a part of my revision, I will check back and see whether there is anything that I need to do to improve my score or just to add something here and there. After that, I will go back to do my revision again.

Hahaha… Before that, my revision pace was so slow but now it’s fast! Actually I’m not the kind that can do my revision in quiet environment and only do revision. I have to watch TV, listen to radio or at least do something else I won’t be able to revise anything.

By the way, seeing them move around is quite fun also. Kinda cute hehehe… I could sometimes stare at the game for minutes to see them move around *LOL*

Next, I tried Happy Farm. Not so addictive but fun enough.

There isn’t much to do but wait for most of the time. You have to wait for your plants to grow and sell them. Once in a while, you will need to kill the weeds and worms or water. Sometimes if I feel a bit restless, then I will go steal some veggies from my friends or help kill the weeds and worms or help watering the plants for my friends.

Lastly, it’s Pet Society. This doesn’t give me much excitement, I think it’s quite boring. You have to keep entertaining your pet else there is nothing much to do. A bit too much work for me since I’m doing my revision. ;p

So that’s all for today. Any plan for this coming weekend and long holiday? All I know is that I will be having exams on this weekend. Then… jiak kaki I guess… How I wish my darling is here with me… Anyone wanna date me? ;p

La Beauté Expo (LBE) 2009

Posted on May 9, 2009May 9, 2009 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on La Beauté Expo (LBE) 2009

Just a quick update on this. I went there last night to catch the stage show, Maison Monica – Makeup Show.

Before we went in, we had to register ourselves. There are many booths not only from local merchants but also from outstation. Kinda impressed with it at first. Later when I reached the stage, it was disappointing -.-”

Anyway, I’m given with TRADE sticker instead of VISITOR hahaha… In fact I was kinda blur actually. Simply filled in the form and left my name card and automatically they gave me this sticker. I should have just tell them I’m there for a visit only ;p Don’t care…

Also got a SISTERS magazine, April issue. I thought it’s May issue duh~ They have 4000 copies to giveaway for first 4000 visitors.

Oh! One good news for Loreal users, go get your products stock up if you want because they are having 20% discount!! Not bad. I would have get something there but I don’t have anything to stock up now so there is no point to buy.

There’s still today and tomorrow. Go check it out if you want.
Date: 8th – 10th May 2009
Time: 10AM – 9PM
Venue: 5th Floor, Permata Exhibition Hall, Kuching, Sarawak

Lots of photos from the stage show to filter, will update about it when I’m free. Having full swing class today -.-” No public holiday for me. As if public holiday got anything to do with me, holiday or not, makes no difference to me now.

Importance of Keywords

Posted on April 30, 2009October 24, 2013 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Importance of Keywords

I always got question from people about how to get traffic to their blogs and my answer to them is always the same, keywords!

I only practice them when I feel like it, I don’t do it in every single post of mine.

Keywords are indeed very important to generate traffic from search engine. You also have to be fast in updating the latest happenings that are of interests to many people.

The theory proves true for many bloggers.

Here you see the evident for my case. I updated the news about the passing of Sarawak Chief Minister’s wife yesterday and instantly I got huge increase of traffic to my blogs.

It’s pretty fun to see the increase of traffic once in a while.

OK… Time for me to get my hair straighten for tonight! ;p

Celcom Broadband

Posted on April 20, 2009April 24, 2009 By sweet surrender 14 Comments on Celcom Broadband

Remember the prize I got from CIMB? I finally got it on 13th April 2009.

They sent me the modem and a cheque. Phew… Luckily they sent the modem because the modem is so expensive. If they only sent me the cheque then I really don’t know whether I should use this service or not as I will have to fork out more than RM300 for a modem to use for one year only. I checked Celcom’s site and it stated that the modem is RM499 or RM799 for original price.

The monthly fee for the broadband isn’t cheap too, RM98/month for 3.6Mbps, at least my one year usage fee is covered. Still… Forking out such money for just the modem really not worth it at all.

Here’s the modem. It can also be used as thumbdrive but I don’t think it’s worth it to buy the micro SD because it’s so expensive! I rather just buy a normal thumbdrive with very big space.

I do not plan to extend after that because I don’t need it at all. Even if I do go traveling, I can easily get free wifi everywhere nowadays. Besides, I won’t spend much time online when I go traveling, having it is just a matter of being convenient to get connected such as in the comfort of your room or anywhere or anytime.

I went to get it activated on 14/4/2009 at Blue Cube, tHe Spring. The people there got quite blurred on what to do and I was also blurred on what I should do that time. Should I pay to activate or not? Luckily I brought the letter from CIMB along and finally they said I don’t have to pay anything. That’s right, you shouldn’t be required to pay for your prize.

After filling in all the forms, they told me I should be able to use it the next day but I didn’t bother to test it out the next day. My bro tested it out with his PC but got no signal at all. We thought they haven’t activate for us so I didn’t bother as it’s free, I was also busy with a project too. I only tried it on 16/4/2009.

When I first tried it out, I got signal but it was very unstable. My MSN got disconnected for don’t know how many times. Once connected, it got disconnected without any chance to let me even see who’s online. It kept switching from one service to another.

I didn’t bother to connect to MSN. I just surfed around with it because only surfing could be done. After one hour later, I tried to connect my MSN and finally there’s no disconnection. It was stable all the way with the auto switching between 3G, GPRS and HSDPA but no disconnection.

The picture you see here is the speed when I was uploading a 30MB+ file and light surfing in my living room, quite an isolated section in the house. Streamyx would take a while only. With this, it took me more than 50 minutes! I kept checking on the uploading because I’m so not use to having such slow upload after many years of using Streamyx.

I’m not saying that Streamyx is good and Celcom broadband is bad as they are two different things. Fixed and wired line is always better than wireless for sure because wireless have to depend on the surrounding and coverage. If coverage is good, then you get good service.

If you are using it at quite an isolated area, the signal is really weak. My bro’s computer totally cannot use Celcom Broadband at all because of the computer location which even mobile phone signal isn’t very good there. Basically, if you have good signal on your mobile phone at one place, this is the best place for you to use wireless broadband.

I tried it in my room which is less isolated and the signal of HSDPA was excellent. I managed to stream some videos on You Tube. Don’t ask me the speed because I forgot to track. If I’m using it in the living room, the signal kept changing from between 3G, GPRS and HSDPA.

The limit of monthly data usage is 5GB, once you reach 5GB, your speed will be reduced for the rest of the month. 5GB is very limited I would say.

The package you take also depends very much on your area because some places only have 3G or GPRS. HSDPA is still not widely available yet and I’m lucky that my area has all 3 of them.

I can’t really give you a good review in this as I never use any other broadband except Streamyx and now Celcom. In fact I’m not fully on Celcom Broadband because when I have big files to download or upload I have to switch back to Streamyx.

Celcom Broadband is just another option for mobile internet to me but I think it might be better than Maxis or Digi because I heard a lot of complains from some friends such as the line can be slower than a dial-up connection and very unstable.

Should you get it or not? If only when you move around a lot and no fixed line at home.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
