Ramadhan Bazaar 2007 @ Dewan Masyarakat

Posted on September 20, 2007September 21, 2007 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Ramadhan Bazaar 2007 @ Dewan Masyarakat

The fasting month started last week and the Ramadhan Bazaars also started at the same time. For the non-Muslims, it’s all about food and more food πŸ˜› *Salivating*

Went to the one at Dewan Masyarakat on Monday evening. It’s not big, quite small scale. I think Satok one will be so much bigger!

The stalls are divided into 3 sections, the section for BBQ, section for kuehs and section for the food such as curries, rendang, nasi lemak and so on.

Nothing to buy there… Wanted to buy some BBQ chicken wings but I don’t understand why this year they all have “red” chickens! Where’re the old school malay BBQ chicken wing??!?!? All I smelt was just smoke. Where’s the sweet aroma gone to??!?! We bought some red chicken wings to try and they were tasteless! You see the photo on the right? The colouring is scary! Imagine eating all these… *SHUDDER*

CatsCity Clique Report – Part 2 – Topspot

Posted on September 17, 2007June 26, 2022 By sweet surrender 23 Comments on CatsCity Clique Report – Part 2 – Topspot

YES! The drama is here! πŸ˜›

So… After Catscity Clique @ Starbucks Coffee @ KIA, we went to Topspot to meet up for dinner at around 7.30pm but most were late about half to one hour that including me :P. We were expecting less than 15 people going and later of the night, -.-” more came and all together, there were 19 of us+1 baby πŸ˜› hahaha…

Since it’s a weekend, Topspot was packed! With the rain summore, we couldn’t sit outside and therefore it’s not easy to find empty tables. So I just asked PlatinumGirl to reserve any place that could fit at least 10 people that she could find.

She finally found 1 at ABC, stall No.10. See! So many people!

Frankly, I’m not familiar with Topspot, this is only my second time there and I have no idea how to order food there and what do’s and dont’s when you’re there(Irene! You called yourself Kuchingites!?!?!? *SMACK*). I don’t eat seafood in Kuching OK!?!?! I only eat at Buntal! πŸ˜› Hence, this is how the drama happened! Good thing, I’m not the only got tricked! It just happened that I’m the one that made the final decision. So you can imagine how tulan I am!

Before that, let’s see what we ate… πŸ˜› All together there were 5 dishes from ABC and each dish we ordered two plates as we have two tables.

Left: Belacan midin, when you come to Kuching or Sarawak, this is a must-eat and many non-locals seem to like it.
Right: Mixed veggies, quite standard.

Left: Butter prawn, the wet style, I preferred the dry one but this isn’t that bad.
Right: Lemon chicken, one plate was wiped off but another plate still left a lot. Everyone was so full!

Left: “Tek ham”, bamboo… I can’t remember the English name, it’s cooked with curry but many people don’t know how to eat this and dont’ like it. So only few of us finished it up.
Right: “O Jien” aka Oyster Omelette. This type is the crispy type, I prefer this type. The wet type is like the one I had at Kuching Festival.

Hehehe… I’m sure you are asking why no drama yet, right? It happened before the lemon chicken and so on arrived.

NOW! You see these “prawns”!!! Ok… Here’s how it went…

A guy came and asked us whether want to try “Special BBQ Prawn” or not. We’re not so sure we want to order or not but this doesn’t matter. He didn’t say that what kind of prawn was it and I swear I didn’t hear he said that it’s BIG prawn! None of us heard it too, we just heard “PRAWN”. OK… We did hear the “big” and “small” but this is for the portion but they didn’t mention that the prawn is that BIG! The length is more than 15cm! When he said “prawn”, we all thought that it should be about the size of like what we had for butter prawn or slightly bigger. So I said to him to give us the small one. The small one as is small portion of the BBQ prawn.

Then, since there were another group arrived, that guy came up and asked whether we want another set or not, of course we have to order another set to be fair to those came later. So, automatically said “YES”.

Then it came! We were shocked with what they served us! We didn’t expect to see this! Then he gave Josh the bill and OH MY… We were so shocked with the total! RM156 for 2.6kg of prawns! Damn expensive OK!?!?! We couldn’t believe that this was the prawn we ordered and the guy said, it was! We said we were not told about it and only told us it’s “prawn”! &@*!%!^@%#@% He said he did mention it’s big prawn and we all(almost 10 of us) swore that none of us heard it! BIG? MY FOOT! DIU! He did say in English, “prawn” but not “big prawn”, then repeated in Hokkien, “hay” but not “dua hay”! So you see? Then… What to do? Josh had to pay for it. -.-” We had to make sure we finished it clean clean… I don’t think this is called big prawn, I think it should have a name for it! He misled us! DAMN IT! We got conned!

Then I went home, I asked around and told Ben about it also and guess what?!!?! Everyone said that it’s overpriced! Even said that those are “scammers”, “cheaters”, “liars”,”conmen”! You should not order from those that came around to ask you to order those BBQ seafood unless it’s from the same stall! Now then I know and it’s an expensive lesson to learn -.-” Poor Josh had to fork out more money… We’re trying help him save money but that stupid prawn… I feel like burning the stall down! Hahaha…

Summore, I also realised that… Whenever I have seafood at Buntal, they will tell us the price of the seafood per kilo and order based on kilo or number of people. At least we were told about the price so that we can decide how much to order but not at ABC and also that blardy scammer, cheater, liar, conman BBQ stall! Too bad I don’t know which stall it is! However… Kuching is small, I’m sure many people will know which stall I’m talking about.

Bloggers, if you know which stall, do let me know! Damn it! I’m going to make them out of business! Not that I’m capable of doing that but when more bloggers talk about it, sure they will die. Try to mess with bloggers? You are stupid! I don’t think they even know that we’re bloggers! WEI! Almost 20 of them there! Then add on with those joined us in the afternoon… You’ll see how’s powerful the Internet is!

Ok… Enough of the drama… πŸ˜› Bloggers… Take photos of food! See the guy on the right? That want to put down the prawn? DIU~

Group photo. Not complete group, we didn’t have any complete group photos as everyone seemed to be tired already and I know I didn’t want to move my butt at all, I’m so full and tired hehehe…

It was a SUCCESS! Thank you everyone! LOVE YOU ALL! MUAKS!

CatsCity Clique Report – Part 1

Posted on September 16, 2007July 18, 2022 By sweet surrender 30 Comments on CatsCity Clique Report – Part 1

Here’s part one of the report. We went there at around 1pm to set the things up. Met up with the store manager, Ezam. Josh arrived later because of missed flight, poor guy had to sleep at McD hahaha… When he arrived, he was wondering where’s Starbucks located at KIA, luckily Georgette found him πŸ˜› KIA is not that big hehehe…

Right: Ben and Frankie claimed their free drinks. It’s only applicable to Azuki, coffee or cream-based. Hmm… Sugar overloaded. It happened that we got the green light to give everyone free drinks and free food(limited to a total of RM200 only).

Everybody mingled around and chilled out.

Left: Josh and I.

Middle: Ehon(see his pants :p new fashion with Advertlets badges!) came early to help too as he’s at the airport that time also. We really need some hands that time, too many people coming at the same time. Good thing he came early and helped us arranged everything. Also he has this very loud voice hahaha… So he’s always the one we turned to for making annoucements *LOL*

Right: Rose and I. We both so petite hehehe… πŸ˜›

It’s trivia session! Whoever wanted to take part, they have to listen to the questions carefully. Whoever got the most correct would win MONEY!! I want also!!! Too bad, Jimmy, Ehon, Ben and I couldn’t play.

It ended up that Naomi and Adrian had to play rock, scissors, paper(“kun chum”) to see who got the grand prize of RM250 credited into their Advertlets account! We thought only for the top 3 but those answered at least one correct also were given the money!

Here’s the result:
1st: Adrian (RM250)
2nd: Naomi (RM150)
3rd: Aaron Chang (RM100)
Consolations: Timothy, Eve, RollsRoyce aka Billy, Emory, Daniel, Alex (RM50/each)

Watch some part of the game hehehe…

Some of the cakes that Ehon, Jimmy and I shared.
Left: American cheescake pretty tough πŸ˜›
Middle: The blackforest a bit too moist…
Right: Tiramisu… This is just nice πŸ™‚
Most right: Azuki… Our free drinks.

Let’s sign…

The group photo. Proper pose.

Let’s have some fun!

There are still more photos but I haven’t get all of them yet. Most people can use these two first, those late comers might have to wait for the other photos. We had two group photo sessions. Photos were taken by Allen

There were 55 people turned up or more. Based on our record, there were 55, there might be some that came and we might have accidentally missed them out. There were so many people around that time and we had to multi-task. Some bloggers were kind enough to help with recording the attendence while we were busy with other things. No matter who you are, thank you πŸ™‚

We ended it earlier, around 5.30pm instead of 6pm because many left already. We had brief lucky draw session. The prizes for the lucky 5 were dinner with Josh and Josh would pay for them. Too bad, all those lucky winners couldn’t join us for dinner except me πŸ˜› Hehehe… I won too! Since there were only some of us around that confirmed joining the dinner, Josh decided to sponsor all of us, there were only about 9 of us that confirmed going that time.

This… I will blog about it in part 2 where we got cheated or would rather say tricked by a stall at Topspot! I’m going to make sure I blog about them gao goa, chao chao! Whoever that were with us that night, if you know about what had happened, let’s blog about them! So that others will not get trick by them too! Revenge time! They don’t know who they’re dealing with hahaha…

Attention: Kuching Bloggers: CatsCity Clique

Posted on September 15, 2007September 15, 2007 By sweet surrender 19 Comments on Attention: Kuching Bloggers: CatsCity Clique

This post will remain the first post until 15th September.

I think there are some misunderstandings with quite a number of people now. I need to clarify here:
1. This registration is for those that want to go. So that we know how much freebies to prepare.
2. The first 50 to register will get free drinks. If you register late, you have to pay for your own drinks but you are entitled to the goodie bags and the activities on that day, except free drink.
I hope this is clear enough.

50 PLACES FILLED

When it reaches 50, you can still register but you will have to pay for your own drinks. You are still entitled to the freebies and activies. WellÒ€¦ Who knows you are one of the lucky winners for the games. You get to know new friends too.

We will be going for dinner after the gathering. Whoever want to join us, just let us know on that day on the spot. The dinner is not sponsored, please pay for your own food and drinks.

Freebies will be given on the spot on first come first serve basis(while stock last), so please come early or on time to entitle for the freebies. Some people might not have any seat as Starbucks can only accommodate only around 50+ people. Do come early. We cannot guarantee freebies or seats for the late comers even if you had registered for the free drinks. You will still have your free drinks but might have to share a seat with others or have to stand.

Attention:
The deadline for registration for free drink is 12th September 2007, 12am. If 50 bloggers had registered before the deadline, then registration will close before the deadline. You are still welcome to register but there won’t be free drinks anymore and you have to pay for your own drinks but you are entitle to the freebies and any activity on that day. Only the first 50 bloggers will get their 1st drink free.

More Update: Had been receiving many questions about this. Please be informed that the free drinks are only for bloggers. If you are thinking of bringing non-blogger friends, they have to pay for their own drinks but they are still entitle to the freebies and activities on that day. This is to be fair to those bloggers that want to be a part of it, if too many non-bloggers joining, those bloggers won’t have the chance to go anymore or they won’t be interersted to join anymore because they can’t get free drinks. I know many people are going for the free drinks but we would encourage more bloggers, priority is given to bloggers.

Update: The first 50 to register will have their 1st drink sponsored. So act fast else you have to pay for your own drinks. First come first serve. We will judge based on the comment’s timestamp to determine the first 50 bloggers that register in Catscity.net, Sweet Surrender or Jimmy Chin’s Diary. The 50 bloggers will be accumulated from these 3 blogs.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
