Sarawak ICT Expo 2008

Posted on August 1, 2008August 2, 2008 By sweet surrender 15 Comments on Sarawak ICT Expo 2008

Went to Sarawak ICT Expo 2008 just few hours ago. Good thing I went today because I could take my sweet sweet time browsed tru’ all the booths that had the things that I needed. If I go tomorrow or Sunday, I don’t think we could even move fast and go back and forth of different booths many many times! πŸ˜› Bargained and bargained, thanks to my sis and Jimmy else I’m hopeless in bargaining. I bought something!!! Tell you later about it hehehe…

They changed the way how you enter the hall which it’s better because it can reduce the congestion. One side in, one side out.

There are more space to move now compare to previously. But at the end of the hall, there is no way to make u-turn, they block it.

No show girls hahaha… πŸ˜› However you can see many colours this year, I mean the uniforms hahaha…

TADA! SEE THIS?!?!

Will blog about it after my exam πŸ˜› You can’t really bargain much for Canon cameras but you can ask them to give more free gifts. Good thing we went today, we could take our sweet sweet time making decision and bargain with them. No installment for cameras below RM1000.

I spent more than RM1K(camera-RM999 and dined out-RM10+) today -.-” I’m RM1K+ poorer now, then tomorrow I have to pay my next semester entrolment fee, which is RM300. After that, on Sunday, I need to go hunt for Cooler Master that costs RM100+ at PC Fair also because I didn’t bring enough cash today and many people told me to wait until Sunday to get cheaper price. *LOL* We’ll see by then, after exam maybe… OMG! Spend almost RM2K in just 3 days -.-“

Bridal and Digital Imaging Fair 2008 At tHe Spring

Posted on July 11, 2008July 13, 2008 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Bridal and Digital Imaging Fair 2008 At tHe Spring

Bridal and Digital Imaging Fair is now at tHe Spring starting from today until Monday. It’s been a long long time don’t cover any event hahaha… Always food, food, food.

Let’s see… I didn’t browse tru’ them one by one, just walked passed as fast as I could as I didn’t want to get “caught” and “dragged” into all the talk that would usually last quite sometimes, also very likely to collect so many brochures that at the end would just create extra rubbish hahaha… I’m not a potential client so might as well don’t waste their time and brochures πŸ˜›

At the entrance near Secret Recipe, there’s two BMW with bridal decotarions, nothing special…

Left: Going in… The ceiling is decorated with sheer fabrics of white, red that have cherry blossoms scatterly sewn, also greeted by some arches.
Right: The camera and electrical appliance section.

Left: One of the bidal studios.
Right: Plan your honeymoon here…

Left: Some balloon decorations by the participating merchant.
Right: Looking for those traditional things that you need for your wedding, e.g the chickens, the pottie(yes! as in the one the kids pee in), the basket, the umbrella, it’s all here.

Left: Looking for food and catering, this is one of them.
Right: Remember to buy a house or property before you get married πŸ˜› Hehehe… Staying with the in-laws is so no fun and torturing hahaha… You know especially the kind where in one small house and there live so many couples(the parent-in-laws, the brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, the kids). *SCREAM HELP* That’s the worst nightmare! It’s just me anyway.

Left: Digital imaging fair so promoting printer is a must hahaha…
Right: Random photos taken from upstair.

Nothing much. πŸ˜› SPAS is there to sell photos for charity, you can go there and have a look, the photo I took was so blur so you can’t see it here. It’s located near Big Apple Donut.

Early Learning Workshop By Dr. Robert Titzer

Posted on June 8, 2008June 12, 2008 By sweet surrender No Comments on Early Learning Workshop By Dr. Robert Titzer

Caught by surprise before my class stared. I had to pay for my textbooks!! It’s photocopied summore! It’s not included in the course fee! *CUSS* Maybe I’ve been away from school for too long. I remember last time my course fee was supposed to cover my textbooks and exams! I wasn’t told about it when I registered! This means I have to add on another RM500+ at least to my course fee’s overall total. I should be told about it earlier, this is the so called hidden cost! Damn! Beware people.

I got sort of last minute invitation to a workshop organised by Poppies at tHe Spring. I was quite shock though to get the invitation because it’s an early learning workshop by Dr. Robert Titzer, PH.D. from the US who is an expert in infant learning. I’m still wondering why I got invited πŸ˜› Hahaha… It might be due to my course that is starting later in the afternoon? Hehehe…

Here’s the material we got for the workshop. Was feeling kinda out of place when almost all those attended are parents! Me? I’m still single and sort of available *LOL*

It’s pretty interesting to know that there’s such big potential in babies to learn something new that will affect their future life. Even had demonstrations with the babies that attended the workshop with their parents.

You can read more about it in irenelaw.net hehehe…

Gawai This Year With Diesel Woe

Posted on June 3, 2008June 3, 2008 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Gawai This Year With Diesel Woe

This year is quite different from the previous years. One obvious different is that both my maternal grandparents are no longer with us. We went back to my mom’s kampung this year for Gawai visiting to visit those relatives that I totally have no idea about. They had helped out during both the funerals and as a gratitude, it’s best to pay them a visit.

While on the way to Serian, dad wanted to refuel the car(we needed diesel) so that we could go visiting to the other kampung later. Guess what!?!? All the petrol stations along the way in Kuching, Shell and Petronas, had no diesel anymore!! *HORROR* Luckily when we’re at Kota Semarahan, we decided to try our luck at the newly opened Shell station. YAY! They had stock. WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON!! AARG!! *ANGRY* Immediately not long after that, more and more vehicles coming in to get diesel -.-” Imagine hunting for diesel all over Kuching and had to go till Kota Samarahan to get it, the agony… If this problem still going on you’ll defintely see all the chaos in Malaysia. Maybe no subsidies of fuel might help? This is not my opinion, I read it from somewhere, don’t remember where. It stated that the subsidies are making it worst. *SHRUG*

My first time visiting so many houses during Gawai and OMG so many unknown relatives I have *LOL*. Just for your information, I didn’t attend both funerals due to some unforeseen circumstances so I’ve never seen most of them. All these years, my parents only brought us to visit those relatives closest to us instead of the further ones. This year is really different and exhausting. The weather didn’t help much too as it’s hot and humid and later in the evening it rained! Had to coat in the rain when we visited the last house and when going back to our car.

Anyway, main aim is to show you the must-have during Gawai besides tuak(rice wine). I’ve never drink any and my mom’s kampung doesn’t have it also because they don’t make it due to their religion. Here are the local delicacies that you will usually see during Gawai.

Left: I’m no sure what people call this :p We call this “beehive” hehehe… The sweetened flour(not sure which type of flour though) batter is placed in a mould and deep fried. It would float out to the oil surface from the mould once it’s cooked.

Right: This is known as kueh jala, jala means net. I would say this is the most popular among the local. These are not made from beehoon/vermicelli, it’s also from sweetened flour(not sure which type of flour though) and the batter is dripped with fast turning motion to make this kind of effect into the hot boiling oil using some sort of sieve, not the normal type of sieve though, it has many small holes, not too far and not too close apart to allow the batter to drip into the oil.

I DON’T KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN!!! πŸ˜› hahaha… But I think you are smart enough to figure out what I’m trying to tell you *LOL*

Found this video, you’ll see how’s the process:

Left: I don’t know what to call this hehehe… Some crispy snacks with peanuts and achovies.

Right: Lemang!! It’s a must too! Glutinous rice cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaf.

That’s all πŸ™‚ Frankly, I don’t really like to eat them hahaha… A bit can, not too much *BLEK*

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
