7 Ultimate Guide About Health Checks For Women

Posted on July 25, 2024September 4, 2024 By sweet surrender No Comments on 7 Ultimate Guide About Health Checks For Women

Being a woman is not easy. She does not only carry the duty of being a daughter, mother and wife in the family. Women of today also play a significant role in society such as being the leader of the community and attained great success in various fields. While she is busy being the pillar of the family and community, it is crucial to take care of her health.

7 Ultimate Guide About Health Checks For Women

The following are seven suggested health checks that are recommended by healthcare professionals for women:

1. General Medical Checkup

This is an assessment of one’s overall health which includes an understanding of family medical history and lifestyle, basic laboratory tests, and blood tests. These tests can assess the risk of hypertension, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and others.

It is suggested that those in the age range of 19-21 do it once every two to three years; those in the age range of 22-64 do it once every one to three years. Meanwhile, those over 65 do it once a year.

2. Pelvic Ultrasound

The ultrasound provides quick visualization of a woman’s pelvic organs and structures. This includes the uterus, cervix, vagina, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. The scan is non-invasive. It is done externally or internally.

3. Pap Smear

Also known as a Pap Test. This is a lifesaving screening tool for cervical cancer. Anyone with a cervix between the ages of 21 and 65 is recommended to do the test every three years. A small sample of cells from your cervix is collected with a speculum. It will then be analyzed in the lab to detect precancerous or cancerous cells on the cervix.

4. HPV DNA Test

This test is to detect DNA of HPV (human papillomaviruses). HPV can cause abnormal tissue growth or cell changes in the cervix. Researches had determined that certain types of HPV are linked to cervical cancer. Therefore, it is recommended that those between 25-65 years old to perform the screening every five years.

5. Mammogram

It is an X-ray imaging method to examine one’s breast conditions. It is effective in detecting breast cancer and other breast-related diseases. The American Cancer Society recommended that women in the age range of 40 to 44 could opt to perform the screening yearly; women in the age range of 45 to 54 to perform the screening yearly; while those 55 years old and above could do it every other year or do it annually.

6. Colorectal Cancer Screening

This screening could detect early signs of colorectal cancer. Early detection is crucial to ensure successful treatment and survival. The National Cancer Society of Malaysia recommended that anyone who is 50 years old with an average risk to do the screening. A doctor will be able to advise one on the frequency of doing it.

7. Bone Density Test

To determine osteoporosis risk, the bone density is scanned with Low-intensity X-ray beams. It can measure the level of calcium and other minerals in one’s bones. Those who are 65 years old and above are advised to perform the test once every two years while women who are 65 years old and above with no risk of accelerated bone loss can do it every three to five years.

It is important to know that the health needs of a woman are different from man. The above-mentioned health checks are recommended for women to undertake. Doctors will be able to advise on the necessary checks accordingly. Hence, choosing the right healthcare package is crucial. Ewacare Malaysia women’s health screening package has comprehensive health checks for a woman based on her needs with expert guidance from experienced doctors for peace of mind.

Ayam Brand™ Community Care Campaign 2023

Posted on November 13, 2023November 13, 2023 By sweet surrender No Comments on Ayam Brand™ Community Care Campaign 2023

Ayam Brand Empowers 1,000 Children For a Better Future
Supports 25 Local Children’s Homes with 2 Months of Healthy Meals, Free Eye Health Check and Prescription Spectacles for Those Who Need

Kuching, 9 November, 2023 – It is estimated that up to 5.6 million school-going children in Malaysia face the double burden of malnutrition[1]. The double burden of malnutrition is defined as the coexistence of both undernutrition and overnutrition in the same population across the life course[2]. In short, malnourished children run the risk of becoming obese adults.

Worryingly, vision issues are also on the rise among Malaysian children with myopia prevalence among children at age seven at 9.8%, rising to 34.4% at the age of 15[3]. While some eye problems are inevitable for various reasons, others can be attributed to a lack of proper care.

#AyamBersamaMu 2023

To assist with these issues, Ayam Brand™, the 131-year old household name famed for its wide range of quality, preservative-free, no added MSG, healthy, and convenient canned food, is back with its annual Community Care Campaign 2023. Themed #AyamBersamaMu with the concept of ‘Add Health with Ayam Brand™’, it will reach out to more than 1,000 children from 25 non-governmental organisations across seven states to provide a two-months supply or approximately 35, 028 healthy meals.

Going beyond the contribution of its products, Ayam Brand™ in collaboration with KPJ Healthcare Group will be running nutrition workshops to educate these children on healthier dietary choices following the 3S (Suku-suku Separuh) Malaysian Healthy Plate concept. To address vision issues among these children Ayam Brand is working with Focus Point Group to provide free eye health screening, and prescription glasses to children who require from these homes.

Each participating home products are high in protein, calcium, Omega-3 and fibre including Ayam Brand™ Tuna Mayonnaise, Ayam Brand™ Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce and Ayam Brand™ Soya Flakes Spread.

Benefits of Fish in Diet

“The risk of double malnutrition, and myopia among Malaysian children requires action from all parties who can assist including organisations such as Ayam Brand. This is why we stepped up to help. Ideally all children should have good nutrition from birth. Ayam Brand™ has a long history of contributing our healthy and nutritious products to communities, and we are continuing in that commitment. However, we believe that while providing our products is an immediate solution, over the long term, educating children on making healthier food choices is the key. Our fish products are high in protein, calcium, Omega-3, DHA among other vitamins and minerals that children need for good health, including eye health,” says Ms Teoh Wei Ling, A. Clouet (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.’s Marketing Manager.

Studies conducted by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) found that Ayam Brand™ Sardines in Tomato Sauce was shown to have 7.1X more Omega-3 compared to home-cooked locally caught fresh sardines and Ayam Brand™ Mackerel in Tomato Sauce contains a whopping 7.6X more Omega-3 compared to an equivalent serving of home-cooked locally caught mackerel.

“Proper nutrition is important for children’s overall well-being, especially the consumption of protein for growth and development. One of those good protein sources is from fatty fish like tuna, saba, sardine, and mackerel, with good sources of Omega-3, which is vital for children’s brain development and eye health. Since our body cannot produce Omega-3 on its own, we need to obtain it from the foods we eat. One should consider to consume at least 2 servings of fatty fish weekly.” says Ms Yip Song Qing, KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital’s dietitian.

Ms Teoh Wei Ling also adds that “the Ayam Brand Community Care campaign which is now in its 16th year has contributed more than 2.1 million healthy meals for charity, providing nutritious food to more than 27,293 people from 610 charity homes and NGOs”.

In Sarawak, a total of 183 children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Pendidikan Nur Murni, Kompleks Kebajikan Laila Taib Kuching, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Baiturrahmah Kuching and The Salvation Army Kuching Children’s Care Centre  participated in the Add health with Ayam Brand #AyamBersamaMu workshop that was held at KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital.

Children learned about making healthier dietary choices through an informative and engaging session with  Ms Yip Song Qing. Next, each child put their new knowledge into practice by preparing themselves a healthy snack following the Suku-suku Separuh concept, guided by the KPJ and Ayam Brand team.

The children also participated in memory matching and ball toss games, which allowed them to practise their visual recall and hand-eye coordination as a way to reinforce what they had learned at the workshop. Members of the winning team each received a medal, while all participants received gift bags.

Representatives from the charity homes expressed their gratitude for Ayam Brand’s continued support, and for the transformative impact it will have on the lives of the children.

Quick Review KLEENSO PESSO Eco Ant Bait Effectiveness

Posted on December 27, 2022December 23, 2022 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Quick Review KLEENSO PESSO Eco Ant Bait Effectiveness

I did review another ant bait a few months back. It’s the ARS Natural Ant Bait. This time, I will share about KLEENSO PESSO Eco Ant Bait.

In fact, I’ve used this before and it did work very well. No mess at all. We didn’t see any ants around for quite some time since then. However, we all know it will certainly come back sooner or later. Found them in another area of the house so decided to get this again.

I didn’t have the chance to see ants going into it but somehow, a few days later, no more ants were in sight. Unlike ARS Natural Ant Bait that you can see the ants carrying the granules to the nest and leaving some of the granules scattered along its path. There wasn’t any mess with KLENSSO PESSO.

You can even put it in any orientation you like without worrying about the bait falling out from the container because it’s not in granule form. This is more versatile if you want to put it in a narrow area.

I do recommend this if you are looking for effective ant bait. I got Kleenso Pesso Eco Ant Bait here https://invl.io/clfbdhh from Shopee.

ARS Natural Ant Bait Effectiveness Quick Review

Posted on August 25, 2022August 26, 2022 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on ARS Natural Ant Bait Effectiveness Quick Review

Ants! Such a fascinating and annoying little creature. We’ve been having ant-problem for a year or so at home. We had tried a similar product like ARS Natural Ant Bait and it did work. I was thinking of buying the previous ant bait that we used but couldn’t find it because I had no idea of the actual name of the product. I used some keywords and Shopee recommended this instead. So I decided to try it.

When it arrived, I was supposed to do an unboxing but my dad opened it before I was in time to get my hands on it. Hence, all you get in this video will be just seeing the ants carrying the baits. It happened so quickly. Within an hour, many ants came out and carried the baits back to their nests.

My experience

It can be a little messy as the ants left some of the baits scattered outside of the container around its path. Hence, be sure to clear the area where you place the bait especially if there are food and water in the area. This is because we found quite a lot of ants that ended up in our drinking water!! You don’t want to contaminate your food with the bait as well.

The number of ants did reduce tremendously within a week. However, it didn’t totally eliminate it. Just leave the bait there and let those newbies continue carrying it to the nest. It’s almost 3 months since we place the bait in several locations. Some of the areas are cleared but some still have random ones coming in and out. At least no longer as bad.

I also did notice some of the ants are smart enough to avoid it by going around it. Just don’t give up. You just have to leave it there until it’s empty or had changed colour due to moisture. I haven’t seen them around already. They likely ended up consuming it as well. Do bear in mind that not all types of ants can be eliminated. Generally, it’s effective for those usually you found at home.

The main ingredient is Boric Acid with sugar in it as well. That’s what attracts the ants to carry the bait back to their nest.

Tip

Here’s a tip on how to use it. There are two containers in one pack. Each container has a packet of bait. You do not have to use one packet of bait for one container. Just open one packet and split them half-half into two containers. Then you will have one packet left for future use.

Where to buy it?

This product is by the No. 1 household insecticide manufacturer in Japan. You can find it easily in local supermarkets. I bought it from Shopee. You can buy it here at this link https://invol.co/cld9l5x

Complete Biotics (Prebiotics & Probiotics): What You Need To Know

Posted on March 29, 2021March 29, 2021 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Complete Biotics (Prebiotics & Probiotics): What You Need To Know

Ever experience the awful feeling of diarrhea, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), ulcerative colitis symptoms, sleep disturbance, unintentional weight changes, skin irritation, or constant fatigue? If your answer is “yes” to one or more of the symptoms listed, do read on.

In this day and age, leading a busy and fast paced lifestyle is common among Malaysians. This tends to prevent one from eating a balanced diet. Healthy and nutritious food plays a crucial role in one’s life as this is what makes one get up and going every day. However, due to modern lifestyle, many would opt to eat out or get takeaways which is why many are suffering from digestive or gut problems. This problem is commonly caused from bacteria in food, stress, infection, usage of certain medications, or chronic medical conditions such as colitis or Crohn’s disease. If it is not treated or improved, it can affect one’s life quality and potentially cause embarrassments.

We always hear about prebiotics and probiotics which can help in improving the gut problems that many people are facing. Ever wonder what they are and/or how they can fix the problems of the gut?

Prebiotics are non-digestible fibers which are compounds that can be found in food such as oats, rye, wheat, rice, or barley. It induces the growth or activity of beneficial microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) that can be found in the large intestine by altering the composition of organisms in the gut microbiome. While Probiotics are beneficial live bacteria and yeasts that can be found in yogurt, kimchi, miso, and other fermented foods. It is good for one’s gut health and digestive system which contribute to better immune system. When one has sufficient probiotics, sufficient postbiotics will be produced, to fulfill one’s need to maintain better energy, metabolism, and nervous system because it contains lactic acid, acetate, short-chain fatty acids, and folate.

Having both prebiotics and probiotics in one’s daily diet seems to be the key for staying physically fit in the modern days. Fortunately, YourGutt has both goodness that can assist one to improve gut health. Since prebiotic can be found in rice bran and probiotic can be found in fermented food, having fermented rice bran powder as part of one’s diet is the key to enhance the well-being of one’s gut. Rice bran contains beta glucan and other dietary fibers. Many are not fond of the taste of rice bran on its own but the good news is that YourGutt fermented rice bran powder is available in mango and chocolate flavor. Furthermore, YourGutt is the first in Malaysia and Asia to have the complete-biotics – prebiotic, probiotic, and postbiotics to satisfy the gut’s need.

It is not easy to get balanced nutrient in one’s meal if one is constantly eating out and always on-the-go. Hence, to ensure one is getting enough nutrition for the gut, a simple step such as adding Yourgutt complete biotics powder supplement in one’s daily diet can help. There should be noticeable improvement in one’s digestive system, energy level, and immune system when “good” or “helpful” bacteria is present in one’s digestive system.

Lastly, happy gut, happy day.
