My travelogue.

Few Hours in Putrajaya

Posted on August 18, 2015August 18, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Few Hours in Putrajaya

Pardon the wrong way of writing Putrajaya in the pictures 😛 I don’t know why I kept thinking Putrajaya is 2 words. I only realized it now. Oh blur to the max!

Got the opportunity to visit Putrajaya. First time here.

As what I was being told… Lots of space and very hot. Indeed!

My impression on this place is that it does not enough “life”. This place is just building, building, and more building; space, space, space, and more space. A very “cold” place to be.

Anyway, just a brief introduction of Putrajaya, source from Wikipedia… How lazy am I? *BLEK*
Putrajaya is a planned city, 25 km south of Kuala Lumpur, that serves as the federal administrative centre of Malaysia due to overcrowding and congestion in the Kuala Lumpur area.

Will just let the photos do the talking now. I have nothing much to say about this place. See how deserted it is?

Lastly, night view… Took this after dinner. The place is practically deserted at night because it’s an administrative area.

After dinner, we just drove around the place and went back to Port Dickson.

Done with my work trip post. Finally! 😛

Melaka River Cruise

Posted on August 9, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Melaka River Cruise

The trip last month to Port Dickson gave me the opportunity to go to Melaka for a short day trip. My second time visiting Melaka but my first time going on the river cruise. All photos and video taken on the cruise.

Look for the the river and you will find the cruise at Muara Jetty. I didn’t pay for the ride so I’m not sure how much. Foudn this online, I assume it’s still valid.

Non-Mycard holder:
Adult = RM 15.00 Child = RM 7.00

Mycard holder:
Adult = RM 10.00 Child = RM 5.00

The tour is 45 minutes with commentary.

Kampung Morten is a traditional Malay village and living museum. One of the attractions you’ll see on the cruise. Didn’t come here during the last trip.

You’ll go under a lot of bridges, all with its own unique architecture.

Took a short video of the ride.

Finally got this post up. I’m so tired… Have a great week ahead.

Port Dickson (6-10/7/2015)

Posted on July 26, 2015August 9, 2015 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Port Dickson (6-10/7/2015)

Went to Port Dickson way back in 2013. Didn’t expect to go back there anytime soon. Didn’t stay a night there, it was just a pit stop and we went to the Royal Port Dickson Yacht Club for early dinner.

Few weeks back, was informed rather last minute on this trip. Oh well… For work purpose with a bunch of colleagues…

On Monday afternoon, we flew to KLIA2 and the hotel van came to pick us up. Grand Beach Resort Port Dickson (5th Mile, Jln Pantai, 71050 Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia) was our home for almost a week. Apparently, it’s not too far from Royal Port Dickson Yacht Club. Isn’t it fun to go to a beach resort and have your meeting there? Duh… It’s work dude?!?! Not holiday. Fun? What fun? Well… A little fun, yes… Lots of fun? No… *LOL*

Luckily… I was being assigned with my own room and I got a queen sized bed!! At least I don’t have to share a room and got all the privacy I needed. The hotel is more than 20 years old, they are still undergoing a series of refurbishments. It’s not easy to maintain such big property located at the beach. However, I’m sure it will be a good one once all renovations are done.

Every room has its own balcony. The view I got is exactly what you see in the photos. Was lucky that I managed to swim in the pool but didn’t get the time to play at the beach. At least I got to wear my swimsuit or else it will just stayed there in the luggage not getting worn hahaha…

Basically, in this post, I’m just sharing with you slightly about the hotel and will let the photos to the talking. Oh… Irene is getting lazy… The last post was more than a week ago! Busy busy busy…

First night, our dinner was the resort’s Ramadan Buffet. It’s dark, my camera isn’t very good in taking proper photos, it’s old and the focusing is a bit off too. Ah… When to get a new one? Don’t take much photos with camera these days, just with my phone, quality is rather hopeless too. Didn’t try much of the food, no appetite, wasn’t feeling very well too as I was still sick during the trip.

Left: Breakfast at the resort, these are just starter, I forgot to take photo of my main course hehehe…
Right: The view once I got out of my room.

These views are from the following rooms…

A collections of our breakfast and lunch for the 2nd and 3rd day.

That’s about it on the resort I stayed.

Next post will be a few-hours trip to Melaka and Putrajaya just to break fast with other Muslim colleagues.

That’s all for now… Finally a post after more a week!

Lundu-Bau Labour Day 2015 Day Trip

Posted on May 3, 2015May 3, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Lundu-Bau Labour Day 2015 Day Trip

1/5/2015, the long awaited long weekend. For the first time, I didn’t fly anywhere during such holiday. Odd… I know… I’ve been getting lots of queries on why on earth I’m in Kuching at this time of the year *LOL* Boys and girls… I have no idea too… No idea where to go this time and flight ticket is just way too expensive, not worth it to spend like this. So… Just stay home and sleep in, sleep in, sleep in…

First stop was Lundu. Visited my relatives and then we had lunch at the market. As usual, the salt coated prawn is always what we will order whenever we’re here. Be prepared for the long wait especially on public holiday. City dwellers will usually flood this small town on public holidays. These three dishes cost about RM60+. A lot for 3 of us, can actually feed 4. The prawn was different, I guess there’s a bit too much cornstarch that’s why, not dry enough. There’s also cha kueh tiaw and vegetable soup. The former was a bit bland but it’s ok for me; the latter was normal.

After Lundu, we decided to pay a visit to Tasik Biru at Bau. My first time here *LOL*

If you would like to read more about it, just follow this link about the lake.

We spent a short time there only. Just to see the lake that’s all.

On the way home, we decided to stop by Siniawan for its weekend night market. First time here also. The night market only operate on every Fri – Sun, 6:30pm onwards.

It used to be a dead town, always passed by this place on Qing Ming (Chinese old souls day). Once a year we will stop here, just round the place in the car and left.

Recently, they started the night market on the weekend. Never got the chance to go there because it’s just too out of the way and not familiar with the road. The road is so dark at night.

Now that we have the chance, we reached there around 5.30pm. Still easy to find parking. So, best to reach there around this time because it’s hard to park or to move after 6.30pm onwards.

Food wise, there’s a lot of varieties. However, hmmm… Taste wise, just so-so, didn’t try any that made us gone WOW. However, environment was great. This is what matters the most. You can get all the food easily in Kuching too.

The fish ball and meat ball kolo mee here isquite popular. Finally get to try it, hmm… Well… Not my taste. I’m not a kole mee person anyway. However, the meat ball and fish ball were made from real fish and pork, not like the type with lots of flour.

Never miss… Sambal stingray and cuttlefish. Very spicy. It’s Ok.

Food here are priced the same as what you get in Kuching. So, considered it reasonable.

We left at around 7pm, people started to pour in and cars were parking at the roadside already.

That’s the end of my Labour Day day trip. At least I’ve been to all these places already hahaha…

Kota Kinabalu 1-4 March 2015 (Part 3)

Posted on March 22, 2015March 23, 2015 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Kota Kinabalu 1-4 March 2015 (Part 3)

Final part of KK trip. Hmmm… Time to hunt for ticket for the next destination.

Kinabalu Park on the third day. Stopped by this building that looked like battery hahah… Yayasan Sabah Tower. Lucky that the sky was clear to see the mountain when we were on the way to Kinabalu Park.

We arrived Nabalu Town for a rest. Clear blue sky with the view of magnificent mountain. Lovely! Bought the pineapple there, a-must to try. This is the only pineapple I can eat, sweet and juicy, didn’t sting or made my tongue itchy. I never like pineapple.

Left: After the brief stop, we headed to Kinabalu Park. We’re only at the visitor centre. The air was so cooling… Miss this kind of fresh cool breeze… Was just wearing a sleeveless blouse, feeling the breeze on every inch of my skin, not cold at all but just nice.

Right: Next, to Poring but we had lunch first at Nongling Restoran Poring before going for short hike, canopy walk, and dipping in the hot spring.

Let’s see if I can identify any food I ate haha… Overall food was average but at least you can feel the freshness of the ingredients. Was stuffed! Quite a lot for 5 of us (a Chinese lady joined us in our tour).

Left: Fried rice. Not bad.
Right: Corn soup, too sticky, too thick. Not my kind of soup. However, taste wasn’t bad.

Left: Mixed vegetables, ok also.
Right: We tried hard to figure out this dish, sweet and sour fish? Couldn’t taste any fish but flour. Two thumbs down.

Left: Chicken meat cooked with not-sure-what hahaha… Just average.
Right: The curry prawn was spicy but not too spicy. This is acceptable.

Left: Very fresh vegetables but too bad we had difficulty finishing it, felt very wasted. I don’t know the name.
Right: After lunch, we went to the hot spring. A stream just right below the bridge we walked.

We went on a hike to reach the canopy walk. A very easy hike, just a matter of how much stamina you have. Finally we reached the canopy walk. Thought it will be very scary but actually it’s not. The harder you hold on to the rope, the shakier it will be. No need to be nervous, just walk gracefully. Each time, only 6 persons can walk.

Left: Cold water pool. The water is from the mountain, cold! Took a lot of courage to dip ourselves in there. Brr… After got in, it’s not so bad.

Right: Hot spring. Hot! Have to mix with the cold mountain water. Can feel the slipperiness on your skin when you dip in there. Sure has curing properties which consist of hot sulphuric minerals. The lady who followed us was bitten by mosquitoes throughout her 3 days trip and after she dipped in there, the redness subsides and no longer feeling itchy. Me too. I’m always a mosquito magnet anyway.

We didn’t spend much time there, quick dip only as I requested the tour to include Desa Milk Farm. The views on the way to Kundasang. Passed by Kundasang War Memorial Park. A memorial built to remember heroes who have suffered or perished during the tragic ‘Sandakan Death March’. There are three gardens, Australian Garden, the English Garden and the Borneo Garden.

We’re here! You can see them milk the cow and the pack the milk.

This is the building where you can see the milking of the cow, packing of milk, and buying the dairy products produced by the farm. The ice cream (RM5) wasn’t creamy and milky enough, still better than Sunny Hill’s. The yogurt (RM3) was great on its own, not too sour. While the milk (RM3.50) was fresh, I like the milk. Finished the whole container of yogurt before the dinner and almost 500ml of the milk in a night after very big dinner. Luckily no “colon cleansing” that night.

The New Zealand of Sabah heheh… Sure has has the feel. The breeze was cooling. The view was amazing!

That’s the end of our tour.

At night, we went for seafood at New Luyang Restaurant (Shop No. 1, Luyang Phase 1, Jalan Kolam 838300, KK, Sabah) famous for crab. I have no idea of most of the food as I wasn’t the one ordering it, I contributed my stomach only ;p The total bill came up RM130.50, considered quite reasonable.

Left: I have no idea what’s this, I didn’t pay attention.
Right: Another vegetable that I don’t know the name hahaha…

Left: The signature crab, Kam Heong Crab. Very fresh crab and the lots of roe in there. Oh my cholesterol ;p Very aromatic indeed. Dried shrimp is one of the ingredients. I suspected that I had allergy attack right after eating it and developed itch that lasted 48 hours. I used to have allergy from eating crab when I had too much. It’s been almost 20 years I’ve not suffer from this. It’s ok… Not that bad actually, could stand the itch without needing any medical attention ;p Just rolled myself like a sushi in my blanket when I slept when I got home to Kuching. It came out full force the night I got back to Kuching.

Right: Deep fried pomfret, really big for us to finish. Fish was fresh, should get them to steam it instead of frying.

That’s the end of our final night in KK.

The next morning, we decided to walk around town as our flight was in the afternoon. Had not eaten Sheng Rou Mien since coming here so tried hunting for it in Chinese coffee shops.

Couldn’t find it and we tried our luck at Seng Hing Coffee Shop (Block E, Lot 10, Sinsuran Complex, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah). They didn’t serve that but we had sat down and ordered the Tuaran Mee (left) and Balsam-pear aka bitter gourd Beehoon (right). Don’t quite remember the prices, total was around RM12 inclusive of a canned drink. The two noodle dishes were just normal to me, nothing to wow. I’m just not a fan fried noodle.

We’re told Sheng Rou Mien can be found just at the next row *LOL* After we got out of the coffee shop, then I looked to the left as I was waiting for my mom who went to the toilet. Oh! There it is! Kedai Kopi Kim Hing Lee (Blk F, Lot 7, Sinsuran Complex). Saw the signboard saying “KK first sheng rou mien” at the back alley. We did walk there but from the front, didn’t notice because it’s pretty hidden. This photo here is the front, not obvious what’s more I didn’t do research on where to have this in KK 😛 Even if I did, I still missed the shop.

Since, we’re full, so we ordered just one bowl of soup sheng rou mien to try. It’s RM8 per bowl (if not mistaken). Very different from the sheng rou mien in Kuching. The Kuching version has clearer soup. It was good, still I prefer the one in Kuching even though it’s originated from KK. The soup in Kuchinng is improvised to suit the taste of Kuchingites I guess.

Done! That’s the end of my KK trip. Where next? Thinking of going back to Perth this year end, the flight ticket is so cheap! Well… We’ll see…
