Cat Museum

Posted on August 12, 2007August 11, 2007 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Cat Museum

Installed a new plugin for recent comments but I don’t like it. It’s stupid to display recent comments instead of the post titles like previous plugin but it’s not longer working anymore(don’t get it? Nvm…). Apparently my service provider block this code from running. Still in the process of looking for new plugin, will use this for the time being.

Finally… The long awaited post is here. Wuching, meet the Kucing(cat in Malay)! πŸ˜›

The Cat Museum is easy to locate. It’s above Bukit Siol or it’s in Kuching North City Hall. You won’t miss it if you are in Petra Jaya.

Admission is free. However, if you can donate, please do donate because the government is planning to charge entrance fee for our museums now. So to make sure you get free entrance in the future, make sure you donate if you can. I didn’t donate πŸ˜›

You have to pay for your camera/video camera if you planning to take photos or videos.

Let’s camwhore! πŸ˜›

Left: The preserved award winning cat.
Right: In these glass display units, you can see all kind of cats, mostly wild cats. Even preserved mouse hehehe…

Everything related to cats are display here.

They are all donated by cat lovers from all over the world such as Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, England…

More cat related collections.

By the way, the Cat Museum is the one and only museum that is dedicated to cats in this world.

Cat Cave. Hahaha… A cave filled with wild cats on the cave wall.

Left:The tomb for the cat. It’s real and dated 1907. It’s relocated to this museum.
Right: The silk screens are very nice.

Left: Cats in movie.
Right: You can buy souvenirs there.

Before leaving, you can sign the guestbook and donate to the museum. There’s a transparent box for you to put your money in.

It’s a place that you must visit. It’s not big but it could take up a lot of your time because there are so many interesting collections there. Too bad I can only show you some photos only, there are so many of them, I can’t possibly put all of them in -.-” Well… Maybe some other time, I edit them again and give you a part 2 of Cat Museum.

State Library

Posted on August 9, 2007August 10, 2007 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on State Library

It’s been ages I didn’t go to the State Library. In fact, I have no idea how to go πŸ˜› Hahaha… The other day we brought our KL friends there, we just simply drove around and we managed to find the way *LOL*

Left: The State Library.
Right: Very smart architecture, glass staircase. So girls, if you are wearing skirts you are not allow to go up if you don’t want to show people everything under you hahaha… Many people like to take their wedding photos here. I hate it. It’s not nice at all.

Left: One of our friends is wearing sleevelss t-shirt, and she was asked to wear a coat. You must wear smartly there. No slippers too. This is the one and only photo of the library that I manage to take hehehe… I didn’t know camera is not allowed. It consists of two storeys, downstair is the children, activities and multimedia corner. The second floor is the library. They have a staircase in there for you to go up without using the glass staircase hahaha… They have elevator too which is not far from the glass staircase.

You cannot bring water into the library, you have to place it at the table next to the place where you leave your bag. They don’t allow you to put your water bottle in your bag because they are afraid that it might wet other people’s stuffs. We were afraid that our bottles might got mixed up as there aren’t any label for your bottle. You just place them on the table with other ppl’s bottles. -.-“

Right: The other side of the library. There’s a cafetaria there and a bookshop next to the library entrance.

I didn’t know we have self-checkout machine at our State Library hehehe.. I know… I know… I’m so suaku. I’m not a library person anyway, I’ve only been to library four times until now. One time I went to the one near Hopoh, then another one at Civic Center, then State library twice(both time for visit hahaha…).

Left: The lake outside the library. It’s a place for many people to hang out with their family in the evening or weekends. Some even fish there. I saw it before, years ago hahaha… It’s not a safe place at night, many rape cases happened here and it’s a place where people like to make some love here too.

Right: The ducks. Hehehe…

That’s all about our State Library. Don’t ask me how to go πŸ˜› I have no idea how to explain to you. It’s near to the State Mosque too. I can only tell you it’s at Petra Jaya at the North part of Kuching.

Sarawak River Cruise

Posted on August 8, 2007August 10, 2007 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on Sarawak River Cruise

SIGH… The haze is here!!! It’s smelly and it’s hot!!! *sneeze sneeze*

Warning: Bandwidth sucker is on your way!!!

It was supposed to be a simple lunch on Sunday. After lunch, we were invited by Sandra’s guests(we’ll just called them uncle and auntie) to join them on the river cruise. We rejected at first, then after some persuasions and uncle said he’ll treat us to the cruise and Sandra added that if less than 10 people, the cruise will be cancelled. So… Hehehe… OK… We agreed.

The 3 of us got 10% discount and for uncle and auntie, they are considered as senior citizens, they got 20% discount. To get this senior citizen discount, uncle had to ask them whether got discount or not else it would be normal fare. Hahaha… All together the total was RM150.50. It’s expensive hehehe… Thanks for the treat uncle and auntie. It’s not everyday you do this, summore people pay for you, I don’t think you will want to spend this kind of money (RM35 per adult) especially if you are a local. Right?

Left: The cruise ship.
Right: The top deck. It’s pretty hot up there. It’s better to take the Sunset Cruise if you can’t stand the heat and you will be able to enjoy the sunset of Kuching on the Sarawak River. Of course, it’s more expensive. However, if you are like us, want to take photos, then the Welcome Cruise is the choice.

The cruise is 1 hour and 15 minutes cruise. This is the ship interior. By the way, if you are wondering where to buy the tickets, you just go into the ship and buy the tickets. We were looking around for the ticketing counter at first until we asked some traders there.

The picture you are seeing here is the interior that is air-conditioned. To have a better view, it’s best to go to the upper deck.

Left: We started to sail.
Right: The new parliament in construction.

Left: People playing jetski. I want too but hahaha… Not in this river -.-“
Right: The Astana.

Left: The view of the back of Main Bazaar Market.
Right: Main Bazaar area. The tallest buiding you can see is Merdeka Palace(hotel). I can’t remember the name of the orange white building in the middle. Partially hidden is Electra House(place to shop).

Left: Brooke Dockyard, one of the historical building in Kuching. It’s still in use. The mosque that you can see on the right used to be our State Mosque.

Left: You can see DBKU building also.
Right: I think this is one of the ministers house. Very huge right? We “pay” it for him. Any idea who? Taib? The ship made a turned back from here.

Left: You can see fishermen doing their works along the river.
Right: Back to the Kuching Waterfront. There’s some events going on in conjunction of Kuching Festival.

Left: Hilton.
Right:(L-R) Riverine Suite(very expensive apartment), Crowne Plaza(another hotel), Wisma Ting Pek Khiing(housed the Inland Revenue Office and CatsFM).

Heading to the Petanak Area wherer you can see fishing boats docked there. This is one of the places where they unload their catch and sell them at Petanak Market or Main Bazaar. The tall buidling at the far end is another apartment, I forgot the name πŸ˜› Hehehe… Somebody stays there ocassionally hehehe… You know who you are *blek*

The city skyline.
Left: Somerset Gateway, apartments/offices building and Silkair office and OCBC are here.
Brown building: Tun Jugah Building.
Middle: Menara SEDC, Sarawak Plaza belongs to SEDC, they are sort of like in the same building and Holiday Inn is joined with Sarawak Plaza. Basically you can consider these 3 as one. πŸ˜› I don’t know how to explain.
Right: Crowne Plaza, Riverine Suite, and Hilton.

This can be consider as Pending area.
Left: Yellow building is a shop row.
Second left: Crown Square.
Third left: Hock Lee Building.
The tallest buiding: STA(Sarawak Timber Association Building).
Right: I can’t remember what is the name of this building which housed RHB bank and one of the stock trading companies.

Before heading back to Kuching Waterfront, they performed a bit of traditional dance. This should be the Bidayuh dances. After that, we were given the opportunity to take pictures with the dancers πŸ˜› Hehehe… I had mine taken too.

Hope you enjoy the cruise…

Travel Companion(s)/Tour Guide(s) Needed

Posted on August 4, 2007November 23, 2008 By sweet surrender 13 Comments on Travel Companion(s)/Tour Guide(s) Needed

OK! I’m planning to do a bit of travelling this year end and next year. I’m looking for a travel companion else a tour guide is fine. If I can’t get a travel companion, then I need a tour guide πŸ˜›

These are my plans:
Miri. Early October 2007, 3 days 2 nights. I need a tour guide. Anyone one in Miri that is kind enough to bring me around?

KL, Genting. December 2007. If it works out. I don’t need a travel companion or tour guide. Just to let you know that I’ll be going over and if you want to meet up with me, you have to arrange with me for lucnh or dinner or I might have a meet the fan session by then πŸ˜› I will let you know where I will be and you just come and join me hehehe… Of course, pay for your own food and drinks. *AHEM* Anyone wanna sponsor?

Perth, Australia. March or April or October or November 2008. I need a tour guide. Hehehe… If I can stay at your place that would be great πŸ˜› I can save on my accomodation expenditure *LOL* Else, I would like you to help me find a place that is affordable enough to stay for at least 1 week, preferable a place with own bathroom if I’m not staying with you hehe… I don’t mind sharing a bathroom with you if I’m staying with you. Doubt that it will be so affordable for 1 week hahaha… It would be great too if you can pick me up from the airport πŸ˜› Anyway, this is just a plan. I really hope I can visit Perth next year.

Star Cruise. Next year. Not sure when, depending on their offers and not when haze or rainy season. Can be twin sharing or quad sharing. If twin sharing, I would prefer a girl hehehe… As for quad sharing I don’t mind with a mixture of girls and boys. However, I heard twin sharing is more worth it. Anyone?

Singapore. Hmmm… As I have relative there, I might be staying with them. Not so sure. I might go or might not go. If I have travel companion(s), then that would be great! I don’t need to stay with my relative. Hehehe… We can share the accommodation cost.

Basically these are the places that I plan to go in near future. I would love to go somewhere further such as Hong Kong, Japan, NZ, US, UK but these require much more money $_$

Sama Jaya Forest Park

Posted on May 5, 2007May 4, 2007 By sweet surrender 14 Comments on Sama Jaya Forest Park

Sama Jaya Forest Park is very popular among joggers. It’s situated near Stutong Park(that housing estate should be known as this I think :P), opposite the police quarters at Tabuan area. We were supposed to be going to Damai but at the end the cosplayers changed their mind and decided to go somewhere near. We were there from noon to around 4pm. I didn’t expect that there were so many people actually jogged there at around 1pm-3pm.

We have Malaysia China Friendship Park(1) (2) at Jalan Song. Here, we have Hiroshima-Sarawak Friendship Garden. This garden is only open when you request for it.

There’s a Japanese Tea House in there but not sure how it functions. Maybe you need do reservation or something to be able to use it. Hmmm…

Left: Parking space.
Right: There are many buildings there and don’t ask me what are they for. I have no idea. It’s too hot to walk around to explore them.

While waiting for the cosplayers to complete their filming. We went jungle tracking. Beware of mosquitoes, monkeys and falling branches! Almost got attacked by the monkeys when we tried to take photos of them. So, don’t play play. Hahaha… Don’t feed them too. The track is 1600m long and it took us about 20+ minutes to finish the track by walking.

Some flowers. Nothing much.

Left: The reflexology path. It’s much bigger than the one at Jalan Song and it has various levels.
Right: It was super hot! I was so bored. Took some photos and that’s it. Nothing interesting to see. No nice flowers. The plants there looked like in the a very pity stage.
