Hong Kong Noodle House @ Wisma Saberkas (2)

Posted on May 28, 2007May 28, 2007 By sweet surrender 28 Comments on Hong Kong Noodle House @ Wisma Saberkas (2)

Before I did some shopping and watch the roadshow last Friday, we had lunch at Hong Kong Noodle House again… Couldn’t decide where to eat and ended up there.

Left: Can you spot the “B”? The orange colour really complements the red colour of the interior. Now I know why they got a “B”. Guess what I saw? A baby cockroach behind my chair. Luckily I’m not afraid of cockroach so I just used the order slip to swept it down the floor.
Right: You get soups when you order rice dish.

Left: Lemon Fried Chicken Rice(RM4), too much lemon sauce! I ate till I almost threw up. Couldn’t stand it. The chicken were tasteless.
Right: Salted Fish Fried Rice(RM4), they were too stingy with their salted fish. It’s just like eating normal fried rice.

They do charge 5% government tax but there is no service tax. You are welcome to give them tips by putting the tips into the box that is provided.

Chong Qing Steamboat

Posted on May 19, 2007 By sweet surrender 15 Comments on Chong Qing Steamboat

WAH! Finally I had satisfied my craving last night! I know it’s crazy to eat this during the hot spell attack in Kuching lately but I’m glad that I made it on the Friday night which the whole day was wet and cool. Phew… If not, you go figure how are we going to survive? πŸ˜› Too bad the rest couldn’t join us, it’s so hard to find such a nice day like yesterday to have it. We were so afraid that it’s not longer in operation anymore but lucky lucky… They are still in operation! YES!

Had it the first time in December last year. We spent RM56 for the 5 of us last night. This price exclude drinks. By the way, it’s not buffet style. You have to order your ingredients one by one.

Left: The base will cost you RM10. It’s divided into section, the non-spicy and spicy sections. You can choose the level of spiciness. We opt for the lowest level. Hehehe… At first we were thinking to order medium spicy but at the end decided to get the lowest one because we’re not sure about the rest whether they want it very spicy or less spicy since we reached there first. So if later they want it more spicy, we can just ask them to add more chillies! πŸ˜› Then Ann came and I think she accidentally got choked by the spicy base hehehe… Poor girl yet her drink hadn’t arrived. So we settled with this level of spiciness.

Right: The sauce for you to dip your food. I’m not sure what it’s made of but can taste very strong garlic smell and a bit like satay sauce but it’s not stay sauce.

Here’s the tip to eat this:

– DO NOT dump everything in especially the meats into the steamboat, it’s not meant for you to do that, it’s for you to “shabu-shabu”, that’s why the meat are all thinly sliced. If you dump all your meats in, they are going to be very salty and not nice anymore.
– You can dump your fishballs and veggies(those thick type like cabbage) in though.
– As for tofu, don’t let it stay in there too long.

Left: Chicken meat.
Right: Beef. Wow! It tasted so good! This is the best meat to have with this “ma la” steamboat.

Left: Pork.
Right: Singapore fishballs. Huge! I had one only hehe… Ann got the last one and I just realised they were gone so she gave me hers since I didn’t eat any.

Left: Needle mushroom.
Right: Tofu.

Left: I don’t know what this is called. Chinese cabbage? The one u usually see in the market when almost Chinese New Year.
Middle: Cabbage.
Right: A type of fungus. Not sure what its name.

This place is really recommended for those that like spicy food. The location is hmmm… At Tabuan Laru, same row as AmBank. If you are facing AmBank, the direction is to your right. Great weather, great dinner!

Del’s Kitchen

Posted on May 12, 2007 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Del’s Kitchen

I’m supposed to be going to eat Sarawak Laksa today then last minute decided to go to RH Plaza because we seldom go there. We walked walked walked and found a place for lunch. There are so many eateries in this area, from kopitiams to restaurants. We decided to try out this place, Del’s Kitchen, seems quite new. It’s at the same row as Taipei 101.

Left: Menu. They have local food to western food, quite a lot of varieties. The local food is a bit pricey compare to the western food. I mean the western food pricings are higher than the local food but it’s consider quite an average pricing compare to local food which is a bit higher than average.
Right: When you go in, your first impression would be, “WOW! So white!” *LOL* It’s air-conditioned! It’s not a very big place but they have 2 small air-cons and 2 big air-cons. Another WOW! πŸ˜› We later found out from their namecard that they are not only occupying the ground floor but the upstairs too.

Their food presentations are quite nice.

Left: Laksa Nyonya(RM5.50), kinda tasteless, a lot of santan though. It’s not spicy, very mild.
Right: Nasi Goreng Paprik(RM5.90), just plain rice with stir fried meat and veggies in black pepper sauce. Only few pieces of meat only, very small pieces summore.

Our drinks. I would say that the drinks are a bit too pricey.

Left: Fruity Punch(RM4.80). I’m expecting it came with a tall glass but it came in this small glass. Nothing much… It’s just mixing two types of syrups. Very sweet! At least it’s too sweet for my liking.
Right: Margarita – non alcoholic(RM5.80). Very nice right? Couldn’t help it and kept on taking pictures of it *LOL* It’s so SOUR! I’m not kidding you, it’s very very very very very… SOUR! First drink, you can taste a hint of flavour like what you get in ENO. The the more you drink, GOODNESS GRACIOUS! SO SOUR! You remember when we’re young, there’s this kind of sweet where it’s very sour in the beginning and after sucking it for sometimes, it’s not sour anymore? Yea…. It’s that kind of sour but with no sweetness at the end. So imagine you need to drink this glass of Margarita, it’s very small glass but but it’s very hard to finish! However, nice presentation.

In the menu, it stated that they charge 5% service tax but when we settled our bill, there’s no tax at all. Hmmm… I’m not sure to recommend this place or not, I like the environment. *SHRUG*

OMG… I’m almost broke already this month -.-” Spent too much on eating out lately. Next Friday spicy steamboat summore and need to find time to go sing Karaoke at Popwave hahaha… I still have many things that I want to eat but… Not much money left πŸ™

Whitman’s Sampler

Hehehe… Actually got this from Sue who came back to Kuching last year. I realised that I haven’t post anything about the chocolate yet. Hmm… I have the habit of “disecting” chocolate especially if they have fillings. It’s kinda gross πŸ˜› but I love it hahaha… I can have the same piece of chocolate for at least 15 minutes in between my thumb and my index finger hehehe… You have to sample the chocolate bit by bit instead of putting the whole thing into your mouth, that’s not the right way to eat chocolate ok?

Here’s the box of chocolate all the way from the US. Hehehe… Thanks again Sue.

Gross or not πŸ˜› With my teeth marks there hahaha…
These are just some of them, there were some that I didn’t manage to take any picture because they’re gone hehehe…

Yummy~~~

J&J Cafetaria

This is located near Choice Daily. Heard that it’s very popular for its roti canai. Went there to have a drink and roti canai+egg+onions. 2 drinks and a roti canai+egg+onions cost us RM5. Surprisingly, they have 5% government tax which caught us in surprise. It took them quite a while to get our drinks. The roti canai was sent to us first before the drinks arrived. As for the roti canai… Nothing much, it’s just roti canai with egg and onion.
