The Crocs in Actions! – Jong’s Crocodile Farm & Zoo (PART I)

Posted on September 1, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on The Crocs in Actions! – Jong’s Crocodile Farm & Zoo (PART I)

Quite a boring day yesterday, so went to Jong’s Crocodile Farm & Zoo. I had never been there. This is my first time there. It’s located about 30 kilometerfrom Kuching or fondly known as 17 miles.

Left: The entrance to the farm at the roadside so that people can easily locate it.
Right: The shop where you can buy some crocs’ products and Sarawak souvenirs.

Crocs replicas greet you at the main entrance.

Here, we bought our tickets. Adult is RM8 and child is RM4(below 12).

Left: Iguana, how many can you locate?
Right: The exhibition hall.

Some animals and egg, they are real but it’s already dead.

Bujang Senang! Geee… I wonder why people put money in there? It’s huge and it had eaten human. You can see the photos on the wall on how they took the victim from its stomach after killing it.

These are real but it’s preserved. It shows you the metamorphosis of a saltwater crocodile.

Young crocs.

Left: Tailess crocodiles.
Right: Its colour is different form others. Kinda white.

A collection of crocodiles and the entrance to the zoo(left).

Left: Catfish.
Right: Rabbit.Veli cute… don’t you think so?

Left: The otters. They were so cute. Making some squeky sounds. It sounded pityful. Summore, it’s very friendly too. When you are in front of the cage, it will greet you by running to your direction. It’s SUPER ADORABLE!!! They are very fond of children. When there are children near the cage, they would run to their direction.
Right: This owl is so cool… it has the what-are-you-staring-at look.

Peacocks! Too bad, they didn’t show us their tails.

Part 2 coming soon…

Happy 49th Independence

Posted on August 31, 2006September 10, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Happy 49th Independence

Happy Merdeka Day!

I took some photos/videos from the live telecast few minutes before the clock striked 12 last night. Then a few minutes after 12 too.

I woke up at 10am this morning and the parade had finished πŸ˜› so no photos from there. Before the clock striked 12. Hmm… I took a lot and it turned out that only the cultural dance part can be used. The rest couldn’t be used.

Here’s the video that will summarised everything on 30th night right on the spot. Thanks to Nien.

As for this morning, I only saw the end of it where they took the view from high up and it’s showing Carpenter Street area but they totally didn’t show our skyscrappers that were all at the other side. That whole view really gives people that don’t know much about the impression that Kuching is a small town, very very small town and backward, so dissappointed with that view. They should also show the other side of Kuching. Are you humiliating us? People, that’s the not the true picture of Kuching, it’s just a small part of Kuching where all the old shops located. You can buy all sorts of souvenirs and antiques at that area.

Slice My Own Hair!

Posted on August 25, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Slice My Own Hair!

Well… You can’t see much here coz I only cut my front hair heheheh… I took a razor blade and sliced my front hair gradually through the strands. There… I have fringe now πŸ˜› Ehehhe… It turn out ok, not a total disaster but not very obvious. Well… not much different really, I dare not to slice too short. I sliced at least 15cm or so but it’s still long. Oh I did it after washing my hair, that’s why it’s straight in the first photo. The second was taken after it’s dried.

Got inspired by one of the snippets in Cleo August 2006 issue πŸ˜› Hehehe…

“Make razors work double time for you: Instead of using a pair of scissors to keep your fringe in check, try a disposable single-blade razor and make sure it’s single blade unless you want to end up with split hair. Pull your dry fringe forward and hold hair taut at the ends between fingers and slice the blade gradually through the strands till you get your desired length.”

By the way, no makeup!!! Only colourless lip balm LOL… but the second photo, I did photoshopped my eyebags and dark circles. The flash was too harsh and it emphasized too much on them.

I did cut my hair once before. It was years ago and ehehhe… It was OK because I have natural curls and I already have layered cut, even though I simply cut, it had not much effect. I didn’t know what got into me that time. I actually cut my own hair by backcombed all my hair and started snipped, snipped, snipped… Of course following the length where it’s short, it’s short; where it’s long, it’s long.

Please don’t try it at home πŸ˜› I’m not responsible for any damage. It’s best to leave your hair to the pro.

Kuching Festival 2006(11) – FINALE

Posted on August 20, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Kuching Festival 2006(11) – FINALE

It’s the last day today! Grabbed some simple dinner or I would rather refer it as snacks from food fair before going over to Amphitheater for the Open Air Movie Carnival.

We decided to have Thai food this time. We bought fried soft shell crab, fried crab+chicken meat in crab shell and mango chicken. Overall was RM10.

The soft shell crab tasted ok not oily though it’s fried. As for fried crab+chicken meat in crab shell, it’s so tough!! It’s hard to eat too. Lastly, mango chicken was quite ok. The mango was young mango strips marinated in sweet and sour sauce with chopped onions etc. Too many spices in there, I don’t really know them.

After we’re done with it, we went to Amphitheater for the movie at around 6.30pm.

This is the end of Kuching Festival Food Fair. Till then… adios!

You’ve Got Mail – Open Air Movie Carnival 2006

Posted on August 20, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on You’ve Got Mail – Open Air Movie Carnival 2006

I got these tickets for free πŸ˜›

On Friday morning, I got a message telling me that I’ve got mail in my red mailbox. I was kinda blurred and didn’t bother much about it even though this reader of mine(sorry can’t tell you who this reader is, I promise not to expose the identity of this reader) tried to explain to me. I even forgotten that I have a red mailbox downstair πŸ˜› When I sent my bro to school, I saw something in the mailbox, I took it out, it’s an envelope with two movie passes! It’s hand delivered summore on Thursday night. My early b’day gift? Hehehehe…

Thank you very very much! Geee… I got free stuffs! πŸ˜› Wow… I thought only those popular bloggers will have the privilege of getting free stuffs LOL… This is consider my first though it’s not from some sort of companies that need the blogger to review their stuffs. I actually got my 1st gift from my reader WOW! Thanks again. It’s supposed to be for me and my sis πŸ˜› but then I invited Jimmy LOL… Don’t think she would want to go.

Two RM5 passes. There were RM3 ones but limited to 500 tickets and it’s sold out long time ago. It’s a 3-day event with all kind of activities from band performace to Celcom roadshow to free ice cream for children below 12 to jungle treasure hunt to the movie screening. There were 3 movies each day.

Here’s the excerpts of the event from their offical website:
Experiencing our outdoor screening event in open air! After month of planning, the “Tri-Generations Movie Carnival” event going to held on 18-20th of August 2006. This will be a very interesting event where everyday have special program and Jungle Treasure Hunt. Great prices will be given away. So bring your family, friends and your love once to watch movies under the stars with lovely environment.

I went there on Friday evening and decided no to watch it on that day. Just went there to take some pictures.

Since we couldn’t made it on Saturday, so we decided to go today and intended to watch one movie only. We reached there before 7pm and parked behind Civic Center because there weren’t proper/legal parking spaces near it. The nearest was across the road, Civic Center.

The things there were quite overpriced! Dare not to buy much things except black soya bean drink and “longan” drink for RM2 each. Should had brought my junk food along eheheh… Everyone was sitting on the floor. Some found used boxes and spreaded them on the floor to be more comfortable. The floor was rough and hard… awww… butt painful πŸ˜›

Left: View of the ppl, ah well… Too dark can’t get any nice photos.
Right: Jungle Treasur Hunt! What? Looking for brown envelopes on, in front and the back of the stage called Jungle Treaure Hunt? That’s the jungle? LOL… I didn’t join, so lazy to get up and risk getting my place seated by people.

I changed places more than 3 times to get fresher air. Damn!! Really can’t stand those smokers! Puffing non stop! I know they have the roght to smoke coz it’s not air-conditioned place but it really annoyed me. OIII! YOU DON’T WANT TO LIVE, I STIL WANT! INHALLING SECOND HAND SMOKE IS WORST THAN SMOKING! Though found a place where lucky enough that no one smoke behind me or next or in front of me but the smoke from rows behind me or from further away actually being blown here! Grrrr… I had to use tissue to cover my nose. Oh… got mosquito bit me too πŸ˜› luckily only one.

So I watched Garfield 2 that started at 7.15pm and ended around 8.30pm. Then I left that place to go somewhere else for late dinner. Not intended to stay there till the final movie that most probably would end at 1am. Too uncomfortable. Pretty torturing experience. πŸ˜›

What the xxxx that
you called that “Tri-Generations Movie Carnival”!!??!!? For the kids, for the parents for the grandparents!! Sigh… ask the old people to sit down like that it’s way too cruel and torturing. Poor grandpas and grandmas. Even young people like me couldn’t stand sitting like that, I was pretty restless that time, kept changing my sitting position to get a comfortable position but too bad… None! How do you expect those old folks to be able to stand it?

So.. that’s the end of my experience watching outdoor movie. Thanks for the tickets again!! I don’t blame you for the discomfort, don’t worry. Heheheh…
