Genting Highlands 5th January 2010

Posted on January 15, 2010January 16, 2010 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Genting Highlands 5th January 2010

Missed out something in earlier post. Before we reached the cable car station, the taxi driver brought us to Chocolate Gallery aka Cocoa Boutique at Gohtong Jaya. Well… I’m sure he will get some commission for sending us there ;p. I missed it in Penang, finally got the chance to visit it here.

The chocolate were surprisingly smooth and rich. They’re made in Malaysia and it’s halal. We tried quite a number of chocolate there and spent RM201.90 on 4 types of chocolates.

It’s better to buy the chocolate in plastic packaging rather than box because it’s much cheaper. Don’t worry about the ugliness as they will provide you with box for each packet.

Left: Panned Tiramisu Milk Almond(RM48). It’s very bitter at first but once the coat of powder is gone, the smooth and rich milk chocolate just melt in the mouth.

Right: Harriston Panned Milk, White, Dark Assortment(RM88). Haven’t open this up to eat ;p However, tried in on the spot, not bad too. Very smooth chocolate.

Left: Olivia Milk Raisin(RM16.90), bought it just to make the total reach RM200 *LOL*

Right: Harriston Durian Milk Chocolate(RM49), haven’t open this up to try yet, it will expire in March as there is no preservative and real durian is used for the filling of this chocolate. I heard quite a lot of good reviews about it so we decided to buy it.

Here’s the view from the lobby of Theme Park Hotel. Taken after came out of our room.

We walked, walked, walked aimlessly. Just to see see look look.

When it’s dinner time, we thought of going back to have chili crab at Happy Valley Seafood Restaurant at Theme Park Hotel but discovered the steamboat promotion(RM19.90++/pax) at Hot Pot. Since the night is cool, having steamboat would be fun. You can choose to have tom yam or chicken soup. We opted for chicken soup.

Too bad… Was disappointed with the choice of food available. The only thing that worth to eat was the prawn, the rest were just those fish balls, meatballs, vegetables, you know… Those usual steamboat thing that will make you bloat. The chicken meat wasn’t thinly cut and had lots of bones. You get free flow Chinese tea.

The prawns were quite fresh but it finished very fast! It’s limited too! It took them quite a while to refill. Well… Estimated from what we had, I don’t think each of us ate more than RM19.90++. Overall total was RM68.65(inclusive of GST and service charge).

Anyway, what most important is that we are no more hungry, we felt warmer ;p and it’s been a long time we don’t have steamboat session together. I think we should find a day maybe when my sister and brother are back to have a steamboat session together.

After dinner, we walked again to anywhere, everywhere, as long that there’s road to walk. Visited all the casinos too but didn’t gamble a single cent. After that, we called it a night and headed back to our room.

Kenny Rogers Roasted Eating Day

Posted on January 14, 2010 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Kenny Rogers Roasted Eating Day

Went for dinner at Kenny Rogers at tHe Spring yesterday with my family. I found out about Kenny Rogers Roasted Eating Day in Facebook and told my parents about it. Happened that my dad had been craving for it since the KL trip, he directly agreed to have dinner there.

We went, we wore red. You have to wear red or have anything red with you to entitle for the offer. Buy 1 set of Quarter Meal, you will get 1 set of Quarter Meal for free.

When we were there, there were so many tables with people in red shirts! Hehehe… It’s quite an interesting scene. There’s even a table with more than 10 people and they all wore red. A sea of people in red clothes! ;p

However, we couldn’t choose our side dishes except the muffin flavour. Had vanilla and chocolate muffin.

We ordered one set only, another set was free of charge but when they gave us the bill, they charged us 2 sets! Didn’t realized it, we made the payment, then later noticed something amiss. Shouldn’t exceed RM50 even with the drinks!

We waited for them to come back with our change and told them about the mistake in the bill. Luckily we paid by cash. They told us the transaction already went tru’ and it couldn’t be canceled. They told us that they will let us take away the other set but only one set. It should be 2 sets if they were to let us takeaway since we’re there for the offer and we were wrongly charged. We didn’t want to and insisted them to refund. Partly it’s our fault too for not checking the bill properly before paying but who would expect them to make such mistake?!?!

At the end, they paid us back the balance. End of drama. What would they do with it, I’m not sure but I’m sure they could do something about it by adjusting the orders with those that haven’t pay the bill yet. *shrug*

Air Asia & Genting Highlands 5th January 2010

Posted on January 13, 2010January 13, 2010 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Air Asia & Genting Highlands 5th January 2010

My very first trip with my parents. I mean going somewhere out of Kuching ;p

Flight at 11.50am. Weather was fine and flight was on time. Love the clouds.

Since it’s noon, we had lunch on board. First time pre-book the food. You can save 20% if you pre-book your food. Just present your boarding pass and you will be served. You will be served first before they start selling the food on board.

Left: Chicken Ham & Cheese Sandwich that was supposed to be roti canai but they changed their menu. Sandwich as it is.
Right: Bukhara Chicken Briyani, don’t really like it. It came with a small cup of water.

Wanted to claim my bro’s food which was nasi lemak since he won’t be going on the flight but the check-in counter girl said cannot… Wasted… Aih… I should have order the nasi lemak under my name rather than the roti canai.

Left: Chicken rice, not so bad. This also came with a small cup of water.

Right: We decided to go to KL Sentral instead of going to Genting direct from LCCT because it was too expensive! RM217!! We went to KL Sentral, paid RM27 for 3 persons. We wasted too much time waiting for the Skybus to start moving as the bus wasn’t full. Everything became way behind schedule.

Then took a taxi to Genting that cost us RM90. Actually only RM80 but since the taxi driver was so friendly and down to earth, my dad decided to give him RM10 tip. This photo was taken at a nearby petrol station as we went for the toilet.

The taxi sent us to the skyway station. The ride up there cost RM15 for 3 persons.

Luckily we took taxi else our room will be gone! We must check-in before 6pm and we reached the hotel at around 5.30pm. That was close! If we’re using bus, we won’t be in time. Furthermore it took us quite a while to walk to Theme Park Hotel from the skyway station because it’s very far away. The entrance wasn’t far from the outdoor theme park entrance.

The quad room I booked last year. Only RM78.80! What a steal! First World Hotel got very small room, less facilities, price was almost the same and only could fit 2 persons. Theme Park Hotel… 4 persons! Room was big and we got very nice view. Inclusive of breakfast for 2.

The pictures here do not justify the beauty though. What to do? I’m a lousy photographer ;p You really have to see it with your own eyes. Can’t wait to show you the sunrise view.

I Got Platinum Credit Card!

Posted on January 12, 2010 By sweet surrender 22 Comments on I Got Platinum Credit Card!

I was still in bed and my home phone rang, woke up to answer and some courier company people said they got something to send over to my place. I thought what was that so important and it turned out to be a Platinum Credit Card by Standard Chartered.

How can that be?!? I’m not even qualified for a silver card don’t even say a platinum card! It was quite funny in way.

Never in my dream that I can even get a platinum card, never seen a real one or touch one before and now it’s right in front of me. They provide me with 2-year annual fee waiver and only RM6k credit limit. *LOL* Very funny. I don’t think I heard of such low credit limit for a platinum card.

The colour is nice and the word “Platinum” gives the card the classy appeal ;p.

I checked the bank’s site and found out that you must have at least an income of RM60,000 p.a. to qualified for it but I don’t even have that!

Wondering about the benefits? Here you go…
FREE Unlimited Access* to KLIA Premium Plaza Lounge
Complimentary Travel Accident Insurance
Complimentary Purchase Protection
Platinum Travel Deals
Platinum Kris Flyer Air Miles
Platinum Golf
Half Price Dining
Priority Dining
Triple Choice Points
Platinum Share Points
Platinum Wish List
Platinum Choice Points Express
Platinum Privileges
Platinum Signature Events
Platinum Surprises
Platinum Concierge Service
Platinum Hotline
and more…

I don’t need those! *LOL* What the hell do I need those for?!?

It seems like banks nowadays are getting desperate. Everyone canceling their credit cards because the government is charging each primary card for RM50.

The banks are hoping that some people will start using those free cards sent to them as if they are getting free money to spend. Then later these people will not be able to pay the debts. There are many people like this but I’m not going to fall into the stupid trap.

What am I going to do with it? I’m not going to activate it and just let it terminate on its own after February as I’m given until the end of February to activate it.

Anyway, at least I finally got to see a real Platinum card and what’s more?!?! With my name printed on it! *LOL* I know some of my friends have been trying hard to get one but couldn’t even get one yet I get one without even doing anything. ;p

Interesting

Summary of Genting-KL Trip 5th-8th January 2010

Posted on January 11, 2010January 11, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on Summary of Genting-KL Trip 5th-8th January 2010

I haven’t got the time to edit the photos for the post. I’ll just do a summary for now in case some of you wonder how my trip went.

5th January:
Bye bye Kuching… Hello KL and Genting…

Noon flight to KL using Air Asia, weather was good. Had meals on board, ordered it when I bought the tickets. Thinking of catching a ride direct to Genting from LCCT but was turned off by the fare. So ended up headed to KL Sentral. Thought of buying the bus ticket to Genting but due to the time and seeing that the buses were empty and not many people buying tickets, I decided to look for taxi. Found one, RM80 to go up to Genting. Took the offer. Luckily! Else our room would be gone! We must check-in before 6pm, reached the check-in counter at 5.30pm! If we were to take the bus, we would be in big trouble. Stayed in the quad room of Theme Park Hotel. Only RM78.80/night! What an offer I managed to get. Could not sleep the whole night, suffering!

6th January:
Bye bye Genting… Hello to KL again…

Took bus to KL Sentral at 12pm. Had Burger King there before looking for taxi to go to 41Berangan. Almost got slaughtered by some taxi drivers. Checked-in, then headed out to KLCC but we got lost trying to navigate our way to Bukit Bintang for taxi *LOL* In fact, Bukit Bintang was only few steps away from the junction we came out! We walked the wrong direction and got ourselves turning and turning at the same area so many times. Silly! Again, almost got slaughtered by another taxi driver. Finally got a taxi to KLCC, spent the afternoon there. Then went back to Bukit Bintang using LRT and monorail. Spent the night away at Sungei Wang and BB Plaza.

7th January:
Went to Pavilion and Lot 10 in the morning. Was pretty indecisive whether to go to 1Utama or Mid Valley. Ended up, went to 1Utama and regretted it. Was thinking of buying clothes there as I’ve been getting my clothes there every time I visit KL but not this time. Quite wasted(time and money) to be honest. Had dinner at TGI Friday at 1Utama before calling it a night. Lucky to get an honest taxi driver and luckily no jam! Slept quite early, before 11pm hehehe…

8th January:
Going back to Sungei Wang and bought some clothes there. Then Low Yat Plaza to see see look look. Next, went to Time Square. Bought a dress and Krispy Kreme there. Had lunch at the popular pan mee place just few houses away from the place we’re staying. Make final adjustment to our luggage due to one being overweight and waited for taxi to the airport. Reached the airport extremely early! Flight at almost 8pm yet we were already there at around 4pm. Didn’t know there’s new road that could reach the airport in more or less 1 hour hahaha… Loitered around the airport with my parents, munching on junk food my dad bought, killing our time. Flight was delayed for few minutes only.

Bye bye KL… Hello Kuching!

Basically, we spent most of our time getting lost inside the shopping malls! Hahaha… When you don’t need the exit, you kept seeing it; when you need the exit, you can’t seem to find the correct exit or even one exit!

It was a bit hard to navigate around KL, so much of going to KL more than once yet I still have problem navigate around ;p Oh well… What to do? All these while I had people driving me around KL. This is the first time I navigated on my own and had my parents with me. It’s their first time there. So you can imagine how my situation was. Pretty stress in a way but great experience and happy to be able to go holiday with them.

Lastly, my camera was very under utilized throughout the trip because I’ve been to those places and took enough photos of them already. Just took photos of my parents and I only had 2 photos taken, one with my dad, one with my mum.
