Month: September 2009

MBO @ tHe Spring

Posted on September 9, 2009September 10, 2009 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on MBO @ tHe Spring

Decided to go to MBO @ tHe Spring today. Today is the first day of opening. Last night was the official opening ceremony. I’m pretty sure this cinema will be filled to the brim for months. It’s new so everyone wants a piece of it and also because many are fed up with Star. Star really needs to buck up else they will suffer a lot!

Since today is 090909, many people took leaves just to celebrate this day with their other halves as I saw quite many people taking this opportunity to watch movie with their other halves.

Left: Hehehe… My sis spotted this sign. “No pets allowed” in Malay but they printed as “Pets allowed” ;p Original sign is wrong, “Haiwan tidak dilarang masuk”. Then the “tidak” was censored with masking tape, so it’s correct now hahaha…

I was thinking, this place is going to be packed for months, every single day and it’s going to be packed surely at nights, weekends and public holidays. So I thought it would be better to go on weekdays during office hour, at least it won’t be so packed but wow… There were still quite a lot of people even though it’s not packed for weekdays and office hour. I guess it’s because today is 090909. I heard it was so packed just now. Phew…

Lots of mirrors there, camwhored!

We watched Up at Hall 2. I heard quite a lot of good reviews about Up, that’s why we went for this movie. Not many people watched this movie, hmm… less than 20. Watched the 4.15pm show, not in time to go for 2.15pm show. Ticket was RM7/person.

I thought it will be very cold in there but it was just nice, not too cold and I don’t need to wear my sweater.

The sound was pretty good and the place was clean hahaha… Of course! It’s new! However, I’m not sure how clean will it be in the future. I don’t like to go to cinema because it’s pretty dirty, that explains why I don’t go to watch movie for quite sometimes. Hopefully MBO will ensure that cleanliness is their top priority and don’t end up like you-know-where.

Everything was fine but the toilet needs improvements *LOL* At least have something for the girls to hang their bags in the cubicle. Can provide tissue papers or not? ;p

As for the movie, Up, it was really good! The characters are so cute. It’s so sweet and tears jerking too. If only I’m watching this with my darling.

While watching the movie, something in there motivated me a bit, “Thanks for the adventure. Now go have one of your own.” It did help boost me up a bit. Time to look for my own adventure! Just one problem… Where and how to look for one? Need more inspirations… Hahaha…

Can’t wait for the karaoke to open at tHe Spring! I want to go to the opening!! Can? *LOL* I know… People will say, “who are you to be invited to go?!?!”. So what?!? *blek* Itching to sing K now.

Review It!, Uniquely Kuching

Singapore Trip: Day 3(19/8/09): Part 3.5: Marina Bay

Posted on September 8, 2009September 9, 2009 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Singapore Trip: Day 3(19/8/09): Part 3.5: Marina Bay

After dinner, we headed to Marina Bay. Along the way, I took some night scenes. Love the night scenes but it’s quite hard to take proper photo of them without tripod.

What you see here is Clarke Quay(or is it Boat Quay?) at night.

Resorted to use any stable surface to take these photos.

Walked, walked, walked and you can see The Fullerton Hotel, 6-star hotel! Wonder when will I have the chance to stay in one of the rooms? Took some photos in there but was all blurred.

From there, we walked to One Fullerton.

The Merlion Park. Can you see the Singapore Flyer(the photo on the left, just above my head)? Too bad there’s a bit of haze that time so the photos were not so nice. Took photos with the baby Merlion and The mama Merlion.

See the durian? The huge building there? Hehehe… That’s Explanade – Theatres on the Bay.

Last shoot before leaving, the highway.

That’s the end of day 3, finally! ;p We reached Sembawang at almost 11pm. Luckily my friend drove us back. Was so tired, I don’t think I would have the energy to walk to the nearest MRT and then had to switch stations again. It was so late until my aunt thought that we lost our way home hahaha… Thanks for the ride and the dinner.

Singapore Trip: Day 3(19/8/09): Part 3.4: Red House, Robertson Walk

Posted on September 7, 2009November 11, 2009 By sweet surrender No Comments on Singapore Trip: Day 3(19/8/09): Part 3.4: Red House, Robertson Walk

Let’s come back to my trip post, birthday post will be put on hold for the time being as I don’t have any photo for it.

After Clarke Quay, my friend brought us to Robertson Walk.

I love the place the minute I stepped my foot there! I love the ambiance. I can imagine my wedding being held here *LOL* But this will be just dream because it’s not possible for me to have my wedding here, fly all my guests to Singapore? Book this whole place down? It’s crazy! Hahaha… In real life, I won’t be doing all these, very troublesome and wasting money, just sign and go will do. I don’t care about the wedding, all I care is the marriage.

*BLEK* Anyway ;p Enough of the fantasy. Let’s go to place we had our dinner, it’s called Red House. A Chinese restaurant. Just walked along the river and you will spot it.

Left: A section of the place. There’s a huge ceiling fan. I did take the photo but can’t see a thing because it’s turning and couldn’t fit into my lens, it’s so HUGE! Found something similar in the Internet, bigassfans.com, go check it out, it’s something like that.

Right: Chinese tea, free flow, don’t know how much was the charge.

Left: Signature Creamy Custard Prawn(SGD7 for 100gm), NICE prawns! Yum yum… This is one of their signature dish, not disappointing at all, two thumbs up from me. *drool*

Right: Braised Spinach Tofu & Honshimeji Mushroom topped with Crisp Conpoy (small, SGD14), very unique tofu. Don’t know how to explain the taste but it tasted good for me. This is also their signature dish.

Left: New Zealand Tender Venison on Sizzling Hot Plate(medium, SGD27) Quite nice, tasted good and very tender. Also their signature dish.

Right: Red House Mee Goreng(small, SGD12), obviosuly this si also their signature dish. Hmm… Nothing much to rave about it, it’s just Malay style mee goreng. Pretty spicy though for those that cannot tolerate spiciness.

Left: Braised Ee Fu Noodle with Assorted Mushroom and Chives(small, SGD10), the noodle is quite “Q”, tasted not bad too.

Right: Sambal Kang Kong(I assume this is small, SGD10) tasted so-so but very very spicy.

There was a small dish of peanuts and they did provide us with wet towel too. These two are charged too of course and it’ll be automatically added to your bill.

The total was hehehe… Quite expensive, more than SGD100! It’s my friend’s treat. Feel so paiseh la… Next time you come to Kuching, I’ll treat you really really well hahaha… That’s all I can do to pay your deed for treating us expensive meal and drove us around.

I managed to exchange name card with the manager there. This is the only place where I didn’t get weird glares or stares when I took photos of the food.

I quite like this place even though the food price is a bit high but if the figures are in Ringgit, it’s pretty reasonable.

After the dinner we went to Fullerton Hotel, One Fullerton, and Merlion Park. That will be next post.

The Venue

Posted on September 6, 2009September 6, 2009 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on The Venue

Had my birthday dinner at The Venue, RH Plaza. Didn’t know where to go and dad suggested this place as he went there for his gathering the other day and wanted us to try the food. It’s not that the food is good that he brought us there, it’s just to let us try out what he had tried since we’ve never been there.

Didn’t order much. First dish was mixed vegetables(RM16). It’s quite salty but part of the portion was tasteless -.-”

Second dish was O Jien(RM20), only 10 oysters on it. Very crispy. It tasted it supposed to be tasted but a bit expensive compare to other places that we had before.

Third dish was beehoon special(RM20). EXPENSIVE! Kinda salty too. There’s a lot of dried prawns. Portion was a bit big for 5 of us. However, still managed to finish it.

Fourth dish was deer meat with ginger(RM15). Hmm… The mixed vegetables is cheaper than the deer meat. Anyway, extremely salty -.-” We complained to them and they said will cook a new one for us. When it came, it was still so salty but my dad said it’s not. Then I tried the portion at my dad’s side, it’s not that salty, then he tried the portion at my side, it was. Aiyayaya… The salt wasn’t properly mix *sweat*

The last dish was buttered prawn(RM20). First time in my life having salty buttered prawn. I ate, ate, ate, it was salty but my mom said it was not. We suspected they might have mix up the salt and sugar and added salt twice, else how come all the food so salty?!!? Then I ate the last piece, guess what!??! It’s tasteless. Could taste the sweetness but only a bit and the salt overpowered the sweetness.

According to my dad, that time when he had all those food with his friends, it tasted different. Hmm… I really wonder what was wrong that night? Salt instead of sugar? Hmm…

So… There you go… My salty birthday dinner. Total bill came to RM98.40 inclusive of 2 bowls of plain rice and 3 tinned drinks. I would say this is quite expensive. We were all not very satisfied with the food. Rather go to eat seafood. Usually we had seafood, the bill would only come to a total of below RM80.

Summary of My 27th Birthday

Posted on September 5, 2009December 6, 2009 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Summary of My 27th Birthday

My birthday is quite different this year. All these years, my birthday is reserved only for my family because I believe that birthday should be celebrate with family, family should be the priority. Usually we will just go out to have dinner. We never have any major celebration such as birthday party, even for 21st birthday.

27 years, I seldom celebrate with my friends, can even count with less than 10 fingers. Even if my friends want to celebrate with me, it will be in advance or after the actual day, it is pretty rare.

Nothing much happened during the day, got sms-es, Facebook’s wishes, and one phone call(surprisingly, it’s from Mike) hahaha…

At night, went out for dinner at The Venue, RH Plaza. Expensive one -.-” not very satisfying, I mean the food but I’m satisfied to have dinner with my family. Will talk about it in coming post.

Then off to tHe Spring to buy some cakes from Secret Recipe. Will also blog about the cakes in coming post.

Reached home at around 9.30pm, Lee told me he’s on his way to pick me up! I was shocked. It’s so late already, I never go out so late. I thought of rejecting but he said he already told other friends that we will be meeting them. I knew he wanted to celebrate my birthday as he’s been asking me my plan but I didn’t expect him to call up other friends(actually only Ann and Jee ;p) too.

We went to Jase Tea Room. The cake you see here is baked by Lee. Ann got me something which it happened to be something I’m thinking of getting but not so soon and now I have them already. Thanks my friends! It’s a small celebration(only 4 of us hehehe…) with big meaning. Oh! Send me those photos. I need them for blogging ;p

We’ve known each other for almost 10 years and this is the first time we celebrate a birthday together. Believe it! This is how unique our friendship is. Thanks for taking your time and trouble to celebrate my birthday with me.

I’ll blog about this too in coming post. So many pending posts ;p

Thanks again everyone.
