The Barber

Posted on December 5, 2015December 5, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on The Barber

The Barber (74, Lebuh Wayang, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak) is located next to The Junk.

Been wanting to try it but chickened out because the place looked spooky with all those old barber shop props in there especially the fake heads. It was a barber shop before. Finally one day, we have no choice as The Junk was fully booked, so we had to go to The Barber. Reluctant but still went.

The interior design is very unique, certainly something you don’t get anywhere in Kuching.

Few months back, the kitchen wasn’t ready so the menu was from The Junk. Now, they have their own menu serving gourmet Asian fusion food but you can still order the food from The Junk.

We ordered from both restaurants, The Barber and The Junk.

Left: I think this should be “Truffle” French Fries with Grated Parmesan (RM12). It’s ok, tasted as it should. Not oily.

Right: Shrimp pasta (RM26), linguini pasta in creamy sauce, capers, lemon with Cajun spiced shrimps. According to the person who ordered this, it’s just normal.

Left: Grilled Salmon (RM36), Salmon steak on a bed of quinoa salsa, rocket salad and tomatoes with lemon and dill sauce. Unfortunately, the fish was overcooked, too dried. Definitely a one person portion, cannot be something for sharing.

Right: From The Junk, one of our favourites, Duck Mango Salad (RM38). Definitely a sharing portion. This time around was a bit too spicy and wet but still good.

Overall, price wise, it’s high. Portion is not as big as we expected and the taste is just average. Will I come back? Depends on who I’m going with as my usual dining companion doesn’t like the environment of the place, she said it’s spooky hahaha…

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
