Sarawak Cultural Village

Posted on July 8, 2016July 8, 2016 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Sarawak Cultural Village

Sarawak Cultural Village is a living museum located at the foothills of Mt. Santubong. My first time there was in 1994. Hehehe… This is my second visit.

This is also the venue for the World Harvest Festival and the Rainforest World Music Festival which will be happening in less than a month.

Not only you get to see replicas of traditional houses of different races and experience different cultures, the scenery with the magnificent mountain as the background is just surreal!

Left: Some handicrafts for sale and display.
Right: The bamboo bridge that you should experience. It’s not that scary, just a replica. The real thing will be even more thrilling.

Left: Bidayuh house, the baruk.
Right: These are some of the things meant to ward off evils from the Iban longhouse.

Inside and outside of the longhouse.

Left: Forgot what building is this, if not mistaken it’s a hall.
Right: Penan hut where you can try to shoot target with blowpipe. There’s also a Penan Nature Trail for your to discover.

Chinese and Malay house.

View of the lake and Orang Ulu Longhouse.

There’s a lot more that I didn’t cover as we were running out of time. Anyway, it’s a great place to experience and learn about Sarawak culture and heritage in few hours.

Lastly, here’s a video to show you some performances from the cultural show.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
