Shoes Shopping @ VISS

Posted on September 18, 2008November 21, 2008 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on Shoes Shopping @ VISS

Because some people never do their jobs, we are the one that got the blame when something’s wrong! When it’s going fine, they even dared to claim the credits! It’s not that we never delegate or put in any trust but we were let down again and again and at the end we had to do it ourselves! DAMN IT! You call that team work?!?!?

Few weeks back when the whole of Malaysia was having mega sales, I went to tHe Spring to shop for shoes with my sister. We went into every single shops that sell shoes including Parkson(found some there but no size -.-) and at the end we ended up buying at VISS. I wanted to buy something for my Penang trip because I don’t have a proper footware for travelling after my sandals gave up on me in the last trip to KL.

I was looking for something not so flat, not so high that can let me walk, walk, walk without much problem when travelling, and practical enough for everyday used. Sport shoes is out because I hate bringing socks along when travelling, I hate wearing socks and also I don’t like my feet to be fully wrapped inside for more than 12 hours without much ventilation. Since I’m not going anywhere with cold weather so I won’t bother getting a sport shoes. Summore I only wear my sport shoes like once in a blue moon, why waste such money right? I would rather invest in something I will wear everyday.

I was thinking of getting something that covers the toes this time such as ballerina pump instead of the usual toes peeping sandals. I tried many and they were too hard or too flat for my liking, I need a bit of height, I’m short! I am extremely afraid of blisters therefore I never buy pumps or heels that are fully wrapped. I’ve been a strappy stiletto heels and sandals wearer for more than 10 years! ;p

It took me ages to look for one since months back all over Kuching *LOL* Like I said before, I am very particular when buying footwares ;p I don’t want to spend more than RM40 for a footware anymore especially something like sandals. All my expensive footwares gave up on me earlier than the cheap ones either because of inferior quality(branded ones summore!) or accident. Sigh… As if I’m jinxed that I cannot own any expensive shoes.

Finally at VISS, I found one ballerina pumps. It’s not hard like all those I had tried before and it’s quite cute though it’s plain and simple. Also it didn’t feel like I’m not wearing anything and suddenly I feel so flat and short hahaha… With 10% discount, it’s below RM40! Fit my budget and something that my feet like.

Here you go after yakking so much…

We bought two shoes! My sis bought a pair of strappy stiletto heel with 50% discount and only cost her about RM30+.

Left: My sis’ purchase. Fits me very well ;p

Right: My first ever ballerina pump that is less than 2 and half inches high. I’m wearing it and *HORROR* my vains were showing like no body business and I had to edit this photo *LOL* I didn’t see them when I tried it at the shop due to the lighting and because I’m wearing long pants -.- That’s another reason why I don’t want to wear something too flat, the flatter it is, the worst it will look. So how? I managed to find a way to reduce the vains from showing by inserting Party Feet inside!

I haven’t officially wear it yet, I still very much prefer slip and go sandals *LOL* It’s not easy to wear with the two straps there as I’m always in a rush to go out 😉

More New Gift Ideas From Heartbeat

Posted on September 18, 2008April 5, 2009 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on More New Gift Ideas From Heartbeat

I just found out that there’s new magic mug available in Heartbeat now. It’s much better than the previous one because it’s printed with various patterns instead of just plain black. If you look carefully at the plain black magic mug, you can see the hidden messages/pictures on the mug but with patterns printed ones, it’s not that noticeable because people would just think that the cup is just printed with patterns. It will be a very good surprise gift for your loved ones.

Oh… Heartbeat had just revamped their website not long ago and added many new gift options in there. Why don’t you go and check them out. I’m sure you will find something that you like.

Since it’s wedding season now, I have some ideas for you that I’m sure it will make your wedding much more personalised. Get your own wedding door knob, your own wedding car sign, your very own wedding keychain and so much more!

Besides that, I’m sure many of you do give gifts to your friends that are getting married besides giving them ang pao, you can customised all these and give it to your friends that are getting married as a gift for them. I’m sure they will be very happy getting such gift from you, it’s special and it’s one of its kind 😉

Kafe Bunda, Ayam Penyet Session

Posted on September 17, 2008September 24, 2008 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Kafe Bunda, Ayam Penyet Session

Last night during our class break, our Muslim classmates asked us to join them for breaking fast. Supposed to be half an hour break but we extended it till 1 hour. They asked the whole class including the lecturer to go since our class was at night and clashed with dinner and breaking fast time but they didn’t want to. However, almost the whole class went.

Initial plan was to go to the stalls just next to the ex-state mosque but they changed plan because it’s not opened and the food is limited since majority that would be going are Chinese and they were afraid that we didn’t know how to eat those *LOL* Off we went, Dayang and Jazemine drove us there.

Kafe Bunda is located at the shop lot next to AmBank at Jalan Haji Taha near Satok. It’s at the road side and it’s easy to locate.

According to Jazemine, this is one of the places she patrons for food. They ordered something we all had never seen before! It was a gastronomy experience really… Living in Kuching for my whole 26 years and I don’t even know such food exist!

It’s called Ayam Penyet. The sambal(chili) is really SYIOK! YUMMILICIOUS! The chicken is tender and juicy. Those greens are either blanched or raw, in other word we called it “ulam”. It’s really tasty. We didn’t eat much as we had our dinner already, we just got some from them to try and accompanied them and we gossiped! Girls… What to do? *LOL*

This is my first time breaking fast with my Muslim friends even though I had many Muslim friends back then in secondary school, we never done anything like this. This is also my first time see and taste Ayam Penyet! Not only that, it’s also my first time hang out with all girls with no guys, I usually hang out with many guys in a group or I’m the only girl ;p How can we not take photos right? We don’t get to do this everyday.

Hmm… Don’t think they will mind to have their faces shown here hehehe… Any familiar face(s)? So who went that night? (In no particular order) Hui Siew, Nicole, Anastasia, Esther, Dayang, Jazemine, Irene(this is another Irene, yea… I have a classmate with the same name as me) and I. This number of poeple is almost the whole class already.

Our class is very naughty and we always got a lot of junk food supplies during class or break. Food would be passed from one to another during class, busy munching on our junk food and our poor lecturer would be in front teaching. Everyone eats from the same packaging regardless of races, this is the spirit that we all Malaysians should have.

While people was busy with 9/16, we we were busy having Ayam Penyet session.

Pending Seafood Centre

Posted on September 16, 2008September 16, 2008 By sweet surrender 13 Comments on Pending Seafood Centre

It’s been a long long long long time not having seafood meal with my family. We used to go to Pending Seafood Centre quite often more than 10 years back, we stopped going there for no apparent reason and we only patroned one of the seafood restaurants at Buntal. Then after that, for don’t-know-how-many-years we didn’t go to Buntal for seafood anymore.

Last Sunday was Mooncake Festival and my dad decided to go to Pending Seafood Centre for seafood lunch as my sis complained that last year when she was back, we didn’t go to have seafood at any seafood restaurant but only had seafood at home ;p.

This is the first time we dined at L&L Seafood. This one can be seen from the parking lot. We used to go to the one at the back, don’t remember the name.

Left: Midin with belacan. Not so bad. By the way, if you come to Kuching, you must have this coz you can’t get it anywhere else except Sarawak. I’m not sure Sabah got or not. This is something we will feast our friends from outside Sarawak with and surprisingly they LOVE it! Many actually crave for it when they gone back home.
Right: Sea cucumber soup. Tasteless…

Left: Bamboo clam with curry or in Hokkien we called it “tek ham choo curry“, this you see here got the shells removed. It’s on the sweeter note but it tasted OK.
Right: Buttered prawn. It’s quite nice though it’s not the best.

“O jien” or oyster omelette. This is also something we will bring our friends from outside Kuching to eat. *SLURP* ARG…. Make me hungry ;p

There you go… Our Mooncake Festival lunch at Pending Seafood Centre. Total damage including drinks were RM75+

Farewell Dinner & Karaoke

Posted on September 15, 2008September 16, 2008 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Farewell Dinner & Karaoke

Was invited to Ivelyn’s farewell party at Sharing Planet last week as she’s leaving to UK for her studies today.

The drinks we had and since it’s a Tuesday, it’s Ladies’ Night at Sharing Planet and each lady was given with a glass of lemon mint. Here are some of the drinks that we ordered are Honey Milk, Orange Juice, Watermelon Milk, Carrot Juice, and don’t-know-what-tea 😛

Here are some the food we had…

Left: Spaghetti Bolognaise(RM9.80)
Right: Spaghetti Carbonara(RM11.80)

Left: Tuna Ceaser Salad(RM7.80), portion is HUGE! Eat this will be enough to make you full already even though it’s only appetiser. Quite nice but I don’t like tuna ;p
Right: Double Cheezyland(RM12.80), I’m poor this month… So I ordered chicken, else I would be ordering beef. This is pretty tasty and very filling. Portion is quite big for me, I had to ask those around me to help me finish it. It’s actually breaded boneless chicken layered with melted cheese and parsley garlic butter.

Left: Lemon Butter Salmon, not idea of the price but it looked pretty luxurious.
Right: Marinated Lamb Shoulder(RM16.80)

Have you ever get a birthday celebration 6 months in advance? Odd I tell you! Just because she won’t be able to have her 21st birthday here next year they celebrated it earlier with her. IT IS WEIRD! *LOL* Initially was a farewell dinner and it became surprise birthday celebration but she wasn’t surprised because timing was wrong.

A group photo for the night after all the birthday thing. There are:
Angel, Xin Yi, Grace, Jean, me, Serene, Yien Yien, Ivelyn, Jimmy, Jojo, Fedrick, Isaac, Michael, Kenneth(the owner of Sharing Planet) and his fiance(I think…)

Then… Few days later… Guess what we did? We went to sing karaoke at Enter K and she got another surprise birthday celebration! This time it did give her a surprise. GOSH! You say is this crazy or what?!?! Anyway, the cheesecake was really yummy!

Here… The “birthday” girl and our group photo.
