La Beauté Expo (LBE) 2009

Posted on May 9, 2009May 9, 2009 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on La Beauté Expo (LBE) 2009

Just a quick update on this. I went there last night to catch the stage show, Maison Monica – Makeup Show.

Before we went in, we had to register ourselves. There are many booths not only from local merchants but also from outstation. Kinda impressed with it at first. Later when I reached the stage, it was disappointing -.-”

Anyway, I’m given with TRADE sticker instead of VISITOR hahaha… In fact I was kinda blur actually. Simply filled in the form and left my name card and automatically they gave me this sticker. I should have just tell them I’m there for a visit only ;p Don’t care…

Also got a SISTERS magazine, April issue. I thought it’s May issue duh~ They have 4000 copies to giveaway for first 4000 visitors.

Oh! One good news for Loreal users, go get your products stock up if you want because they are having 20% discount!! Not bad. I would have get something there but I don’t have anything to stock up now so there is no point to buy.

There’s still today and tomorrow. Go check it out if you want.
Date: 8th – 10th May 2009
Time: 10AM – 9PM
Venue: 5th Floor, Permata Exhibition Hall, Kuching, Sarawak

Lots of photos from the stage show to filter, will update about it when I’m free. Having full swing class today -.-” No public holiday for me. As if public holiday got anything to do with me, holiday or not, makes no difference to me now.

tHe Spring Spring & Summer Fashion Show 2009 – Esprit

Posted on May 8, 2009May 8, 2009 By sweet surrender No Comments on tHe Spring Spring & Summer Fashion Show 2009 – Esprit

The third fashion show on last Saturday was by Esprit. Was told that the outfits they’re wearing were the same as those on Friday night. I missed the one on Friday night because I already had plan with my friends so had to let go of the chance to be the invited guest. I heard invited guests got a pair of sandals in their goodie bags that night ;p

Anyway, fashion from Esprit.

This brand is too expensive for me. Believe it or not, I had never step into this shop since the beginning. However, I did visit this shop before in KL. Still I came out empty handed. Seeing the prices is enough to make me break cold sweats.

I know… Compare to some other brands, this is still cheaper but mind you, I don’t buy branded clothes. All my clothes are below RM50, even just RM50, I also had to think twice whether to buy or not. With my standard, how is it possible for me to say this is cheap? -.-“

Glutinous Rice Ball With Soya Bean Milk

Posted on May 7, 2009May 8, 2009 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Glutinous Rice Ball With Soya Bean Milk

I don’t really like the usual tang yuan or glutinous rice ball but I like those with fillings especially with peanut.

Went shopping the other day with my parents and I saw this frozen glutinous rice ball (RM4+) and decided to buy one to try.

It’s very easy to cook this. Great for lazy people like me ;p Just take out from the freezer, boil a pot of water, put the rice balls in and wait until they float. Add sugar to the water to taste.

Be careful though… They burst easily once they’re cooked as you can see in the photo, there are some peanuts in the syrup.

I really like it. Quick and easy.

Anyway, what I shared earlier is the lazy way. There’s a recipe provided at the back of the packet. I’ll share it here with you, also as a reference for myself:

Ingredients:
2 packets of glutinous rice ball
250gm soya beans
15 cups of water (I have no idea 15 cups refer to big, medium or small cup, I guess if you want it thick then use medium or small else use big cups for more diluted soya milk)
Sugar (depending on how sweet you want it to be)

Instructions:-
Make soya bean milk:

  1. Wash soya beans and soak it overnight.
  2. Blend the soya beans by adding water until it turns into liquid paste.
  3. Boil remaining water.
  4. Pour the soya bean paste into the boiled water and stir frequently until boil.
  5. Filter the boiled soya bean milk.
  6. Boil it again for 5 minutes.

If you want to save time or feel lazy, maybe just go to the market to buy the ready made soya bean milk will do. It’s the same thing. Not the box one OK? However, if you want to use the one from the box, I don’t think it’s wrong at all. It’s up to you.

Prepare glutinous rice balls:

  1. Take out from the freezer.
  2. Boil a pot of water.
  3. Put the rice balls in and wait until they float.

Serve:
Serve the glutinous rice balls with the soya bean milk. Add sugar to taste.

tHe Spring Spring & Summer Fashion Show 2009 – Ms. Read

Posted on May 6, 2009May 7, 2009 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on tHe Spring Spring & Summer Fashion Show 2009 – Ms. Read

Next up after G2000 fashion show, it was Ms. Read fashion show. As you know, Ms. Read specialized in selling clothing for plus size women. I was wondering how will the plus size models in Kuching would be like. I’m sure you are wondering about it also.

I was expecting plus size girls in their 20’s but they turned out to be aunties! Where were all the young plus size girls in Kuching? I know many plus size girls that are young and pretty but where are they for this fashion show? No offence… I just didn’t expect aunties to walk the runway. Something new to me.

Here you go!

I definitely cannot fit in any of these *LOL*

Update: It seems like this post has hurt some of the models, all I can say is that I’m sorry for the choice of words and the way I expressed myself. Just like what was stated in the comment, I’m a small town girl, a small town girl has never seen the world. You ladies have in fact open up the world to small town people like us and seriously and sincerely, you ladies do look good in those outfits. That’s why I posted these photos to prove that the statements I made above were wrong else you think I will bother?

Star Chef

Posted on May 5, 2009 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Star Chef

Star Chef, consider it a new place. Wanted to go since long time ago but no one wanted to go with me sigh…

Finally, went to have dinner with my friends on 1st May at Star Chef. Our initial plan was to have western food because Star Chef served western food but when we were there, they no longer have western food. They have new menu now and it got us all disappointed. It was so hard to make choices because of the price and the food type.

The location of the place is very easy to find. Just opposite Chung Hua Primary School No. 3. It’s along the main road. At night, this is the only place open and it’s the brightest shop among the row of shops.

The interior is brightly lit with bright colours.

The drinks, Local Coffee with Milk (RM1.70), Peppermint Tea(RM2) and Local Coffee ‘O’ with no sugar(RM1.70).

You will see why it’s hard to order the food and the price is really expensive. I should have replace the rice with fries, the rice is so little.

Left: Chicken meat (RM10), Japanese Teppanyaki Set with rice, vegetables and soup. The sauce for this was terriyaki sauce.
Right: Pork meat (RM10), Japanese Teppanyaki Set with rice, vegetables and soup. The sauce for this was black pepper sauce.

Left: Beef striploin(RM19.50), 200GM, Japanese Teppanyaki Set with rice, vegetables and soup. The sauce for this was black pepper sauce.

Basically you can choose to have terriyaki or black pepper sauce for your meat.

Right: The miso soup, so salty -.-”

So you see… With these food and price, I think charging RM10 is a bit too expensive. However the meat wasn’t too bad except the pork, very tough.

I heard they will be changing menu again maybe they will change it every few months. Currently they also have American breakfast.

Will I go back again? I don’t think so but maybe unless they change the menu again. I don’t like this menu.
