KFC Street Wise

Posted on April 21, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on KFC Street Wise

After visitng Port Adelaide, we went to the nearby KFC for lunch. Believe it or not? I’ve been here for almost a month but I had never eaten KFC even though there’s one downstair the place I’m staying *LOL*

Ordered the Streetwise Double Crunch Burger meal (AUD5.95). It came with a can of Pepsi.

Left: Chips/Fries. I like it, it’s so different from Malaysia’s. The seasoning was a bit too much for me though. Still, it’s OK.

Right: Double Crunch Burger.

There you go… Quite nice, even when it’s already cold. The KFC here is really nice than back home. I heard so much of people saying the KFC here tastes good. Indeed! Finally tasted it.

Don’t worry, I won’t go downstair to get it. It’s still a bit too pricey for me. Not something I can indulge in always. It’s a luxury hahaha…

Slacking

Posted on April 20, 2011April 20, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Slacking

Ok… I’m slacking now ;p I mean from blogging. Can’t find time to edit those photos and post. Been pretty busy trying to get a hang of my study. Post grad is totally different from undergrad. The workload is pretty heavy. Even though I have only 2 classes per week but the workload can be a one week workload or even more.

Has been very hardworking doing my reading and research these days. I’ve never touch my books like this before -.-” Expectations and requirements are so different. Even go to uni every day to do research and use the Internet but I don’t use it to update my blog. This one is only for when I’m back home. I’ve been getting home late these days(broke my personal record of reaching home at 12am and spent more than 12 hours outside of the house doing study related stuffs), by the time I got myself settled down, it’s time for me to sleep already.

Anyway, I have 5 marketing journals need to do, 1 business report, 2 presentations, and 1 group project. That’s quite a lot for only 2 subjects right?

I remember how I used to be the one who helped my friends with their assignments and projects. I can’t believe now I need people to help me to adapt and teach me research skills here. The skills is different from what I had done back home in previous studies. Good thing, I have friends here who are ready to help me even without me asking. Once I got the hang of it, it shouldn’t be a problem since this is my first time attending a full-time university education, what’s more a level higher than what I had done before.

Long holiday this weekend! Wonder will I be spending it doing research or go out to places of interest?

We’ll see. That’s all for now. Need to sleep.

Port Adelaide

Posted on April 19, 2011April 19, 2011 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on Port Adelaide

I met some new friends when I joined the ballroom dancing introductory class. Instantly we clicked. Last week I didn’t continue with the class because need to start paying and I don’t have that money for it. AUD10 a week for two hours. Too much for me. I’m trying to spend less than $10/week for food until I manage to find ways to make some extra money for my entertainment and more food ;p

Anyway, back to this post. One of my new friends offered to take us to Port Adelaide on Sunday but too bad the other friend couldn’t join us so there were only 2 of us.

We met at Adelaide Railway Station and took the 11am+ train. On the train I lost $2.05, most probably it fell out from my coin purse when I took it out which was unzipped! I managed to pick up some coins that fell out but guess I had missed out some. Sigh… I’ve never lost any money my whole life. $2.05 is a lot to me, at least can cover my one day meal(if cooking at home)!

Anyway, going to share the photos with you… Quick post coz need to wake up early tomorrow for early morning class. Many interesting architecture around. Even the signboards were interesting, just like going back in time.

Walking towards the port…

Left: The trees are changing colour.

Right: The lighthouse of Port Adelaide.

Thought of going on the dolphine cruise but after seeing the price, AUD6 per person, we decided to skip and God was probably kind to us… Just as we decided not to go on it, we saw dolphin! No need to go on the cruise anymore and besides it’s not guaranteed to see one too. I did take video of it, will upload it when I have the chance.

Nice scenery, nice weather.

Confidence or Protest?

Posted on April 17, 2011April 18, 2011 By sweet surrender 7 Comments on Confidence or Protest?

The just concluded Sarawak election was a no brainer result. Everyone knew who would be losing their seats. I would say the opposition had done quite well even though they didn’t win the majority. Some “big” ones from the governing parties were being kicked off their seats which in my opinion is a very heavy impact for certain party. Then again, these are the people whom people wanted the most to go.

However, I would say this time the vote is not vote of confidence but it’s more of the protest vote. I know I have no rights to say much about this election as I didn’t vote this year because I’m not in Kuching else I would be helping out with the campaigning and working in the polling centre on that day. Due to some personal reasons, even my family wasn’t involve.

I got my updates from Twitters and Facebook about the campaigning news. I hate to say this but I really feel that the “outsiders”(don’t care they are here for the government or the oppositions) shouldn’t talk too much or teach us how to govern the state as if they are the locals. We are very different from other states of Malaysia, you don’t talk like as if you are the locals and know Sarawak from the back of your hand. It should be the candidates here whom should be talking but sadly… It’s not the case.

What were the local candidates doing? You are the one that should be working with the people, not those “outsiders”. What worst when they get the facts wrong!

It’s really simple really, it’s just those few key people that had made the whole thing so difficult. If they had stepped down earlier, it won’t be so ugly for them I guess… It’s embarassing for sure, imagine the second top official of the state got voted off!

I would say it’s an interesting one this time because the whole of Malaysia and the world were practically very concern with this election. Suddenly, Sarawak became so popular!

Anyway, it’s over. It’s back to square one really. No matter who wins, life still goes on. It was just a temporary hu-ha to make Sarawak happening *LOL* Just hope the people who made it through will really serve the people but for the case in my area… I didn’t see any from them. Only petty issues. Then again, who cares? The next time around, they will still let the person wins because they are giving their protest votes instead of confidence vote. Confidence vote will never really come for few more terms.
