Sweet Surrender’s Hong Kong Airlines Experience

Posted on September 24, 2016September 30, 2016 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Sweet Surrender’s Hong Kong Airlines Experience

WOW! Record! 14 days from the last post! Man… Crazy weeks! Finally get to settle down for a bit after two intense weeks. Was on leave for one whole week but it was gone with a snap, I didn’t even get the chance to enjoy the holiday and it’s gone.

Going to share my experience flying with Hong Kong Airlines. The inaugaural flight was on 28th May. We now can fly straight to Hong Kong from Kuching. Flight time isn’t comfortable but better than none. Be sure to catch some sleep on board. The flight is about 3 hours and you’re flying a full service, 4-star airline. Imagine how much time you can save without transit?

Back in July, I flew to Hong Kong from Kuching for work. The flight departed at 6.30am on an A320. The leg space was spacious enough. They do provide you with antiseptic towelette when you are on board. On the seat, you can find blanket but since it’s a 4-star airlines, there is no pillow provided. Hence, bringing your own neck pillow is a good idea. Also, do not expect other classes for this sector, it’s a mono-class sector. You won’t have your own entertainment panel also. However, the food was surprisingly better than our 5-star airline!

Reached Hong Kong and then connected to Shanghai. Flew this route with Hong Kong Airlines also.

Was expecting a small plane since but wow… It’s a big one, I think it’s A330. I’ve not been on a big plane since my Europe trip back in 2013 ;p

Instead of sleeping, I watched movie. Meanwhile the food was amazing too! I love the douhua (tofu pudding) the most.

Photo taken on the way to Shanghai.

Aside from using Hong Kong Airlines flying to Shanghai, I also flew back from Nanjing to Hong Kong with it and then Hong Kong to Kuching. Good thing, my colleague and I were “upgraded” because of some special arrangements made by the captain hehe… We got more leg space. However, the food from Nanjing to Hong Kong was a let down. We’re served with pork burger, pathetically thin pork patty sandwiched in between the flattened buns. Didn’t taste good and look pathetic. Our roadside burger tasted and looked better. Forgot to take photo of it, I was too tired due to flight delay that day because of the storm.

Why not flying to Nanjing from Shanghai? There’s high speed train for it, no need to fly at all.

However, because the flight was almost full on the sector going back to Kuching from Hong Kong, I felt quite uncomfortable and air was as if not circulating. A bit of torture on the way back but what to do? It’s economy class, that’s the thing you have to live with. That explains why I like to travel during low season as I don’t like to be squeezed into a small area with so many people.

Overall, it was not bad. The only downside is the pork burger I mentioned.

Anchor Say Cheese Signature Series at Taka Cake House

Posted on September 10, 2016September 10, 2016 By sweet surrender No Comments on Anchor Say Cheese Signature Series at Taka Cake House

Anchor, I’m sure everyone will think of butter. Now, they have European theme Anchor-branded desserts with the tagline “Connecting with Loved Ones”. Apparently they do have a range of desserts last year too which was Japanese inspired.

You can find the dessert all over Malaysia in selected bakeries. In Kuching, you can get it at Taka Cake House. The limited edition desserts are created by Fonterra’s own in-house patisserie chefs with Anchor butter, cream cheese, milk, and cream.

Left: Cheeznie (RM6.30), cream cheese sandwiched between two slices of decadent chocolate brownies and topped with chopped walnuts.
Right: Almond Rosa (RM6.30), a buttery almond butter sponge cake with a rich layer of cream cheese.

Lady Marmalade (RM3.20), a sweet bread with an orange cream cheese filling topped with orange candied peel.

First Love (RM3.20), a sweet bread with a brown sugar cream cheese in the center sprinkled with brown sugar for added crunch.

I like all of them. They are moist, fluffy, and most importantly, less sweet.

All these only available for a limited time only, from now till December 2016. By the way, buy two boxes of Anchor’s signature desserts, you can get a limited edition Anchor spoon.

Where can you get these delicious desserts? Other than Kuching, you can also get them at RT Pastry branches in Klang Valley, Bread History (Penang), The Bakers Hut (Seri Manjung), Born n Breads (Ipoh), Patisfrance and Yeast Pastry (Malacca), Veluxe Cake House (Skudai), Fung Seng (Muar), Port View Euro Bread (Kota Kinabalu), and Hot Cross Bun (Miri).

Enjoy!

Rising Ramen at CityOne

Posted on August 31, 2016 By sweet surrender No Comments on Rising Ramen at CityOne

Rising Ramen use to be at Jalan Song. Now, they moved to CityOne.

Went there few months back but only update about it now hehehe…

If you go there, ramen is a must to have. That’s their signature. Price is higher now of course because of the location. The taste was not quite the same. It used to be very salty butless salty now. The smell wasn’t as strong too. I prefer the one now than previously. Maybe they had adjusted their recipe, otherwise the mall will smell of ramen, pork some more!

Just a quick update. Very busy days ahead. Luckily it’s a holiday today.

Rainforest World Music Festival 2016 (RWMF 2016)

Posted on August 21, 2016August 22, 2016 By sweet surrender No Comments on Rainforest World Music Festival 2016 (RWMF 2016)

Lag lag lag! I’m so lag! Rainforest World Music Festival 2016 happened on 5-7th August at Sarawak Cultural Village. Didn’t take many photos, have some videos, let’s see if I have time to edit for upload *LOL*

This is my second time attending this music festival except this time was as an official rather than as a festival goer. It’s a totally different experience all together. Three hot days! Three days packed with music! Day time was the workshops while night time was the time to PARTY!!!

Left: Attended the press conference as well at Damai Beach Resort.
Right: Various workshops were arranged throughout the cultural village. This is one of them at the longhouse.

Left: Even near the entrance, at the showcase area, there were performances lined up for the festival goers. They welcomed anyone who would like to participate in the performance to experience it for themselves.

Right: All sort of handicrafts can be found around the village.

Left: A section where you can paint your own batik.
Right: Another workshop at the Dewan Lagenda.

Left: This is one of the best workshop! It was on the last day of the festival. Make A Noise! The beat of the drums, performers from various countries jammed together without prior rehearsal. Amazing! Just that hmmm… Most festival goers were quite shy to stand up and dance. I have videos of it, let’s see when I’m going to upload it.

Right: See you next year! 14-16th July 2017! Let’s see I’ll still be around next year for this event 😛

No Manners

Posted on August 18, 2016August 18, 2016 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on No Manners

Before I start to say anything, wow… Just realized it’s been 10 days since the last post. I’m supposed to have a Rainforest World Music Festival post to post but just couldn’t find the time. There’s too many things happened and too many things that need to be settled.

Never in my life meeting such a person with no manners at all. Eavesdropping, self-inviting to events/meetings, threatening people, being busybody, showing no respect to people’s personal space, gaining access illegally, solicits perks for oneself, and so on an so forth. Too many until I can’t name it.

I don’t care what you are doing but once you get into my personal space, jeopardizing my personal data privacy, please be warned that I am not going to tolerate such thing! Once you do this, it means WAR to me!

Anyway, your days are numbered. All I can say is good luck. Whatever you are doing now is simply digging your own grave. Don’t blame others but yourself.
