My 1-Carat Diamond Story

Posted on November 4, 2008November 5, 2008 By sweet surrender 20 Comments on My 1-Carat Diamond Story

Remember the post about I’m E…? The story is so long so do click to read about it.

I’M EXCITED!! Not I’m engaged *LOL* Not even in a relationship how to get engaged?

In fact, some commentors had basically spilt the secret already. Initially I didn’t want to publish those comments but decided to just let it be. However, I really thank all of your for the sincere wish 🙂 *MUAKS*

First of all, I would like to apologize for fooling almost most of you. It’s a very late April’s Fool joke ;p Don’t get angry please. I’m sorry, it didn’t mean to be this way. The surprise wasn’t meant to be this “extreme” until this guy saw I blogged about it this way and took the chance to jump into the bandwagon! If you want to scold, please go to scold him. I’m innocent! ;p

All I want to do is to show off my “ring”. It’s such a great prop for self-potrait, I took lots of nice photos of myself and wanted to share. Here you go! The “ring” is courtesy of Minex Jewellery. Was invited to their event last Saturday, 100% Jewellery Trade-in(will blog about it tomorrow but you can learn about it here). It’s a door gift from them. They are SOOOO generous! Thanks!

Nice or not the photos? 😛 I didn’t do any editting to my face. Just adjusted the curves of the photos a bit. This is how 1-carat diamond can make a girl feel so good about herself! It radiates all the shines and the beauty of a girl hehehe… (I prefer to use girl instead of woman ;p it sounds so old hahaha…)

Frankly, I don’t think any of us, the average people like us will ever get proposed with a 1-carat diamond ring. Very unlikely! Hehehe… Unless you are super duper rich then that’s another story. I bet in the future I won’t be getting a 1-carat diamond in the event someone proposes to me. I don’t think even my late-bf who is a pilot will do so.

Even if it’s real that I’m being proposed, I don’t think I will post it this way. I’ll just post a very straight forward post. Hehehe…

Imagine if I got one from my future husband(an average person like you and me), this will be how I reacted:

“Will you marry me?” *show the 1-carat diamond ring*
*speechless, eyes wide open, mouth wide open, stared in disbelief*
    *collecting my thoughts*
    “I don’t.”
    “Why?”
“I don’t want to wear this and got kidnapped! Or got my finger chopped off! HOW DARE YOU SPEND THIS KIND OF MONEY!!! We’re going to eat grass next time?!?!?”

*LOL* It’s true. I really don’t dare to flaunt it in public. Scary! So a small simple ring will do. *HINT HINT* Of course, 1-carat is nicer but you will have to invest on a smaller one for practicality hehehe… Also make sure you can afford it instead of spending all your fortune in it.

It’s 5-figure! It’s not cheap! You can clear your debt, buy a car, invest in some properties or anything with this kind of money! However, with the program introduces by Minex Jewellery, you can own a 1-carat in 3 years. AMAZING! Still, of course only when you have the money to begin with. If you are determined, you sure can.

GUYS! If you are determined to give your loved one a 1-carat diamond, then you should check out the program and by that time, your loved one will be the proud owner of the 1-carat diamond.

GIRLS! We don’t need the guys to give us the 1-carat diamond, we can also get it ourselves. Right?

In fact, my prop is just a keychain! HAHAHAHA!

Many guests were almost fooled by it too when open their boxes. This is something I heard from few rows behind me:
A: OH MY! This is BIG!
B: Is this real?
A: It seems very real! WOW! Real or not? Minex so good?
B: Eh… It’s a KEYCHAIN!!
A&B: *LOL*

But… But… But… It’s not some useless metal ok? It’s SILVER! The “diamond” is actually zirconia. The “diamond” is the size of 1-carat. The ring is so big 😛 My two fingers can fit into it hahaha…

The moral of the story is that, make sure you buy your diamond from trusted jeweller and insist on certificate of authenticity because there are so many fake ones out there.

As for girls, beware of someone trying to win your heart with fake diamonds. It’s not easy to identify one unless it’s inspected with specialised equipments and techniques.

Quote from Wiki:

Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), sometimes known as zirconia, is a white crystalline oxide of zirconium. Its most naturally occurring form, with a monoclinic crystalline structure, is the rare mineral, baddeleyite. The high temperature cubic crystalline form, called ‘cubic zirconia’, is rarely found in nature as mineral tazheranite (Zr,Ti,Ca)O2 (and a doubtful mineral arkelite), but is synthesized in various colours for use as a gemstone. The cubic crystal structured variety cubic zirconia is the best-known diamond simulant.

p/s: I did post in my Twitter last week that I cut my own hair, this is my new hair hehehe… I cut the front, simply cut cut cut and luckily it turns out good ;p.

Awww…you had me fooled there! You looked amazingly coy in the picture, you know, the one you posted in the “I’m E…!” post, and for a split second I thought something’s not right there.

But it IS a lovely 1-carat, albeit it being a cubic zirconia. Makes a nice keychain.

I, on the other hand, will settle for a 0.5 carat. I got small hands mah! Hahaha. 🙂

Lil’ Ms Pinky, hehehe… My hand is also small, bet it’s smaller than yours. It’s indeed a nice keychain but it’s a bit sayang to use it as keychain since it’s a silver ring hehehe… Might as well melt the silver and make a new pendant or ring with it utilising the zirconia hehehe…

Patrick, if I did unpublish those comments, you would have think it’s real also hahaha…

joyce, not really promoting the “ring”, the “ring” is not for sale, it’s only give to those attended the event. Hehehe…

*LOL* So my suspicions were right… I’m sorry about almost “pua kang tau” for you. In my mind, it wasn’t spoilerish. I had my reserves, and at the beginning, I almost got fooled too. Then I got a bit hurt. Hahah… “Irene didn’t even tell me she was in a relationship? I thought we were friends!” Heheh… silly, I know.

Then I thought more about that phone call, and remembered. 😛 Actually it’s easy to tell cubic zirconia from a real diamond. CZ will reflect tons of colorful rainbowy lights. A real diamond will sparkle white. Of course, it’s always best to buy from reputable jeweler, complete with a certificate of authenticity. This is why I don’t suggest buying from KKDC or places like that – they don’t offer certs.

Girls – going big is not the way to go. Frankly, I would rather have a small but high quality diamond with good stats (the 4C’s) than a huge one with discolorations, imperfections and dullness.

OK I’m rambling too much… stopping now. 😛

  13. sweet surrender says:
    November 4, 2008 at 8:55 pm

Hehehe… It’s not your fault for the “pua kang tau” part, the first commentor had already spilt almost everything already. It’s just a matter the rest of the commentors notice it or not ;p

Of course it’s good to have a small and quality one. If you want to own a big with good quality one it is also possible which you must get it from the reputable jeweller and not just simply any other place. With the new program introduced, owning a big and good quality one is now possible and the only way to start is to own a small and good quality one as a start and upgrade it along the way whenever you like with no depreciation of value hehehe…
