Kek Sarang Semut or Kek Gula Hangus is my favourite traditional cake. Even though it’s made up of a lot of sugar but it doesn’t taste as sweet as other cakes. However, do bear in mind that, it is still sugar even though it doesn’t taste as sweet. I thought it is hard to make and didn’t dare to attempt it. After watching a few videos and studying through the ingredients and methods, it’s not hard at all, it doesn’t even need mixer(I killed my mixer few months back) while the ingredients required are easily available and common.
Here’s the video of my first attempt. I did my second attempt last weekend and I can now safely said that it is indeed foolproof! Just need to be a bit careful when melting the sugar and adding hot water to the melted sugar. I will upload the second attempt video next week *finger crossed*
Here’s the ingredients:
CARAMEL (Do this first so that it has time to cool):
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Hot Water
1/3 Cup (about 76gm) Butter
BATTER:
4 Gred B(medium) Eggs
1/2 Cup Condensed Milk
1 Tsp Vanilla Essence
1 Cup Sifted Multi-purpose Flour

I’ve also uploaded a quick version in BM on my Instagram. Will upload the English version there soon too.
Have fun trying and do share with me if you managed to make it too 😉
