Tomorrow Leaders Summit 2011

Posted on February 24, 2011February 24, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Tomorrow Leaders Summit 2011

I’m so excited! Why? This is because I’m going to meet Andrea Fonseka (Miss Universerse (Malaysia) 2004), Amber Chia (Fashion Model, Mother, Businesswoman), and Lina Teoh (Miss Malaysia World 1999) in person!!!

I admire beauties with brains. It’s not everyday we can meet them in person especially in this part of the country. It’s rare chance. Do you want to meet them too?

This is going to happen during the Tomorrow Leaders Summit 2011 which will be held on 18-20 March, 2011 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching. Even Nobel Laureate, Professor Douglas D. Osheroff will also be there delivering the keynote address during the Tomorrow’s Leaders Summit. Besides him, you can also hear from many others.

Check out Tomorrow Leaders Summit 2011 website to learn more.

Oh by the way… It’s only open for those in the age range of 18-40 years old. Don’t miss the chance!

Views From Across the River

Posted on February 21, 2011February 24, 2011 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Views From Across the River

Phew… Finally got my line back. So tired tinkering with the modem settings and cables.

2 weeks ago, I went to across the river with my sister and my friend for a photo shoot session. The local called it “across the river” also known as Petra Jaya. It’s really across the river ;p

All the time, I’m at the other end. I seldom go to Petra Jaya and I’ll definitely lost my way there hahaha… You can drive there or by a “tambang” boat from Kuching Waterfront. I’ve never go by “tambang” boat, scary hehehe…

The river cruise. Highly recommended by me for those who want to see Kuching from another perspective. You’ll get to see two sides of the river. The buildings at the back are Grand Margherita Hotel, Somerset Gateway, Tun Jugah, Sarawak Plaza and so on.

The contrast… One side of the river has many modern buildings and this side with many houses.

The food court located just next to the river.

The view of Kuching Waterfront, Hilton, Pullman, Riverbank Suite and more. This is just a portion of the view from across the river of Kuching Waterfront.

That’s Kuching for you from across the river from me 😉

CNY is Near…

Posted on January 26, 2011January 27, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on CNY is Near…

WOW! In a week time, CNY will be here. I don’t know… I love the feeling of welcoming CNY in Kuching and at the same time freaking out every time it’s nearing just like how people freaking out about welcoming the new year in the Gregorian calender.

I would definitely start to have the mood to bake even though we don’t get many visitors to our house every year. Most of the time I would stay home, be lazy and all but still I love CNY. Always have this warm fuzzy feeling about it even though we don’t celebrate like what most people are doing. My parents would spend time sleeping away or watching TV instead of getting themselves all stress out visiting houses after houses hahaha… Most of the food we bought we ate it ourselves, the junk food could last for at least a month or so. We don’t go visit relatives or attend family gathering too, no such tradition in our family.

When CNY is near, I have this feel like something new is on the way. On the 1st day of CNY, the air would feel like new also. Every year, I never fail to tag along with my parents to CNY bazaars in town.

Kenyalang, this is the place Kuchingnites will go for CNY preparations. It’s been decades already. This is the place you will feel that CNY is around the corner but only this week it’s getting packed, previous weeks were quite quiet.

Boulevard’s CNY decorations. The goldfishes were recycled from previous CNY. This is now one of the places Kuchingnites go to stock up their CNY goodies. We did ours here too.

The Spring decoration. They have Japanese carp this year “swimming in” the fountain. Compared to Boulevard, there’s less people here maybe because Kenyalang is just around the corner.

How’s your CNY preparations?

SUPP Convention

Posted on January 20, 2011January 21, 2011 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on SUPP Convention

I’m not talking politics here and I won’t entertain any political comments in this post also(I’m likely to delete them) because it’s always the same thing over and over again, you no need say I already what you want to say. You know, I know, we all know. It’s nothing new anyway. This is not a heavy topic too, I’m just sharing my experience.

Attended SUPP Convention at BCCK last Sunday. Let’s just say I was there for the sake of being there or whatever you called it hahaha…

This is the largest event I had ever attended. They said that they targeted 5000 people but 6000 turned up. Really that many or not, I’m not sure. Everyone was wearing the same t-shirt, so many people, what a scene! I was seated up-stair. When lunch break, it’s really hard to move! The lifts were full and many people going down using the staircases and escalators. A sea of people in red and yellow t-shirt. *gulp*

What you see here is just a portion of those attended. Was there at 7.30am.

Most importantly, our PM was there. That’s the only reason I’m interested *LOL* Never see PM in-person, only on TV all these while. I’m so sakai. Anyway, I’m not his fan, he’s just Malaysia PM to me. Both PM and CM were scheduled to reach there at 9.45am but they only turned up at around 10.30am. PM was supposed to go to another event at Sungai Tapang at 10am and that side had to delay the programme to 12 something.

Firstly, it was DCM (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hong Nam) who gave his speech, asking for allocation and talking about how Sarawak had contributed to the country. Also, not to forget, he congratulated and shared the joy of CM (Pehin Sri Dr. Abdul Taib) who recently got a new wife and the wedding reception was on Saturday night at DUN which caused everyone to laugh(either it’s sincere laugh or sinister laugh from the audiences, it’s up to you to think which one was it LOL).

Secondly, it was CM (Pehin Sri Dr. Abdul Taib) who gave his speech. I don’t remember what he talked about, was busy entertaining myself ;p

Lastly, it was PM’s (Dato’ Sri Najib Razak) turn. No specific amount of allocation promised but it sounded something like this(not exact), “I only want winners. George, I only want people who can win. I don’t care who they are. As long that you all do your job and win, I will give what you need.” Obviously many people were disappointed because there’s no promise of monetary allocation to the party. What do you expect?!?! Lost so many seats, almost all, you think he was happy with it? PM is not stupid, he calculates gao gao one. Besides that, not to forgot he did mention few times about our CM new relationship status which again caused everyone to laugh. PM was there at CM’s wedding reception on Saturday too.

Left: From the projector. CM and PM after PM made his speech waiting to officiate the convention and receiving souvenirs from both CM and DCM.

Right: After officiating the convention, it was almost 1pm. He left for the next function. This is the closest I could get from my camera. Many photographers/reporters were up-stair with me and they shouted, “PM, look up! Up here!”. Then, PM looked up, they snapped, snapped, snapped as many as they could. I didn’t manage to get the shot because of my setting hahaha… DCM was behind PM.

Basically, that’s the summary of the convention. What an experience.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
