My Canon IXUS-es

Posted on August 11, 2008August 11, 2008 By sweet surrender 11 Comments on My Canon IXUS-es

Hehehe… In this post, I’ll take about my new camera also πŸ˜‰

Showed you this picture before, my 3 IXUS-es. My whole collection *LOL*

Left: My newest IXUS bought it from Kuching, Canon IXUS 80 IS, the biggest of all! The cheapest of all! Got it at RM999

Middle: Just retired IXUS bought it from KL, Canon IXUS i zoom, I think I’ll ask my bro to assemble it and do some soldering to the wires πŸ˜› That should fix the problem, happened to find out about it last night in a forum hehehe… If it’s fixed, HURRAY! I have two cameras to use πŸ˜› Lasted 2 and half years.

Right: The first generarion IXUS bought it from Singapore and the most expensive one. Lasted 1 year only -.-”

Here’s a combo photos of all the 3 IXUS-es, see the differences of the designs and sizes and of course the colours πŸ˜›

I like to take macro shoots and all these 3 served me very well! The photo qualities are always exceptional!

Let’s start with the first IXUS, got this in December 2003 in Singapore. My dad bought it and then I’m the hogger and ended up became mine *LOL* What to do? I’m the one who used it the most, the rest of my family members didn’t use it much, might as well give it to me hahaha… This one doesn’t have optical zoom, just digital zoom. However, it took fantastic macro photos. This is how I discovered the fun of macro, thanks to this camera.

Next, second IXUS, got it at RM1300+ at Low Yat, KL somewhere in January 2006. Gave me tonnes of problem and sent it in and out of Canon to fix as the problem could only be discovered by luck. The battery contact was faulty! Then I found out the macro seemed not working but in fact there’s no problem with it, you can only use the macro when you use optical zoom else it’s just normal photo, it won’t change to macro mode automatically even after you choose the macro mode. Got pretty nervous when it reached the one year mark but good thing it was OK and lasted another 1 and half year. Phew… Then E18 came…

The latest IXUS, RM999 only with tonnes of freebies but not all useful *LOL* Except the SD cards(1GB and 2 GB), neck strap, tripod, screen protector and casing. This camera is very bulky unlike the previous two. It’s quite pain in the ass to bring it around πŸ˜› However, the photos quality is pretty good and with my shaky hands, the IS is really useful and great for taking photos in low light condition. The macro was quite good coupled with the IS. I haven’t use much of it though as there’s not much events going on and do not have any outings to shoot lots and lots of photos. I haven’t camwhored with it too! πŸ˜›

These are the freebies that I got from buying this new camera at Sarawak ICT Expo 2008. Hopefully this camera can last me for at least another 3 years. *CROSS MY FINGERS* For your record, I had taken almost 600 photos with it hahaha… All the photos in this post were taken with my sis’ Olympus.

You can see some of my selected photos taken with my cameras in irenelaw.com

That’s all for the post today. Enjoy your day! Hehehe…

Sarawak ICT Expo 2008

Posted on August 1, 2008August 2, 2008 By sweet surrender 15 Comments on Sarawak ICT Expo 2008

Went to Sarawak ICT Expo 2008 just few hours ago. Good thing I went today because I could take my sweet sweet time browsed tru’ all the booths that had the things that I needed. If I go tomorrow or Sunday, I don’t think we could even move fast and go back and forth of different booths many many times! πŸ˜› Bargained and bargained, thanks to my sis and Jimmy else I’m hopeless in bargaining. I bought something!!! Tell you later about it hehehe…

They changed the way how you enter the hall which it’s better because it can reduce the congestion. One side in, one side out.

There are more space to move now compare to previously. But at the end of the hall, there is no way to make u-turn, they block it.

No show girls hahaha… πŸ˜› However you can see many colours this year, I mean the uniforms hahaha…

TADA! SEE THIS?!?!

Will blog about it after my exam πŸ˜› You can’t really bargain much for Canon cameras but you can ask them to give more free gifts. Good thing we went today, we could take our sweet sweet time making decision and bargain with them. No installment for cameras below RM1000.

I spent more than RM1K(camera-RM999 and dined out-RM10+) today -.-” I’m RM1K+ poorer now, then tomorrow I have to pay my next semester entrolment fee, which is RM300. After that, on Sunday, I need to go hunt for Cooler Master that costs RM100+ at PC Fair also because I didn’t bring enough cash today and many people told me to wait until Sunday to get cheaper price. *LOL* We’ll see by then, after exam maybe… OMG! Spend almost RM2K in just 3 days -.-“

Upgraded To WordPress 2.6

Posted on July 26, 2008July 27, 2008 By sweet surrender 12 Comments on Upgraded To WordPress 2.6

Finally found a bit of time last night to upgrade my WordPress. I have about 5 more blogs that I haven’t update. Will upgrade again after moving those blogs to another server.

Love the word count feature. Don’t have to worry about how many words more to write when I write money posts hahaha…

I somewaht hate the autosave since the previous version. Sometimes I accidentally write my post in “Page” instead of “Post” and it just autosaved for me. Sigh… I don’t want to delete them because I don’t wan’t to lost count of my number of posts I’ve done throughout the lifetime of my blog. Therefore if I said that I had reached 1000 post, it means it’s really 1000, there’s never any deletion of post. Even if I accidentally created a wrong post or page, I would just make them my draft and replace it with other content next time.

“Post” is easy to replace but “Page” is pain in ass to replace. I always have to think of new page to used up the drafts I have in my WordPress. That explains why I have a Wish List, Affiliates, and Contacts. Hahahaha…

Now I have two more, what should I put for these two?!?! One is reserved for Advertise With Me. Another one? Will figure it out one day hahahah… My top navigation is almost full. By then I will have to move them down to sidebar or hmm… Don’t know yet.

Anyway, just a quick post today. Have to prepare for exam this coming Saturday. GOSH! So many things need to memorise -.-“

Say Goodbye To My Canon Digital IXUS i Zoom

Posted on July 25, 2008April 17, 2010 By sweet surrender 19 Comments on Say Goodbye To My Canon Digital IXUS i Zoom

Called Empress about my camera, Canon Digital Ixus i Zoom, they said that I needed RM200+ to repair because of the lens cable problem. I decided not to get it repaired, I would rather buy a new one. I had set my target already, I’ll get a new camera soon in August when PC fair is here. It will be a lower range one, below RM1K, a DIGITAL IXUS 80 IS. I go for this because I just got 2 new batteries for my currently dying camera, if not then it would be wasted πŸ˜› It’s another Canon because I love the picture quality even though the camera durability isn’t that good especially the IXUS model.

So, I’m going to spend less money on a compact digital camera now, next time if there’s problem with it, it won’t be so painful. Then the rest of the money, I’m saving them for a DSLR, Canon 450D!! πŸ˜› Waiting for the price to drop further, no hurry hehehe… I don’t mind if someone willing to sponsor me or give me as a birthday gift πŸ˜› Hehehe…

It’s time to say goodbye to this camera that cost me about RM1300+, bought it from KL at Low Yat in January 2006. Was supposed to buy this with my own money but my dad said I didn’t have to pay him the money back. In other word, he bought this camera for me. At the beginging of my usage, it posed a lot of problems and I had to send it in and out of Canon to get the problems fixed because I’m jinxed!! Hahaha…

It’s been with me for 2 and a half years. I had taken more than 82,000+ photos and videos(according to my memory card as I’m using the continous file numbering and it started at 100-0001, now is 182-xxxx, almost 83,000) with it. This camera had followed me to KL, Miri, Borneo Highlands, Damai Beach, Camp Permai, various events in Kuching, on MAS, on Air Asia, various eating establishments, lots of weddings, outing with friends and everywhere I went. Have to mention also the test shoots that Canon did when checking this camera when I sent it to Canon several times in the first few months of usage. Almost all of the photos you see in my blog before July 2008 were taken with this camera, I didn’t do much editting except resizing, that’s why I prefer Canon. You can see some selected photos here

My camera is always with me whenever I’m out and about, it’s easy to bring around because it’s small and compact which I love. Consider me a heavy user, I camwhored a lot with it also hahaha… Now… It has come to the end of its life.

Frankly 82,000+ photos and videos in 2 and half years is a bit too little and too short of lifespan don’t you think? If only it could last longer. At least it lasted more than 1 year longer than my previous first generation Canon Ixus that was bought from Singapore. I’m a heavy IXUS user for almost 4 years and still going to be one. The new one will be my third IXUS. Therefore, I’m in a better position to judge the durability of the camera, I admit that sometimes I did drop my camera but it shouldn’t be much of a problem as other brands are more durable judging from how my friends were using them, they were “clumsier” than me but their cameras lasted longer than mine.

I have friends that are using the IXUS also and all of them have to change camera after one year or 2 years plus later. Some of them are not heavy user like me and some of them are equally heavy user like me. No matter how’s the usage, all could only used for less than 3 years. This is something to take note of.

I hope Canon can make more durable compact digital cameras, especially the IXUS because many cameras out there now can withstand drop of at least 3 feet or shock, I don’t see why Canon cannot incorporate this feature in their cameras. If they can incorporate this feature, I can tell you I’m going to ENDORSE CANON! *LOL* As if I’m some sort of celebrity πŸ˜› The sales of the camera will surely be better because it’s really worth the money with the design, picture quality and the durability. Hahaha… Other than that I have no complain.

The E18 error, oh well… Who knows there’s a miracle that it healed on its own just like what the other owners with this problem *LOL*

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
