Benefit The Lana Look Creaseless Cream Shadow-Liner

Posted on March 3, 2008March 4, 2008 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Benefit The Lana Look Creaseless Cream Shadow-Liner

Hehehe… Another review of beauty product. This time I’m going to share my experience with you on Benefit The Lana Look Creaseless Cream Shadow-Liner(the contest was to win Benefit Silky Powder Eyeshadows but I’m given Benefit The Lana Look Creaseless Cream Shadow-Liner, just found out from the Internet hehehe…). Won it last year in the Faces+Advertlets contest.

I picked Lana Look (light neutral shades). I used it many times already, I’m sure you didn’t notice it hehehe… Well… It’s so neutral that’s why but I can see it. In fact I like the colour, very natural. I don’t like bright or dark colours for my eye makeup. I’m always going for natural colour to accentuate the feature instead of showing off colours.

Here’s what I got from Macy*s and it’s just what I’m thinking:

The Lana Look is light neutrals.“Going for a no-makeup look? Light neutrals are your shades!”—Lana-I want makeup that’s hassle free.-My makeup bag contains a few beauty items.-I like that “no-makeup” makeup look.

The boxes are so pretty! According to my sis, this is very expensive in UK. I checked Macy*s site too and it’s USD18 per colour!! WOW! Expensive! I’ve never use such expensive thing. Hehehe… All my makeups are from pharmacies or supermarkets hehehe… I’ve never buy any from the counter.

Usually when you buy makeup, you’ll get boring names like beige, coral red, pink etc. As for Benefit Silky Powder Eyeshadows, you don’t get all these. You get Birthday Suit, RSVP and My Date’s My Brother. Frankly, I still have problem remembering what colour they are from looking at the boxes, I have to open them one by one to find the colour that I want hahaha… At least now I can recognise one, My Date’s My Brother is pink hahaha… Yes, I still keep them in the boxes, the boxes are too cute to throw away.

You can use one shade at a time or two shades at a time or all 3 shades at a time. It’s up to you.

(I had difficulty taking photos of the colours on my eyes, all drowned by the flash. If no flash, then it’s blurred till you can’t see anything)
Left: Birthday Suit, I like this colour a lot! They describe the colour as “brushed chrome”. It’s very easy to blend, smooth and silky. Great colour for the base or highlight or as a colour on its own.

Middle: RSVP, brownish colour. It’s quite hard to blend. It’s not smooth and silky like Birthday Suit.

Right(ignore that strip one my eyelid :p It’s double eyelid tape, I will blog about the new one I bought when I’m free hehehe…): My Date’s My Brother, I like this also. The pink colour is sheer and doesn’t make my eye looked puffy. It’s not easy to blend also.

I found out that the formula can dry up easily if you don’t close the cover tightly. That might be the cause of blending difficulty. I might have exposed them for a bit too long to the fan when I’m taking photos of them!! Oh dear… It can be used just a bit hard to blend and take a bit of time.

Since the colours are very neutral, you have to apply many times to build up the colour intensity which will take quite a bit of time. This is because you have to let the first layer set first before applying another layer. The more intense you want, the longer time you will need. However, it’s worth it as the effect is very nice and with one colour you can turn them into shades that is light to darker shades. As if you are using more than one colours. They don’t crease at all!!

It’s also an eyeliner!! However, I still haven’t master the skills and techniques to achieve the eye liner effect. It needs quite a lot of practice. Also I don’t have the brush for it too. I’ve been applying them using cotton buds and blend with my fingers 😛

Just one thing I don’t like about them, the smells, not sure how to describe them, each colour has different smell. To some people, they might smell sweet but not me, a bit too empowering for me.

Other than that, it’s great eyeshadow to have but on the high end, good thing I got it for free 😛

P/S: The photos are showing almost the actual size of the eyeshadows.

The Natural Source Daintree Green Tea Purifying Body Whip

Posted on March 1, 2008March 1, 2008 By sweet surrender No Comments on The Natural Source Daintree Green Tea Purifying Body Whip

I found out that many people thought that vegetarian anchovies=seaweed twist. In fact it’s NOT, vegetarian anchovies IS NOT seaweed twist. Both are totally different.

Won The Natural Source Daintree Green Tea Purifying Body Whip last year. I’m going to give you a quick review of this body whip.

It comes in a pot or jar. The scent is not strong, just nice. It’s not oily, very light-weight and absorb very quickly into your skin after application. It won’t give you sticky or oily feel at all.

I can feel that my skin is soft and lightly scented after applying it. Best to use after shower. I used it in the evening after shower. I don’t use it during day time because it doesn’t have UV protection. It’s great for moisturing dry spots like your heels and elbows.

I got this from The Natural Source website:

A fresh-smelling, light-weight body whip that will moisturise, soothe and protect your skin. The vitamin rich antioxidant properties of green tea extract keep your skin healthy and energised.

Main active ingredients
Green Tea extract – Detoxifies and helps to rid skin of impurities. It also contains high levels of vitamin-rich antioxidants, which protect the skin from environmental pollutants.

It does live to up what it claims. Overall, it’s a good product to use. There are two sizes, the one I got is the small one, it costs RM69, the bigger one is RM98(Got the prices from ozwin.com.my). The price is quite expensive for me but I’m sure many girls won’t agree with me hahaha… Well… what to do? I’ve never use such expensive stuffs before, RM30 for a body lotion is enough to scare me off, don’t even said RM69 body whip hahaha… I’m given this for free hehehe… So why complain right? 😛

Elianto Supreme Volumizer Mascara

Posted on February 28, 2008September 26, 2009 By sweet surrender 10 Comments on Elianto Supreme Volumizer Mascara

I didn’t use mascara for more than half year already. Decided to get one for CNY, went to Elianto to buy because the things there are quite cheap. Since I’ve never use mascara with two ends(primer and mascara) and it’s only RM25, I bought it to try because usually this kind of mascara will cost at least RM30 and above.

Bought it and only realised few days later that it’s not waterproof!! Oh dear… Sure will smudge! Luckily I bought dark brown instead of black. Here’s description from Elianto’s website:

The new generation of super amplifying volume mascara, its magnified your lash to the maximum, well lifted, curl and exaggeratedly rich, thus create daring & seductive look. The cramy and vitamin enriched lash promer gel build the base for the fuller lash.

Hmm… “promer”?

Oh… All the photos you see here are not editted, just cropped my eyes out. Ignore my swollen eye and the dark circles 😛 Notice my eye colour changes? My hazel colour contact lense torned prematurely…

Finally, I used it for the first time on the 1st day of CNY. I had difficulty taking the photos of the effect.
Left: No mascara.

Middle: Lashes with primer. The primer is not that nice to apply. I don’t like the brush.

Right: Coated with mascara… Few coats but only pumped once which is when took it out. Nothing right? Indeed nothing and I think my lashes were more obvious without mascara hahaha… Pretty diluted. It smudged when I teared -.-” Not that I cried, just my contact was a bit dry and my eye produced tears. I don’t like the brush too! The brush isn’t well manufactured, there’s defect on it! It’s not like what you see in the picture here, there’s a strand that was so out of the way!

Left: Second time apply on the second day of CNY. Still no difference… Very hard to handle it too.

Middle: 4th application on the fourth day of CNY. The curling effect is much better now but the tube of mascara is started to get a bit sticky(not sure how to say, it became quite creamy, not that diluted anymore). It clumped on the brush but when applied it didn’t clump on the lashes.

Right: It got even creamier, more clumps on the brush and wand. This is the 5th application on the 6th day of CNY. The effect is much more obvious. Due to the angle, you can’t see the curl much, it’s actually curlier and more volume than the previous applications.

By the way, I didn’t use curler. I never use one except when makeup artist did my makeup hahaha 😛 I know you can achieve better curl with it but I still prefer fast and quick makeup without much hassle and tools. Also, I only applied few coats with one pump for every application.

Summary?
1. The unexplained changes of texture after each application. I didn’t pump too many times, I only pumped twice, took out and put back for each eye, that’s all. So for each application, only pumped 4 times, 2 times for each eye. Only used it 7 times or pumped 28 times. Other mascaras that I used never had this kind of problem and pumped even more than this.
2. The defect mascara brush that I got(so “lucky”…)
3. It’s not waterproof.

So far Maybelline Unstoppable Mascara is still the best that I’ve used so far. In fact, I only tried 3 type of mascaras hehehe… Maybelline Unstoppable Mascara is the second one, Elianto Supreme Volumizer Mascara is the latest one. As for first one, it’s Maybelline Soft & Curl.

I know there are better ones out there but I haven’t have the chance to try them and budget is a bit of issue, also I’m not a mascara girl 😛 Hehehe… I so dread the replace-every-6-month rule, I know, I know… It’s for my own good but I hate it when I only used it once in a blue moon and had to replace it when it’s still a lot!

The Face Shop – Brightening Rice Water Cleansing Foam (Migamsu)

Posted on February 22, 2008February 22, 2008 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on The Face Shop – Brightening Rice Water Cleansing Foam (Migamsu)

Ran out of facial cleanser last week, decided to go to The Face Shop at The Spring to buy. I’ve never been to The Face Shop even when I’m in KL therefore I’m not sure about the price range of the products. Initially I wanted to buy from Elianto but my friend told me that the facial cleanser there is very drying. That’s why I went to The Face Shop.

I thought The Face Shop has something to do with The Body Shop, when I went in, they greeted me in Korean, I got kinda shock *LOL* Then I found out their products are from Korea and some from Japan. Things are pretty expensive(for me), to many people it’s actually middle range. I’ve never use products of such price range.

After browsing a while, the sales girl came and assisted me, actually I wanted to leave already after seeing the price but too late… She “caught” me 😛 She introduced me two types of facial cleansers, RM39.90 each. I’ve never use such expensive cleanser ok!?!? The most expensive I’ve used also below RM20. I saw RM35.90 ones hehehe… Thought of settle for that but at the end I settled for the RM39.90 one.

I bought Brightening Rice Water Cleansing Foam (Migamsu). My first time buying such expensive cleanser…

Here’s what I got from The Face Shop’s website.

Concept
A moisturizing and brightening cleansing line with rice water and Moringa oil. Moringa oil known as ‘purifying tree’ in India has very strong detoxifying quality. People used to put grinded Moringa plant in the polluted river water to detoxify.

Description
Contains rice water(10%) Fit Protein orchid extract Vitamin B5 complex. Its creamy and cushiony texture eases handling and moisturizing ingredients leave skin feeling hydrated after cleansing by minimizing moisture loss.

In fact, I was torned between choosing this and ORGANATURE CLEANSING FOAM – Hydrating Beans, both same price.

The smell is quite nice. I think it smells quite yummy *LOL* Indeed it’s not drying, after washing my face, I felt that my face is soft and clean, it felt different from all the other cleaners I used before. It indeed brighten up my skin, it also make makeup application easier.

Few days in a month, my face can be really sensitive and very dry. After I washed my face, some ithcy red spots would appear just anywhere on my face, it would go away after half to one hour later. There would also be dry spots especially on my nose and cheek.

It happened that I’m using this during the-sensitive-skin-days of the month, amazingly the red spots reduced, they are not itchy, dry spots aren’t obvious too.

Just one draw back, my face is small, usually I don’t have to use much cleanser, usually I only squeezed less than half inches. For this, I need to use a bit more which is between half to one inch to get the foam enough to cover my entire face and neck. However, it’s not really a big deal.

Phew… At least the RM39.90 is worth every cent.

I’m Now With Brown

Posted on February 9, 2008February 10, 2008 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on I’m Now With Brown

*STOMP FEET*

GRRR!!! Last night when I removed my contact lense, while I was cleaning the left lense, out of sudden it torned! ARG!!! 🙁 I like pure hazel, it looked nicer on me. Why torned? I have no idea at all! I heard some feedbacks from friends about this problem too. It was supposed to last me till March and now… Only one month and 8 days… I had to replace it with the brown ones…

EWW! I don’t like it! The effect is just like the blue ones, so fake! Sigh… Whatever… What I’m angry is that it’s supposed to last for 3 months!
