Biotherm Skin-Ergetic Concentrate Serum

Posted on April 5, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Biotherm Skin-Ergetic Concentrate Serum

Now, another review of skincare product I’m currently using. I’ve been eying for this since its launch in Australia in 2011, priced at AUD85 if not mistaken, not sure of the price in Malaysia. Only now I get the chance to try it out. Sis got it for me from UK because of some sort of promotion. I some how couldn’t find it at Biotherm counter in tHe Spring today. Tried looking for it from Boots, UK as well. There’s no such item. Still selling in Canada’s Biotherm website though. Hmm…

To fight the most visible signs of fatigue, give your skin a new energy source – a powerful boost of moisture and radiance. Biotherm anti-fatigue revolution: Last-minute cosmetic activation to protect its natural quality and high efficacy. Biotherm creates SKIN.ERGETIC, its first signs of fatigue repairing concentrate, to reduce visible signs of fatigue and fight against their appearance, all day long. The demands of a modern life can lead to an unbalanced lifestyle; stress, unbalanced diet, smoking, polltuion, etc. The skin is also under attack from these aggressors, exhausting its moisture and vitality reserves and accumulating impurities on the surface. The skin’s natural defenses become weakened and signs of fatigue begin to set in; drawn features, dullness, more visible pores, less refined skin texture and dryness. To fight visible signs of fatigue, give your skin a new energy source: visibly boost the skin with a energy.

The one box comes with two items, a bottle and a sachet of powder that contains the “fresh ingredients” sealed in a bottle cover. You need to screw on the bottle and tap it to release the magic ingredients. The mixture will only stay fresh and effective for three months. The picture on the right shows how the bottle cover looks like after you release the ingredients into the bottle. You cannot use it immediately after that, need one day for it to activate. Then, have to shake for the first three times you’re using.

I didn’t expect too much from it, just using it because I’ve run out of daily moisturizer and it’s a gift. Not quite willing to spend that much for moisturizer :p Afraid that it doesn’t suit me and will go to waste.

I’m using it day and night as my primary moisturizer. Using it on its own. Absorb easily, non-greasy, very light weight. Enough for me to use it alone without any need of other product. Managed to cut down a lot of time for my daily skincare regime. During the day, I topped it with sunscreen. At night, will just use it on its own. Could feel that my skin condition improved, brighter and more supple. Didn’t break me out. It’s suitable for me but I’m not sure about other people. I’m currently into one month plus of using it. Love it! Already half the bottle.

The ingredients might not be suitable for some people, here’s the list. Decide for yourself.

Water, Glycerin, Olea Europaea Oil, Alcohol, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Sucrose Stearate, Tocopherol, Sclerotium Gum, Caprylyl Glycol, Stearic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Palmitic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Vaccinium Myrtillus Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Caffeine, p-Anisic Acid, Saccharum Officinarum Extract, Vitreoscilla Ferment, Limonene, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Extract., Citrus Medica Limonum Peel Extract, Geraniol, Acer Saccharum Extract, Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Citral, Fragrance, Sodium Benzoate

Only down side, I don’t quite like the smell, rather strong and sourish.

Microsoft Lumia 535 Review

Posted on March 30, 2015April 27, 2015 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Microsoft Lumia 535 Review

After using this phone for more than 3 months, I’m now going to review it. The last time I reviewed one was in 2010 ;p This is my second smartphone. Previously using a RM2K+ (sponsored by a local telco), now downgraded to RM429 (paid from my own pocket). A lot of difference! It’s still a Windows Phone but different brand.

It took me months to finally decide on what phone to buy. I wasn’t willing to pay more than RM500, wanted to get Xiaomi but no more stock, couldn’t wait for it to replenish, I ended up buying Microsoft Lumia 535 in December 2014 when it was just launched. Not really what I wanted, I bought it simply because of the price and it’s a Windows Phone.

The specifications:
Dimensions: 140.2 x 72.4 x 8.8 mm (5.52 x 2.85 x 0.35 in)
Weight: 146 g (5.15 oz)
SIM: Micro-SIM
Display Type: IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
Size: 5.0 inches (~67.9% screen-to-body ratio)a
Resolution: 540 x 960 pixels (~220 ppi pixel density)
Multitouch: Yes
Protection: Corning Gorilla Glass 3
OS: Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1
Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 200
CPU: Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7
GPU: Adreno 302
Card slot: microSD, up to 128 GB
Internal: 8 GB, 1 GB RAM
Primary Camera: 5 MP, 2592 x 1936 pixels, autofocus, LED flash
Features: 1/4” sensor size, geo-tagging
Video: 480p@30fps
Secondary Camera: 5 MP
Battery: Li-Ion 1905 mAh battery (BL-L4A)
Stand-by: Up to 552 h
Talk time: Up to 11 h (2G) / Up to 13 h (3G)

Come in 4 colours but I went for black. Should get orange hahaha…

There isn’t much good things to say about this phone though. Aside from being a Windows Phone which is what I’ve been looking for, not heavy on the processing. Very straight forward and easy to use. I prefer the GUI of Windows Phone. Take great video even in low light; take great photos when the lighting is sufficient. The audio is awesome too.

The cons are a lot more than the pros.

In the camera mode, the sub menu cannot be pulled out. Tried a lot of times, only came out by luck if you swiped on the right spot. I have no idea where’s the spot. This is known problem and it’s not fixed till now. Was told that the fix will come but till now nothing fixed. There’s quite a number of updates already on the OS. Not hardware problem.

The three buttons down there only came out when swiped the bottom of the screen. Why don’t just placed them down there rather than leaving that area empty. Refer to the photo on the right, my old HTC on the right and Lumia on the left. If you get what I meant.

If only it’s smaller, I don’t like this big phone even though this is considered standard size these days.

Internal memory is too small, apps cannot be installed into the microSD, you need to install an app for it first before you can do that but I can’t seem to find which one.

Sometimes the tiles will be deactivated for no reason and the app cannot be opened. Sometimes it will fixed on its own; sometimes just delete the tile and re-pin to start screen; if all failed, it will reinstall required.

The phone would go bonkers with the apps from time to time and the only way to fix it is to reformat the whole thing and start from scratch. Previously, few apps couldn’t be used, tiles were deactivated all at the same time. Now, the current problem I’m facing, the camera app, set as “no flash” yet when I took photo, the flash just came on. Too much work to reformat the phone again. Let it be. Until more problems arise, I’ll reformat again.

The camera is bad in taking photo in low light situation. The front camera too. I never need to edit my selfies with previous phone but this is even with full makeup, you still looked sickly pale. Need a lot of light to get good selfie without looking sick. Even one of the editing apps is hard to find. Sometimes I can find it but most of the time I couldn’t find the app I wanted to use. Don’t remember what’s the app called but you can actually enlarge your eyes, enhance your smile and so on with that app. It’s quite fun actually, till now I have no idea where to pull it out *LOL*

After taking photo, it will not give you chance preview. Will have to click on the preview button to see it. Not user friendly.

The buttons at the side are easily pressed by accident.

The cover isn’t well-fit. Could feel that it’s loose when you’re tapping on the phone. Only way to fix it, I got a casing for it.

Overall, I won’t recommend anyone to get this phone unless you don’t mind all those shortfalls. As for me, I will still stick to it until it’s time to change a new one. I don’t regret buying it, enough for me to use and it’s cheap, so be it. Let’s see how long it will last. My previous phone lasted for 4 years.

Redoxy

Posted on January 6, 2015January 6, 2015 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Redoxy

Came across Redoxy few months back. A friend was using it and let me tried. It’s a direct sale product from Return Legacy. Her whole family is using it and they all are happy with the result. I’ve also seen the difference on my friend’s skin. I decided to get one to try it out since my daily moisturizer and serum is running out. It’s quite expensive for a small bottle (RM250). Then, my supplement was running out too, therefore I bought a box of supplement, Medigold (RM250). However, I just paid RM310 for the two products. Buying one is expensive, so I bought two for the sake of trying.

For now, I’ll talk about Redoxy.

Smells like pineapple and milk. Watery texture and easily absorb leaving no sticky feel but soft smooth skin.

I brought it with me to Perth. The air there is very dry and Redoxy worked wonder! Normally I’ll end up with oily skin in the morning because of the dry condition Down Under. With this, I woke up with no oily skin. I’m amazed!

There is no need for other things. At night, just 3-4 drops (depending on the size of your face) after washing the face after or without toner then applied it on the skin. You’re done! In the morning, just topped it off with sunscreen and you are ready to go!

It didn’t break me out or made me itch.

I also noticed that my skin is more radiant, makeup goes on easily and my pigmentation is much lighter now. Felt that my skin is firmer and pores seemed smaller too.

Aside from that, you can apply it anywhere on your skin. Scars can be lighten. Using on the eye area won’t be a problem as it absorb quickly and leave no oily residue behind. Means you can use it on the whole face, no need to invest in any eye cream/gel anymore. I figured that it can be useful for stretch mark too.

I should be showing you before and after photos but I couldn’t find any as I haven’t been camwhoring with a camera for a long time but with phone and the latter always cannot show much imperfection.

The ingredients are Milk Peptide, Hyaluronic acid, Allantoin, Salmon Peptide, Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), Collagen, Growth Factors, Vitamin C, Kojic Acid, Vitamin E, Hydroxylated Lecithin, Potassium Citrate, Potassium Carbonate, Magnesium Sulfate, and Silicon Oxide.

The down sides are small bottle, only 20ml (using it once a day in the morning, about 3-4 drops each time, lasted me almost 3 months); and it’s rather pricey. However, at least it’s so much cheaper than a lot of high end products sold at departmental store.

Quite a good product. I didn’t expect much from it but it surpassed my expectations. Quite happy with this and I don’t bother looking at other skincare products anymore.

Oh ya… It is safe for children too.

Who should take Redoxy?
• Age 25 and above (checked)
• Coffee drinker (Not applicable)
• Under pressure (checked)
• Always stay up late (checked)
• Alcoholic beverage drinker (Not been drinking for months)
• Frequent traveller (Not so)
• Smoking (Not applicable)
• Working on shift (Not applicable)
• Long hours in air-conditioned environment (checked)
• Constantly exposes to UV ray (Not so)

These are what it claims to be:
Anti-aging: Reduces wrinkles & fine lines, protect skin from the sun.
Anti-oxidation: Quench free radicals.
Hydrating: Locks in skin cells moisture for long hours, shrink skin pores
Boosting: Enhance production of collagen.
Repairing: Helps scars and marks to heal.
Rejuvenating: Make skin firmer, smoother and younger.
Brightening: Lighten pigmentation, improve skin’s tone and texture.
Firming: Improve skin elasticity.
Penetrating: Micro-clustered technology allows nutrients to penetrate deeply and nourish the cell.

Where to get it? You will have to find whoever selling this product since it’s direct sale product. The company name is Return Legacy (you can just Google it, easily found and can read lots of reviews from others too). Of course, I can help you get it since I’m also getting it from my friend.

By the way, gonna be away for a short trip. Will be updating on Instagram/Twitter. 😉

Holika Holika – Naked Face Foundation Powder SPF26 PA+

Posted on November 10, 2014November 12, 2014 By sweet surrender No Comments on Holika Holika – Naked Face Foundation Powder SPF26 PA+

Finally I finished up my foundation and I decided to try some Korean product. Ended up buying from Holika Holika. It was less than RM100, don’t remember the actual price, it was on offer, it was around RM80+. Was told that it provides all-in-one function. Because I’m just too lazy, especially in the morning, so I only want one base that can act as everything from foundation to powder to sunscreen.

The coverage is quite sheer, can’t cover much blemishes. So if you have lots of scar to cover, this alone won’t be enough.

The powder is very loose and light. The colour suits my skin just nice. Only one colour to choose, one colour for all skin colour because it is very sheer.

For those who wants to gonatural, I will recommend this.

The downside is that the holes dispense not much powder, therefore you have to keep dispensing and add more on your face until you achieve the coverage you want or to cover the whole face. It can take quite a fair bit of time.

Other than that, so far so good for me, doesn’t break me out. Quite like the puff too.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

Posted on October 30, 2014October 25, 2014 By sweet surrender No Comments on NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil, something I bought during the opening of Sephora. No idea what to get and ended up getting this.

Was thinking on which colour to get and I ended up getting gold. Lately, I love gold colour so much my everyday eye colour, blame it on Kate *LOL*. I don’t remember the price, it’s quite affordable. If not mistaken, it’s below RM20.

You can use it as eyeshadow, as base for eyeshadow, or liner. It depends on my mood. Most of the time I used it as eyeshadow or eyeliner. Smooth application, glides effortlessly, and colour is rich.

Don’t expect too much. It doesn’t last; it smudges; and easily rub off. I knew it when I bought it as I tested it. Hence, I bought gold colour because it’s not obvious if it smudges. However, I do love the colour. I was torn between white and pink. Come to think of it, I should go for white so that I can use it as the base for those eye shadows I have that aren’t pigmented enough.

Also, one more thing, the plastic cover is just too fragile.

I won’t recommend this product. I bought it for the sake of using up the cash voucher.
