33rd Sarawak Mandarin Singing Competition

Posted on June 4, 2007November 21, 2008 By sweet surrender 18 Comments on 33rd Sarawak Mandarin Singing Competition

Went to 33rd Sarawak Mandarin Singing Competition last night at Kenyalang Theatre. The entrance fee cost me RM10 and in return I got to have naps on and off *LOL* Boring… At least for me, was quite awaked when the first 4 contestants sang, then after that I took many naps. Really not my type summore almost half of the contestants sang the same song!! This competition was jointly organised by Sarawak Singing Council and Kota Samarahan Music Friendship Society. It started on Friday night and the final was last night. Previous 2 nights tickets were RM5 each.

The tickets and the stage.

Left: The announcers
Right: A female singer sang to test the sound system before starting the contest.

The female contestants.

Left: Performance by a little girl before the break.
Right: After quite a long break, finally it’s the male contestants turn to go up. However, before that a male singer sang for sound test.

The male contestants.

Before announcing the result, they had closing ceremony speeches and took down the flag from the pole.

Left: Handed the flag over to next year’s organiser. I don’t know who. πŸ˜› Told you I’ve been napping on and off.
Right: The contest summary by one of the judges.

Left: Giving grand prize to the best association. Miri won it.
Right: Waiting for the second and first place winners to be announced.

Group photo. Want to know who got them? You can see it here. They are standing next to the organisers.

Superstar Roadshow

Posted on May 26, 2007May 27, 2007 By sweet surrender 10 Comments on Superstar Roadshow

Apparently my blog post offended and hurt my friend. Ah well… I can only say that we have different ways of seeing things. Sorry that I couldn’t meet you today or any day sooner to sort it out because of my eye. The “volcano” is so huge and it can “erupt” anytime and it’s really not a pleasant view. I’m not taking the risk to show up in public this way.

If you happened to call me yesterday and I didn’t answer your call or did answer but too noisy, that’s because I was there. πŸ˜› I’m not crazy about this thing, it’s because I need to buy something at Wisma Saberkas that’s why I went and took the opportunity to cover this event for the sake of blogging. I will blog about what I bought yesterday soon… After I sorted out other stuffs.

By the way, if you would like to see more photos of it, you can visit this, this and this because I missed out some photos while editing.

The girl is the MC. She’s from FM988(or 988FM?)
The 5 guys are the finalists of Superstar. From left to right, Jo, Wee, Henley, Nick, and Kyan.
Henley is the overall Superstar champion.

These are the 5 girls that are also the finalists. From left-right, Diana, Orange, Yuni, Rynn, and Miko.
Diana is from Kuching, she was one of the final 4 but too didn’t win. I heard that her house is very big, she’s from a rich family. Kuching is so small, I think many of you would know her or her father. I don’t πŸ˜› I didn’t find out who is her father but heard that it’s quite an influential businessman.

Left: Diana with the flowers that were given by the fan. I was there early and I saw a florist sent the flowers all the way there on behalf of the fan that couldn’t made it there yesterday. WOW!
Right: One of the lucky fans that get to tell their favourite Superstar how much he loves him hahaha… He’s given some merchandise as his prize.

Left: Another lucky fan.
Right: The 3 lucky winners that had submitted the lucky draw form that was cut out from Sin Chiew Daily before the event. They could choose to hug a male Superstar or take photo with a female Superstar. This is so odd! How come the like this? Be it male or female, they should let them choose either they want to take photo or hug instead of making the rule that you could only hug a male Superstar and could only take photo with a female Superstar. Very odd rules.

After that, the autograph session started.

That’s the end of my report hahaha…

Miss Sarawak Model Of The World 2007 Preview Show

Posted on May 20, 2007May 20, 2007 By sweet surrender 18 Comments on Miss Sarawak Model Of The World 2007 Preview Show

It stated that it’s 2pm in the newspapers but when we reached Crown Square, 2nd floor… it stated 3pm!!! So loitered around until 2.30pm. Found a place to sit then waited. It started few minutes before 3pm and ended about less than 10 minutes after 3pm! So fast!

Finally… The contestants were out! OMG! I’m speechless… *shake head* Why? See it for yourself! The catwalk was all a mess, no discipline at all and not properly choreographed at all! It gave me a feeling that they were trying to make each other “ugly” and seemed like there were some boycotting among themselves too. I don’t know how true is that but that’s what I feel when I saw them. Those contestants were not professional enough, too amatuer. How to represent Sarawak like this? I faint…

First group, I was shocked to see their height. -.-” Aren’t they supposed to be tall but these are just average height that you can get from any girl on the street. I know I’m still shorter than them but… Don’t know how to say… Goodness gracious… Don’t be so desperate to try to act cute OK?!? Very vain.

Second group, much taller. Not much comment on this group but gave me the feeling that they were not in very good term with each other.

Third group, a mixture of heights. Kinda stiff and trying too hard to impress the audience. Also very common look that you can get from any girl on the street.

Everyone of them. See the way they are standing? The tallest girl tried to squeeze into her space but no one wanted to move a bit to give space yet there was this huge gap at the right side. However, finally she managed to squeeze in.

I’m sure you are wondering why they kept showing their claws? *LOL* They are showing off their nail art! Macphee Nail & Hair Studio is the sponsor for one of the their subsidiary titles, Miss Beautiful Finger(sounded something like this, didn’t really listen to what the announcer said, I was busy taking photos). Cheh… Only nails, I thought there would be hair show too.

The 5 finalists for the subsidiary title and the result will be announced on the big night itself which the entrance is not free, you have to buy tickets to watch the show at Riverside Crowne Plaza.

Luckily I didn’t went up and take their photos last night. They sure would stop me from taking it because after the show, there’s a girl trying to take pictures of the contestants’ nails in the salon, she was stopped by the organizer telling her something about contracts, rules etc. I wanted to take too but I didn’t, I quickly left after I heard what she told the girl. The girl left and obviously she’s quite upset with it. If I’m her, I will be pretty upset too.

There you go… Nice or not?

Sarbex 2007

Posted on May 5, 2007May 4, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Sarbex 2007

Went to Sarbex at Permata Carpark today. If you would like to buy houses or invest in properties, you should go and have a look. It’s much more welcoming than BTS. They have lucky draws too and you can have a chance to win a plasma TV! I remember last time they gave flight tickets. Well… Electrical appliances are more useful. πŸ˜› This year, they have it for 4 days, starting form 4th-7th May instead of the usual 3 days all these while.

You can get freebies such as newspapers, Yellowpages and another book about interior design I think. Not so sure, I left it in my friend’s car. I forgot to take it back with me hahaha….

Left: Win these prizes!
Right: Some of the booth.

Left: I’m always amaze by these house models. They are so cute with all the miniature furnitures in there, it’s not easy to build these, it requires the person to be very meticulous. If me, hahaha… I think I’m going to ruin the whole model once I lay my hand on it. It reminds me of The Sims heheh.. That’s why I like The Sims where I can place all those furnitures and renovate the houses πŸ˜› Once done, I usually will not complete playing the characters, the house is more important hahaha…

Right: More booths.

These two models are quite nice. Have lightings summore. So cool.

Ok… That’s all about SARBEX.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
