Etude Drawing Eye Brow

Posted on October 14, 2015 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Etude Drawing Eye Brow

Totally forgot to blog about Etude Drawing Eye Brow. Got this almost a year ago. Using it everyday, took me about 10 months to finish using it. Now, I’m waiting for new one to come. In fact you should be able to get it from any Etude shop but I bought mine from Ebay. After conversion, it’s less than RM15, I’m sure it’s quite highly priced here.

It has two ends, one the liner, another the brush. I seldom use the brush though. Easy and simple to use. I got dark gray because black is just too black. However, gray black is still a bit too dark, so I have to use very light stroke when I draw my brow for more natural look. This time around, I ordered gray brown.

The head is slanted, it’s great for the brow. No sharpener needed, just twist it to reveal more product. Sweat and smudge proof. However, not recommended to go for swim, it’s gone after my swim.

Since I’m on my second purchase now, so yes… I do recommend it.

Benefit High Beam Face Highlighter

Posted on August 31, 2015August 31, 2015 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Benefit High Beam Face Highlighter

It’s 31st August… How time flies! We are heading into September tomorrow! Today is Malaysia’s Independence Day. Enjoy the public holiday everyone! I’m not going to talk anything of this nature in this post. Just going to review this wonderful product I got, Benefit High Beam Face Highlighter.

I’m not sure how much it costs in Malaysia. My sister got this from UK, it’s priced at £19.50. Expensive! Fear not! This small bottle lasts forever as long that you tighten the cap after every use. You only need very little to achieve that glowing skin effect.

high beam creates that natural radiant glow you’ve always desired. It’s a a satiny pink highlighter that creates a young, radiant, fresh complexion on all skin tones. No self respecting make-up artist would be seen without it.

At first, I was quite hesitate to use it because was worry that the glow and the glitter might not be appropriate for normal daily use. After trying it out for the first time, I love the effect I saw in the mirror! WOW! Ever since then, it’s my must-have in my everyday makeup routine.

Normally I’ll just end my makeup with blusher. Now, before going for the blusher, I’ll dot and blend on my cheek bone, brow bone, and nose bridge. So lightweight and easy to blend. Great for any skin tone. Gave a very nice healthy and natural glow, love it when the light hits the areas. Amazing effect too can be seen from the photos. The face no longer looked so flat. Managed to cover up the pigmentation on my cheeks because of the glow.

Sometimes, if I’m going “natural”, no blusher, I’ll just apply this alone. Instant glow! You can also apply this after applying blusher if you want stronger effect. I prefer using it under so that will look more natural.

One application can last me one whole day. Doesn’t fade.

Left: With Benefit High Beam, very little makeup, no blusher. See the cheek bone and the nose bridge? The glow, not flat. Even my colleague was surprised with the glow I have, she thought my skin condition improved not knowing that it’s the effect of the product hehehe… *shhhh*

Right: Without Benefit High Beam, with makeup I normally wear to work taken before I was given with this product.

Great product! I highly recommended it. Price is a bit high but you are getting a great product that can last a very long time, only a little needed. 3 small dots on one side of the cheek bone only. Wonder how long will it take for me to finish the bottle.

NYX Doll Eye Mascara Waterproof Hydrofuge Extreme Jet Black

Posted on May 24, 2015May 26, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on NYX Doll Eye Mascara Waterproof Hydrofuge Extreme Jet Black

The mascara I’m currently using, only used it twice. One time for work, another for swim.

You can now get NYX brand from Sephora, tHe Spring, Kuching. Previously I reviewed its Jumbo Eye Pencil.

I decided to get NYX Doll Eye Mascara Waterproof Hydrofuge Extreme Jet Black because it’s cheap, less than RM20. Waterproof and smudge proof for normal wear because of the nylon fibers in there. However, it flakes a bit at the end of the day.

Not suitable for swim even it is waterproof. I was wearing my goggle, not as much contact with pool water yet it flakes and it got into my eyes, worst if you have contact lens on (I know, I know… You shouldn’t be wearing contact lens when swimming). Hence, this mascara is not suitable for swim.

No clumps and it sure lengthened and curled but not much. Didn’t add volume too.

Very easy to apply. The formula isn’t too watery or thick. The consistency is just nice.

As for ease of removal, not that easy to remove. It won’t give you panda eyes but rather messy with those flakes which might end up in your eyes. Definitely not contact lens friendly. Anyway, you should remove your contact lens before removing your makeup.

Will I repurchase? No due to the flaking issue. However, it’s is very affordable for everyday usage.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light Pot

Posted on April 12, 2015April 13, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light Pot

I’ve been hearing a lot of good feedback about Vichy but only knew about it too late. This brand is no longer available in Malaysia since March 2012 for reasons that we have no idea of. So I asked my sister to get it from UK.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light Pot, 50ml (£16.00). Not that cheap really.

It claims that…

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light gives, for the first time, Vichy Thermal Spa Water and a micro-encapsulated delivery system of Active Hyaluronine improve the diffusion of moisture into the surface of the epidermis.

The skin feels replenished with water, as if continuously hydrated by misting micro-sprays.The skin is intensely hydrated feeling soothed. It feels supple, refreshed and velvety soft, free of sensation of tightness all day long. The skin is more resilient, with increased suppleness and radiance. It’s effectiveness is proven on 100 women under dermatological control.

The light cream is refreshing and melts into the skin. Non-greasy and non-stick with no sensation of thickness. The Aqualia Thermal range helps fortify and soothe the skin giving it 24 hour hydrating care for use on dehydrated and sensitive skin. Intensely hydrated, the skin feels soother, refreshed and free from sensations of tightness.

Just like using sleeping mask except it doesn’t leave a layer on the face. I only apply this at night either on its own or after toner as I don’t have such luxury of time to apply it in the morning because it doesn’t absorb immediately. Once it melted into the skin, you can feel the softness and suppleness. Great to replenish the moisture loss being in the air-conditioning office during the day and at night. True to its claim. I also wake up with hydrated skin, no oiliness.

As for the smell, it’s not overpowering instead the smell is quite soothing and light.

There’s another version of this, Vichy Aqualia Rich Pot, I think would be too rich for me.

Conclusion, definitely a good product just too bad why it’s no longer being sold in Malaysia, there’s many users here in this part of the world. Why?

Also got another product from Vichy and will review it soon.

Biotherm Skin-Ergetic Concentrate Serum

Posted on April 5, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Biotherm Skin-Ergetic Concentrate Serum

Now, another review of skincare product I’m currently using. I’ve been eying for this since its launch in Australia in 2011, priced at AUD85 if not mistaken, not sure of the price in Malaysia. Only now I get the chance to try it out. Sis got it for me from UK because of some sort of promotion. I some how couldn’t find it at Biotherm counter in tHe Spring today. Tried looking for it from Boots, UK as well. There’s no such item. Still selling in Canada’s Biotherm website though. Hmm…

To fight the most visible signs of fatigue, give your skin a new energy source – a powerful boost of moisture and radiance. Biotherm anti-fatigue revolution: Last-minute cosmetic activation to protect its natural quality and high efficacy. Biotherm creates SKIN.ERGETIC, its first signs of fatigue repairing concentrate, to reduce visible signs of fatigue and fight against their appearance, all day long. The demands of a modern life can lead to an unbalanced lifestyle; stress, unbalanced diet, smoking, polltuion, etc. The skin is also under attack from these aggressors, exhausting its moisture and vitality reserves and accumulating impurities on the surface. The skin’s natural defenses become weakened and signs of fatigue begin to set in; drawn features, dullness, more visible pores, less refined skin texture and dryness. To fight visible signs of fatigue, give your skin a new energy source: visibly boost the skin with a energy.

The one box comes with two items, a bottle and a sachet of powder that contains the “fresh ingredients” sealed in a bottle cover. You need to screw on the bottle and tap it to release the magic ingredients. The mixture will only stay fresh and effective for three months. The picture on the right shows how the bottle cover looks like after you release the ingredients into the bottle. You cannot use it immediately after that, need one day for it to activate. Then, have to shake for the first three times you’re using.

I didn’t expect too much from it, just using it because I’ve run out of daily moisturizer and it’s a gift. Not quite willing to spend that much for moisturizer :p Afraid that it doesn’t suit me and will go to waste.

I’m using it day and night as my primary moisturizer. Using it on its own. Absorb easily, non-greasy, very light weight. Enough for me to use it alone without any need of other product. Managed to cut down a lot of time for my daily skincare regime. During the day, I topped it with sunscreen. At night, will just use it on its own. Could feel that my skin condition improved, brighter and more supple. Didn’t break me out. It’s suitable for me but I’m not sure about other people. I’m currently into one month plus of using it. Love it! Already half the bottle.

The ingredients might not be suitable for some people, here’s the list. Decide for yourself.

Water, Glycerin, Olea Europaea Oil, Alcohol, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Sucrose Stearate, Tocopherol, Sclerotium Gum, Caprylyl Glycol, Stearic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Palmitic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Vaccinium Myrtillus Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Caffeine, p-Anisic Acid, Saccharum Officinarum Extract, Vitreoscilla Ferment, Limonene, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Extract., Citrus Medica Limonum Peel Extract, Geraniol, Acer Saccharum Extract, Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Citral, Fragrance, Sodium Benzoate

Only down side, I don’t quite like the smell, rather strong and sourish.
