Kuchingites Or Kuchingnites?

Posted on April 19, 2007April 19, 2007 By sweet surrender 13 Comments on Kuchingites Or Kuchingnites?

Secret Recipe will only open tomorrow,20th April.

People! Tell me which one is correct? “Kuchingites” or “Kuchingnites”? I’ve been seeing these two versions everywhere. HELP! I’m getting confused now! I used to use “Kuchingites”, then lately I saw many people using “Kuchingnites”, so… I’m super duper confuse now! Which is the correct one? If there is no definite answer, I guess we will have to end up calling ourselves “Kuching Kia” Hahaha… This one will be 100% correct! ๐Ÿ˜› Ok… Seriously… Which one?

This leads me to introduce you to my recent project that I’ve been doing with Jimmy lately and decided that now it’s the time to fully release it to everyone.

Why we started it?
This blog is dedicated solely for money making and Kuching. You can only make money when you have proper content for your blog. If you only want to make money and you don’t have the content, it can’t work. This is because there are rules that you need to obey to make money. Nothing is free.

Since catscity.net has a higher PR compare to this blog, it can make more money. Summore nothing was done to this URL for a while already, it used to be a very high traffic Chinese forum, that’s why it has such high PR. So we decided to put everything about Kuching that we had blogged before into it to make it into an information blog with ratings from us. The write-ups are not the same as the one you see in my blog. This means I have to come out with two versions of write-ups. One for my blog and another one for catscity.net. If I just copy paste my content over, PPP would not approve catscity.net. Therefore, if you go to catscity.net, you will be seeing a non-sponsored post followed by a sponsored post.

It’s not an easy work. We have to find content to put in between the sponsored posts, else PPP won’t approve us at all. I have to update two blogs about the same thing but with different content. So it’s not all about making money, it makes us work extra hard to find things related to Kuching to blog. For the record, I had blogged 10 posts(2 blogs both with their own contents and own sponsored posts) a day within 3 hours, such madness! The post in between the sponsored posts must be of certain standard too. You cannot just dump a video or photo in. You must have at least 5 sentences in your non-sponsored post and of certain length.

Such crazy job but love it ๐Ÿ˜› The craziest part is to grab PPP opps for catscity.net and my own blog. Summore PPP opps are not easy to grab nowadays. They’re gone too fast! They can gone in seconds! Goshhh… That’s why sometimes you can see continous sponsored posts and then later on I will insert the non-sponsored posts in between them.

Ok… Enough of the introduction. Hahaha… Hop over to catscity.net and you will know what I’m trying to tell you. We make sure we update it everyday with quality content of course. Then I can write at least one sponsored post a day. If we are lucky, I can write three sponsored posts a day and this will mean I need to compose another 2 to 3 non-sponsored posts a day. Crazy right? It’s legal way to make money anyway ๐Ÿ˜›

Let me get this straight, the domain name belongs to Jimmy, the photos belong to Jimmy, the write-ups belongs to me except the newspapers articles. We split the earning 50-50. Fair enough. OH! Is it Kuchingites Or Kuchingnites?

Something Good

Posted on April 10, 2007April 16, 2007 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Something Good

YES! I’m back to blog about it. First of all, I’m sure you notice that I’ve been blogging a lot these few days and after each post, there would be a commercial break. Sorry hahaah… ๐Ÿ˜› I couldn’t resist the temptation of USD after being deprived of earning some USDs the other week. At least I do give you something rather than all paid posts right? It’s not that bad right? (-.-“) Feel a bit guilty hehehe… OK! Enough of that! Here’s something I want to share with you and be my witness(es) ๐Ÿ˜› Because I’m afraid that I might change my mind later as you know how money crazy I am. *LOL*

First of all, this is NOT A PAID POST! Advertlets had credited RM50 to my account after writing a review for them. Finally! Here’s the proof!

Since I can’t take the money out yet until it reaches RM200 so I decided to donate the RM50. You got it right! DONATE IT! I hope I will not change my mind halfway typing this. ๐Ÿ˜›

I’m donating it to Yvonne Foong. Some of you might know her, some might not. I knew about her case since the last 2 years but I didn’t do anything to help. Now the chance is here! Josh, how to do it? Give my RM50 to her.

Who is she? Some of you might be wondering. Yvonne was only 16 years old when doctors diagnosed her with a rare genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis Type 2. Again… You must be wondering what is Neurofibromatosis Type 2, right? Click here to learn more. Due to this, she needs a lot of money for her treatment. If you want to know more about her, then click to read about her story. You cal also contact her at yvonnefmn(at)gmail(dot)com

As you can see from the above picture, these are the things available for sale in her website to raise fund for her medical treatment. The book, Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm Not Sick, Just A Bit Unwell, is written by her. If you would like to help, you can buy them or you can just donate money to her. At first I planned to buy something from her but I don’t really need those things. I don’t buy just for the sake of buying, I don’t see there is any meaning in there.

Yvonne is a member of the Adverlets network, and also part of the Advertlets Philantrophy program which allows members within the network to sponsor their earnings to other deserving individuals. Through Adverlets, Yvonne Foong will be able to raise much needed funds for her medical expenses. So I was thinking, why don’t I give my first Adverlets earning to her? That would be better. I’m sure I can cover that RM50 with Advertlets soon.

I’m impress with the way she handles life, I don’t think I have this kind of strenght at all, I’m sure most of us don’t. Anyway, GANBATTE YVONNE!

DinoTrek

Posted on April 8, 2007April 7, 2007 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on DinoTrek

After PIKOM, my dad suggested that we go visit DinoTrek at Tun Abdul Razak Hall, just opposite Sarawak Musuem.

GAH! We thought we could enter for free. Who knows? When we reached there, we saw the “Tickets Sold Out” notice everywhere outside the hall. Need to buy tickets one!!! Many parents were caught with surprise too. I don’t think I came across anything mention about the need to buy tickets in the media! Summore it’s by Petronas. We should be given free entrance for it! Not charging us!

Though the tickets are not that expensive for us(adult-RM5, children[3-17]-RM3) but I don’t think I want to pay that kind of money to go in to see some robots moving their hands and legs and some recorded audio to create the sound. So lame. I don’t think it’s worth to go in at all. You just see my photo, I don’t think you will think it’s worth it at all. Only some cardboard walls surrounded the “dinasours”.

Many children wanted to go in but tickets were sold out. Most parents brought their children there becuase they thought it’s free entrance. Any sane parents will not want pay for that kind of money to go in to see some lame robots! What to do? Children… Once they want something, they will make sure that they have it or else they will scream or cry on top of their lungs. As for the parents, they would be force to buy the tickets even though they didn’t wan to. Even though the tickets were sold out, they still need to find other time to go. They are very unwilling but they still have to squeeze their balls to buy the tickets because there is no way for them to disappoint their children.

Imagine this… You had been telling your children to do well or behave and you will bring them to see dinasours. All these while you thought that it’s free. Then when you reached there and found out that you have to buy tickets to go in knowing deep down that those are just some lame robots and lame audios to “cheat” the kids. Your children has been waiting for the moment, seeing their adorable faces, how can you have the heart to disappoint them? So, you can only tell them the tickets are sold out, you will have to find other day to go and you have to keep the promise. How can you disappoint your little angels right? So to compensate your angels for not being able show them the promised dinasours, you have to buy some DinoTrek merchandise on sale so that they will not be sad.

OK.. Tell me people! Do you know that they are charging for the entrance? As far as I know, I heard nothing or see or read anything about the need to pay to go in. Anyone? That’s why people always said that children’s money is always the best to earn. See how true is this?

PIKOM 2007

Posted on April 6, 2007April 6, 2007 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on PIKOM 2007

I always thought that PIKOM is a one year one time thing. I don’t know since when they have it more than once a year. Anyway, I’m not interesting in going to this sort of computer fairs anymore especially the one in Kuching well… If KL’s or Singapore then that’s different story. Besides that, I’m no longer interested in these stuffs after a series bad luck with electronic gadgets that I had bought. So now if you ask me what is the latest graphic cards, latest speed, latest processor etc. *Stare-At-You+Blankly* I have no idea *SHRUG*.

The fair is more like a warehouse sales rather than exhibiting the latest technologies. Last time I would make sure I visit every PC fairs in Kuching that I know but now I’m not eager to go any unless I need to buy something. It’s always the same old companies everywhere. The market is already monopolised and spoilt by them. So? What to expect?

There were so many people today because it’s public holiday for Sarawak today. Today is Good Friday. If it’s not public holiday, there won’t be so many people in the afternoon. It was sardine packed. Not easy to walk and see things properly. Very hot and noisy too. The exhibitors were practically blasting all sort of musics off from speakers, sub-woofers, computer etc. Very irritating!

I wasn’t enjoying myself at all, it’s making me very bad temper. I hate crowds! It’s actually a last minute decision to go there after having lunch with my family somewhere nearby and my bro wanted to buy something that’s why we went there.

You know how bad temper I was that time? The poor promoter got “bombed” by me while I’m waiting for my bro and dad with my mom at one corner. The promoter was trying to introduce Streamyx package that comes with a HP computer for RM99 per month, she talked to my mom, I ignored her. I just told my mom we already have Streamyx at home, there is no point for her to promote it to us. Then my mom told her that. Next she asked what kind of package that we are subscribing. I glanced at her, she was smiling that time, and I blurted out in a rahter harsh manner, “Who cares anyway? Any pacakge is the same!”. (-.-“) I felt so bad after that but what else I can do? Go up and say sorry? I’m sure she had came across many people like this already, I’m just one of them. It’s just parts and puzzles of their work nature so be it.

I still can’t believe that I actually responded that way. I had never do this to promoters. Usually I would just tell them in a very polite way or just walked away. Blame the crowd, the heat and the stupid musics!

That’s my report for PIKOM. By the way, PIKOM is here for 3 days, 6th-8th April at 5th Floor, Permata Carpark.

Qing Ming 2007

Posted on April 1, 2007April 2, 2007 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Qing Ming 2007

It’s April’s Fool today. I don’t play tricks on people for a long long long long time already. Also no one fools me for don’t know how many years already. However, was fooled by Lilian!! Eh.. But doesn’t count ok? Hahaha… Coz it’s not on 1st April, it’s yesterday.

The actual day of Qing Ming(in Mandarin, in Hokkien is “Cheng Beng”, what is it called in English?) should be 5.4.2007(to be exact the the 18th day of the second month of Lunar calender) but most people will start going to the cemetery to clean up and pay respect to the ancestors during the weekend before the actual day since the actual day falls on a weekday.

We went today. My dad went to clean it with my uncles and aunties last Sunday. Started from home at about 6am and reached there at about 6.30am. It’s very near to the Anglican Cemetary. Oppsss.. I had forgotten the cemetery’s name that we went though been going there every year ever since I’m in kindergaten. This year I’m crazy enough to bring my camera along and shot a lot of photos. Hmmm… My relatives were quite amused about me taking photos there but hmm… I think there’s somebody that was not very happy about it(I’m not sure but I think there is). They played along and arranged those “gifts” to my late grandparents for me to take photos. (-.-“) Not sure is the right thing to do or not taking photos there? Hmm… Phew… I didn’t snap “something”.

You know the Chinese cemetery is always such a spooky place. However, I dare to walk alone in the dark with torchlight to my grandparents’ grave. Hehehe… There’s no light there at all, it’s pitch black but the grave is not so far from the parking place, that’s why I dare hahaha… Well… I only walked there alone once, it was few years back. My cousin was shocked when they reached and saw me alone there while my parents were still unloading stuffs at the car. NO NO NO, it’s not what you’re thinking OK? I’m aware that I am walking there alone to put down those praying stuffs there and since I’m one of them with the torchlight, so I placed the torchlight there and waited for the rest to arrive. ๐Ÿ˜›

We were quite late this year. Usually we started from home at about 5.30am. It’s quite bright already when we reached there today and so many people there already.

Left: See the smoke from far far away? It’s from another cemetery. You know how much pollution cause by these burning activities? That’s why we alwasy go early so that we won’t be suffocated by all those smokes. No wonder the Taiwanese government urges their citizen to reduce burning activities during Qing Ming. Also, it’s not hot too. The sun was quite strong already at around 7.30am. Usually, we ended the ritual before 8am. This year, we dragged until 9am+ because we were waiting for my another cousin and aunt that couldn’t find the way to the cemetary. It’s about 8am+ when they arrived. Then when we wanted to leave, another cousin and aunt came. So couldn’t leave so soon. Gosshh… The sun was biting every inch of my skin even with umbrellas!

Right: The old fashion hell money and coloured papers scattered on the grave to symbolise that the children and grandchildren had came to visit them.

People busy cleaning up. Some clean the grave and pay respect the same day.

Left: Hahaha… Clothings. This is the old fashion type. It will be burn together with the hell money.

Right: Hell money from the The Hell Bank Corporation. Yes! You got it right! The human bought the money from hell and send it back to hell again. (-.-“) Oh… So there is no heaven at all. We die, we all go to hell. If those go to heaven, they won’t be getting anything right? Or heaven is already filled with all the things they need so there is no need to give them anything. So That’s why only got hell money no heaven money.

Hmm… Think from another perspective, since generally people always said that, if you are good you go to heaven; if you are bad, you go to hell. So you are very sure your love ones are bad, that’s why they go to hell. How disrespectful to them? I’m sure no one will want their love ones to go to hell. If they go to heaven, then I’m sure they will be very sad that you think that they are not a good person.

All these are just gimmick of the businessmen. I’m a Christian(most of my relatives are not), so I don’t believe in these stuffs. To us, hell is hell, where those in hell suffer from the burn of fire every single second. There is nothing else but fire. No matter how many things you had “sent” to hell they will not get it at all. There’s no such thing. What’s on earth, remains on earth. It won’t go anyway unless they have spirits or souls. You are just burning your money. It seems to be a sane way to burn money instead of burning the real money hahaha…

Modern clothings! Got heels, got shoes, got hat, got trousers, shirts, dress, skirts, wallet, mobile phone, pen even credit card from The Hell Bank! Branded wallet and belt summore! *LOL*

Left: Some food for offerings.
Middle: Another type of hell money. Every buddhist group has their own type of hell money.
Right: We have Darlie, they have Hellie. So funny… It comes with Toothbrush and towel too.

Left: These are money too. They are the money used in the olden days called silver ingot or “yuan bao”.
Right: Let’s burn them! Let’s burn money!

On the way out of the cemetery. See the long queue of cars, “smoking” hills(not so clear) and the tombs(not so clear also).

This year we made a last minute decision to visit the ashes storage place of my uncle and my cousin. It’s at the one and only crematorium in Kuching. I’m not sure the name of the place. This is my second time there. I didn’t attend the cremation of my cousin.

Left: They have quite a nice water feature there.
Right: The place where the worshippers place their joss sticks. Quite a tall one. What you see here is the top part.

This is where all the ashes are kept. You have to pay a yearly maintenance fee, not sure how much, depends on the “slot” too. To buy a “slot”, the price depends on the position too, the cheapest is RM6000. The most expensive is RM24,000(photo on the right).

Reached home, showered, slept, ate then online till now. This is my April’s Fool. How about you?
