iGloo – Charmy Snow Ice

Posted on March 11, 2007March 13, 2007 By sweet surrender 17 Comments on iGloo – Charmy Snow Ice

The weather is hot lately don’t you think? Want something cooling? We have a new place for something cool in Kuching. It was launched not long ago. iGloo, situated at the same row as Roseberry.

Left: You will not miss it with such cute signboard.
Right: The decorations in the shop. I like it very much.

Left: Something you can see below the counter. So cute hehehe…
Right: The interior. Such a specially design. Very refreshing concept. Of course, if you don’t like to sit on highchairs, you can opt to sit at the side where normal chairs and tables are available. Gosssh… The air-con was so cold.. *shiver*, eating ice summore (-.-“) but outside was so hot.
Their menu. It’s plastic menu. Quite heavy. Actually iGloo is a franchise. They have franchise all over the world which include Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia(JB, Kuching, Miri[or is it Bintulu? Can’t recall]), Taiwan, China etc. The HQ is in Taiwan(I think…).

The ice is not normal ice. The texture is different, it’s not the same as what you get in ais kacang. The texture is fluffy. They have more than 5 flavours(chocolate, milk, green tea, coffee, mango, peanut, strawberry), more coming if not mistaken.
Left: Milk Ice with Chocolate(RM4.80).
Right: Mango Ice with Grape Wine(RM5.00), this is self customised, not available in the menu. You can customise your own snow ice. The more ingredient the more expensive.
The cheapest snow ice you can get is RM4.80 and the most expensive is RM6.

They also offer cakes, puddings and teas. For these, you have to ask the staff about it because that’s what stated in the menu.

Quite a nice place to hang out with friends. Not bad 🙂

Borneo Highlands – Lunch & Goodbye

Lunch time! We checked out before we went for lunch at Annah Rais Cafe.
Left: Satay, vegetarian version of course. The satay tasted good. Also salads.
Right: Corn and egg soup. Very thick, love it!

Rice, beehoon, mixed veggies, and pineapple beef(not real meat, don’t dream!)

Mixed veggies again… And “you cha kueh” cooked with sweet sauce(this should be the morning leftover and they turned it into another type of dish), and fruits.

left: Red rice porridge, at first we thought it’s red bean porridge. 😛 So thick! It’s cooked with sugar, coconut milk and sago.
Right: Coffee or tea?

While we were dining, the fog(it’s called fog right?) kept coming on and off. One moment things became invisible, another moment it’s visibile again. As if you’re in the fairy land or something. The weather was very cooling that day compare to the day before. We were expecting it to turn hotter around 1pm but still the same. See the photos below… WOW!

Must take photo as memory before going down. See the view behind us? Couldn’t even see the field at the back. The visibility was so low.

That’s the end of my Borneo Highlands trip report. My conclusion, it’s a nice place to escape. The resort is small and this makes the staffs able to give you more personal attention, make you feel comfortable, and they treat you just like their friends instead of a customer. They are very helpful too. Food tastes good. Compare with those vegetarian food out there, out there sucks. The environment is great except hahaha… Maybe the washing closet and no attached shower but I don’t really mind. Price wise, on the normal days without promotion are a wee bit too high for many people. Other than that, I’m quite happy with it.

Oh, we didn’t have enough time to get a massage/facial. They start from RM80 and above and the shortest duration is 30 minutes depending on which massage/facial you are getting. It will be charged into your room.

By the way, the videos are up in You Tube. I will post them here when I’m free. I think you are overloaded with the trip report already hahahah…

I still have a lot of photos unrelease ;P I will blog again about it when I have nothing to blog. It’s too pretty that’s why must share them with you. Not to forget our camwhore photos too;p

Mind you, this trip is fully beared by ourselves, Borneo Highlands isn’t paying us anything for this review. As for the offer, I had finalised with them. Too bad it’s only applicable for a group of 10 people or more and I must go too else you won’t be able to get that offer. I don’t think I can go again this year since I have other things lining up. I have to let the offer go and sorry to all of you that looking forward to the offer. Too bad… Don’t worry, there will be another offer in August. I will update you on it by then.

The inside of tea house. Finally stomach filled after hours of starvation :P.

After breakfast, we strolled the flower garden.

Borneo Highlands – Dinner @ Annah Rais Cafe

We had our dinner at Annah Rais Cafe. It’s buffet style and the dress code of the night was smart casual or chinese costume. Borneo Highlands does not provide any meat for meals and even tea breaks. They are 100% meatless, only vegetarian(artificial) meats are use. The vegetables and fruits are mostly or all planted in Borneo Highlands itself and they are organic ones. The tastes are not that empowering. Quite bland but it’s acceptable. I had never tasted vegetarian food with such bland taste, it’s a good thing. Usually food in vegetarian restaurants taste too empowering, too much sugar, too much salt and too much MSG.

Left: Our table.
Right: Steamboat. Not exactly :p Hahaha… You just need to pick your choice and hand it over to the staff standing there and they will put them into the boiling soup to cook it for you. Then, handed them back to you in a bowl. There were chicken soup and tomyam soup to choose from.

Left: Salad bar.
Right: Cakes. Just nice, not too sweet.

Left: Mandarin oranges an sarsi jellies.
Right: Coffee and tea.

The main course. Rice, beehoon, various versions of mixed veggies, fried eggs.

Left: The environment.
Right: Entertainement of the night, karaoke. Hahaha… Jimmy and Jason represented our table to sing. It was supposed to be another friend but he escaped. *LOL*

Our group photo. One person missing hahaha… He’s in hiding mode to avoid being ask to sing by the staff.

After the dinner, we went to the spa to use the massage chairs while waiting for the fireworks. At about 10pm++, it started. The fireworks weren’t consistent. Twice we thought that they already ended it but who knows there were still more. The best was left to the end but too bad… We thought they ended it, we went back to our room. Then heard the fireworks again but didn’t care about it as they kept repeating. Suddenly I saw flashes of light outside our window and thought that they had switched location but too bad, I had removed my contact lense and without glasses hahaha… So, I opened the window and manage to see some blurry fireworks. Hahahah… Rainbow colour summore!! Too bad, battery had died earlier on. When I found my glasses, the fireworks display ended. Bummer! Then we realised that they didn’t change the location, they were let off at the same place all those while. We were the one that kept changing viewing locations. Hehehe…

After everything ended at aboout 11pm. We went to bed because we would be going for Highland Tour at 6.30am the next day.

Oregano

Posted on February 25, 2007March 7, 2008 By sweet surrender 7 Comments on Oregano

Went to Oregano at Travillion for the bloggers’ meet last night. I will blog about it later. Will talk about the food and drinks first.

This is my third time there I guess… Can’t recall. The drinks were super duper sweet!!! Man… I think their sugar is FREE! Last time weren’t that bad *shrug*

Blue Travillion (RM7.80), it’s one of the mocktails available. Jimmy ordered this. SWEET SWEET SWEET!

Left: Caramel Milk Shake(RM7.80). I ordered this. Aiyooo.. Why so sweet? Really… As if the sugar is free.
Right: Oregano Chicken(price N/A), it’s ordered by Alex. According to Kenjj and Alex, it’s nothing to rave about and portion was super small.

Most of us got bitten by mosquitoes. Seemed like the mosquitoes were having a big feast last night 😛

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
