Why Do You Go To Miri?

Posted on October 6, 2007October 5, 2007 By sweet surrender 13 Comments on Why Do You Go To Miri?

By the time you are reading this, I should be in Miri already or still in flight. Ah well… Anyway… I’m going there very early morning today and will be back on Monday afternoon. This post is auto-published 😛 Hehehe… I’m on the way there when this is published.

When I told my friends that I’m going to Miri, they will surely ask me why I go there -.-” Then they will say there’s nothing fun to do there, it’s so much more boring than Kuching!

Frankly, I have no idea what I’ll be doing there hahaha… The crazy part of me actually booked the ticket just because there’s an offer by MAS few months back! Also at the same time Jimmy is going, so at least I have a travel companion to split some cost though I will be on my own most of the time as he’s joining an event.

My friend is supposed to bring me around but too bad… He’s down with chicken pox… How lucky is that?!?!?! So… I will be venturing around Miri on my own!

Hahaha… I did mention before that I think I should just book my flight tickets whenever I feel like flying out of Kuching instead of thinking so much about to go or not. I did it! Hahaha… The flight tickets to KL next year is also booked this way! 😛

I will online there :P. I’ll be losing money if I don’t blog for a day or at least complete or grab some paid posts over the weekend ;p hardcore blogger eh? Hahaha…

Olympus Mju 790SW Water Test

Posted on October 5, 2007October 5, 2007 By sweet surrender 20 Comments on Olympus Mju 790SW Water Test

Hmm… The Paypal fund is not in yet after the Paypal fund withdrawal last weekend… still waiting…

YES! I got a new camera :p hahaha… As if you will believe me. Actually it belongs to my sis. She bought it at the price of RM1100 last month. The price advertised in the newspapers is RM1199. They only gave RM99 off but gave her many free gifts, a leather camera casing, a bag and xD card(I can’t remember how big is the capacity). It’s quite new and it’s 7.1Mp, 3x optical zoom, waterproof and shockproof. If you are expecting me to do a full review on this camera, you are wrong 😛 I’m not the expert. I’m just posting this for fun and show you that it’s indeed waterproof hahaha… I forgot to copy the photos out from my sis’ camera to show you the photo taken in the water.

Left: The buttons.
Right: The external speaker and microphone appear to be just holes with nothing to shield it against the invading water. Hmm…

Left: On/Off button and shutter button.
Right: Hahaha… Nothing much, just the bottom.

Now the water test. We switch it on and off in there. Took some shoots, play back and flip it around. Also left it in side the water for couple minutes doing nothing 😛 That’s all. Hahaha…

The camera in the water that was switched to preview mode.

DONE! Hahaha… We took it out from the water and switch it on and off to see whether any short circuit will happen or not and glad to say that it’s OK. Remember the hole that I mentioned? I still don’t understand why the water didn’t go in. Maybe it’s just the casing with fake holes just to indicate to your the microphone and speaker are there?

However, you have to bear in mind that even after you wipe the camera dry, it would still emit water. No idea from where. We just placed it on the table and the water just came out from nowhere as if it’s sweating LOL… So, if you don’t want to get your things wet, make sure you store your camera separately after using it underwater. You can bring it 3 meter underwater.

The verdict? It’s waterproof hahaha… No bluff!

What kind of review was that?!?!?! 😛

Going Blue…

Posted on October 4, 2007November 21, 2008 By sweet surrender 25 Comments on Going Blue…

Finally I’m done with my clear contact lense, starting this month till December, I’m going blue… Hehehe… This is my first time trying out coloured contact lenses. I have two more colours, pure hazel and brown. These 3 boxes cost me RM100, buy 2 free 1. Good thing my both eyes have the same degree so I can buy it this way.

I had changed my contact lense brand many times and settled with Softlense38 for years. At the begining, I was using Seequence, then I tried Acuvue, next I went back to Seequence. Who knows… The price increased so I switched to Softlense38 until now. I’ve been using monthly disposal contact lense ever since the first time I’m introduced to contact lense. As for now, this is the first time I’m going to use 3-month disposal contact lense. For the next 9 months, I will be using colour lenses and every 3 months, my eye colour will change *LOL*

Softlense38 is only 14mm in diameter but Freshlook Colorblends is 14.5mm. Even though they’re only bigger by 0.5, they can really be a pain in the ass. They’re quite big! Took me quite long to get them into my eyes -.-” Not only that, they’re quite soft but a bit more thicker than the usual contact lenses that I used. Quite hard to explain, maybe it’s because of the size that made them a bit harder to retain the shape when on my finger tip or I should say my finger is small *LOL* Another thing is that, it’s quite hard to see whether you got it in correctly or not as there isn’t indication whether it’s inside out or not, have to be very careful. It even got lost inside my left eye yesterday after I insert it! Gosh… Scared the hell out of me, luckily after a few blink it shows itself, got stucked inside my upper lid.

I got the right side in faster than the left. Took it out and wore it back many times because it felt so odd! Due to the colour, you have to get used to it. Summore they are quite big in diameter, it’s a bit uncomfortable.

It took me longer to insert into the left eye. It just didn’t want to go in hahaha… Finally when it’s in, my vision at the corner was very blur even after blinkings and adjusting. I don’t know what’s wrong. The right side was blurred as first but after few blinks it’s OK just a bit uncomfortable because the size is bigger, need to get used to it. Then not long after that it’s OK.

I decided to let it be as I was thinking that it might need sometimes to adjust to my left eye. However, in less than 2 minutes, I couldn’t stand it anymore, I just had to take the left side’s out! I decided to switch sides(good thing my eyes have the same degree else there is no way I can do that -.-“) to see whether it’s my eye problem or one of the contact lenses was defect. I switched them and my right eye could adapt faster, no such problem with it. Then the left eye, the bluriness disappeared a bit slow but it’s not that long. Hmm… However, still both eyes felt a bit uncomfortable.

Few hours later, it’s not that bad anymore but it dried up quite quickly! Oh dear… I’m a bit regret that I bought 3 boxes -.-” I have to stick to them for the next 9 months and constantly rewetting my eyes(I guess…). Arggg… This is my fourth day using it, feeling very much OK already. The blurriness after the insertion didn’t last that long anymore but it really dried up fast. I don’t use them for more than 8 hours so far. The big diameter is really no fun hahaha… I’m using more time to insert them but removing them are very easy maybe due to its texture.

Left: Just my normal eyes…
Right: Damn! I freaked out after wearing it when I stared at myself in the mirror! Felt so fake and the eyes seemed to be no life and cold… Also scary…*LOL* All I see is the thin piece of plastic covering my real eyes. So… Don’t try to piss me off for the next 3 months, I will stare at you using that fake blue eyes of mine to make you feel BLUE… COLD… Then you might get a nightmare after that 😛 I feel as if I’m getting ready for a halloween party -.-” It’s so not my colour… I guess it’s much more suitable for those with light eye colours than dark ones.

I don’t think I will go on using them after I’m done with them, I guess I will just switch back to my good old Softlense38. I don’t like the huge diameter and they dry up fast.

LOL… This experience with coloured contact lense is so much more dramatic than my first time using contact lense.

I wonder… Do Northern Virginia plastic surgeons perform eye colour changing surgery or not? Don’t think there is such thing in this world. Just my crazy thoughts that’s all. Who knows one day there’s such technology but I still prefer changing my eye colour with contact lense instead of going under the knife.

Rhythm Of Ice (2)

Posted on October 3, 2007October 4, 2007 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Rhythm Of Ice (2)

Update: Forgot to mention, they only open till 7pm.

After going to Carpenter Street that day to see the making of largest charity mooncake, we went to get some cold drinks to cool ourselves down at Rhythm Of Ice.

The blue blue interior and the over-fried fries(RM3).

Original Green Tea(RM3.30), Passion Fruit Syrup Snow Ice(RM3.80), Peppermint Milk Tea(RM2.80), Peppermint Ice Bubble(RM3.50).

Again, the drinks are reasonably priced. It’s a place you can consider to hang out with your friends. It’s not an enclosed place with air-conditioning. “Cool”… 😛

Easy Fried Tilapia Fillets

Posted on October 3, 2007October 4, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Easy Fried Tilapia Fillets

I have one recipe to share with you. We always have tilapia at home. Usually what my mom do with it is by steaming it with some ginger and garlic, sometimes will add in a bit of salted vegetables. It’s best eaten when it’s still hot and dip the tilapia meat with chili+soy sauce. Yummy… This is the best way to eat tilapia if it’s very fresh.

However, sometimes it’s not that fresh to steam so we will fried it. Just want to share a recipe here with you and also as my future reference:

Easy Fried Tilapia Fillets
1 pound of Tilapia fillets
Ice water
½ teaspoon of salt
½ teaspoon of fresh ground pepper
¼ cup of flour (preferably all-purpose flour)
2 egg whites
¼ cup of yellow cornmeal
¼ cup of seasoned bread crumbs
1 teaspoon of dried thyme
1 teaspoon of dried marjoram
Cooking spray

Preparation:
– Start by preheating the oven to 400° Fahrenheit.
– Cut the Tilapia fillets into four serving pieces if necessary.
– Place the Tilapia fillets in ice water and allow them to soak for a few minutes.
– Rinse the Tilapia fillets under cold running water, before you carefully pat them dry with a paper towel or similar.
– Place salt, pepper and flour in a shallow pan or plate and mix them together.
– Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks, and disregard the egg yolks. Beat the egg whites until they are white and foamy and put them in another shallow pan or plate.
– Place yellow cornmeal, bread crumbs, dried thyme and dried marjoram in a separate shallow pan or plate and blend the ingredients together.
– Cover the Tilapia fillets by first dipping them into the flour mix and then into the egg white mix.
– Finnish by carefully covering the Tilapia fillets completely in the bread crumb mix.
– Use cooking spray to coat a low sided baking pan.
– Put the Tilapia fillets in the baking pan and bake them in the oven during 10-12 minutes. The fried Tilapia is ready when it is easy to flake the fish using a fork.
