Probably My First & Last Graduation Ceremony

Posted on December 20, 2012December 20, 2012 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Probably My First & Last Graduation Ceremony

Special date today, 20122012.

Finally I’m done! Finally I get to attend my graduation ceremony. I almost couldn’t make it because of administrative issues -.-” If it’s not resolved, I will never get to attend this ceremony and will not have any photos of me graduating too as there is no way to obtain the regalia if I’m back home.

This is my third square head. First one I didn’t attend but I have the studio photo while the second one I missed it as I’m here in Adelaide.

Woke up 6.30am to get ready because need to beautify myself hahaha… It’s been a long time not doing full makeup, really miss it.

Had to reach there at 8.30am for registration and rehearsal. It’s a good thing I live nearby, otherwise I will have to wake up maybe at 5.30am to prepare and take the bus at 7am maybe. I guess things happen for a reason, this is one of it.

No guest for me, I was there alone. So the mirror in the toilet was my tool to help me get these photos ;p

Done with my camwhoring in the toilet, I headed out to spot familiar faces to have photos with them.

Those took the photos with me were my coursemates, colleagues, ex-housemate and friends.

Since the ceremony was only cater for international students, there’s no Australians. Majority were Asians.

For the record, let me see… Those who took photos with me are Malaysians, Chinese (China/HK), Vietnamese, German, and Indonesian.

Since it’s a working day, many couldn’t make it. Also, it’s summer break, many friends have gone back to their home countries.

There’s more photos but not in my camera, it’s in another friend’s camera. Hopefully can get it soon.

Left: My certificate with gifts from ex-housemate(card and chocolate) and my boss(graduation koala).

Right: My photo on stage, bought the prints for AUD50 for 2 copies. Rather expensive but oh well… At least I get to see my face and I don’t think I will be doing this anymore.

Left: My two certificates, one for Graduate Diploma and another for Masters. I didn’t attend my graduate diploma’s graduation as I just want to attend this one.

Right: As I said earlier about administrative issue, I spotted something amiss a week from today. I quickly approached the uni and it’s a good thing they managed to slot me in but I wouldn’t have my name in the graduation booklet as it’s printed out ages ago! It’s ok for me, no big deal. My name will appear for the one next year. I just want to attend the ceremony. I’m the sole graduate for my study, it was so cool to be the only one hehehe… Got special mention “sole graduate” when announcing my name. How nice 😉 So, I did this, wrote my own name in it since I won’t be getting the one for next year hahaha… The one before me also from Kuching, we both are the sole graduate for our study.

The ceremony ended at 11.45am. We had until 1pm to return our robe. That’s when more photo taking continue but they’re not in my camera.

That’s it. At least I get to experience my graduation ceremony of my highest education qualification in a foreign country and a formal university graduation. A once in a lifetime experience, my dream of many years had came true. Thanks to my family who support me in this journey and friends who make my life here fun and interesting. My next journey… I hope will happen soon which is also something I’ve been waiting for ages thinking that I would get it soon but it just ended with a snap of finger more than a month back. Hopefully, the hunt will be over soon.

October, November, December 2012

So much had happened the past months.

Things seemed to be hopeful and falling into places. Went back home for about 3 weeks in October to get some stuffs settled and getting ready for a new life.

Then things took a turn in November 2012, one week after I came back to Adelaide. Hit me hard but I learnt to let go. Just need to revert back to how I’ve been running my life for so many years even though it had changed just for few months. It’s rather hard to revert back to how life was. Things were all a mess, most things didn’t turn out right.

Finally it’s December 2012, the final month of 2012. Decided to enjoy the rest of my time here. No time to be down, no time to waste! Be thankful and appreciate everything that happened. I found that I’m such a lucky girl. God does take care of me. Must enjoy the time left here. Leaving for good in March 2013 to start another new chapter of my life back home.

Graduation ceremony this Thursday. Will have more photos to share. Going to New Zealand next week! WOW! How time flies?!?!

Crabbing at Thompson Beach

Posted on December 16, 2012December 16, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Crabbing at Thompson Beach

Went crabbing yesterday with friends from church at Thompson Beach.

In fact, I wasn’t interested, I just want to watch and also to go somewhere I’ve never been to. I walked towards the sea with them but I turned back half way because it’s too far away. I wasn’t dressed for it too ;p Took me almost 45 minutes to walk and and forth.

There’s quite a number of signs along the way, wonder it’s for the boats? At least something I’ve never seen before.

Crab on the way I walked back and one of the bucket of crabs they caught.

At night, we had crab feast! The one on the left was cooked with beer and the one on the right was cooked with creamy butter. Now I know how to cook creamy butter crab or prawn! I’ve been wondering how, finally I know how. Had curry crab at another friend’s house before this. Feasting on crabs the whole night at two houses! Forgot to take the photo of the first crab dish.

Many suffered from sunburn after that. Including me but mine is rather mild, only the back of my leg as I didn’t properly applied the sunblock there. Luckily I wore a hat and wrapped my body with scarf. I didn’t get burnt but is now rather tanned. Australia’s sun is HARSH!

Kangaroo Island – Part 3

Posted on December 12, 2012December 12, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Kangaroo Island – Part 3

The missing Little Sahara photos.

Didn’t snowboard though, too hot and too lazy to go all the way up. Very sandy too! I might suffer from blindness if I did. Sand is a big no-no for contact lens wearer.

After Little Sahara we went to the wildlife park. Then we headed to KI Spirits for alcohol tasting!! Many people were looking forward to this, including me.

I bought a bottle as souvenir. I bought:

Honey and Walnut Liqueur
Made with freshly roasted Walnuts and Kangaroo Islands famous Ligurian Honey. A rich and spicy dessert liqueur great on ice cream or with coffee (affogato) – recently described as liquid hot cross buns.
33% Alc/vol

I’m not gonna drink this, it will be part of my collection back home *LOL* At first I wanted to buy Pink Lily Strawberry Liqueur but they didn’t have smaller bottle as I didn’t want a big one, too hard and too heavy to move around since I need to move from one place to another and need to get it back all the way to Malaysia.

Our last stop, for dinner, pizza dinner at Hog Bay.

Group photos 🙂 Many Malaysians on this trip.

Finally! I stepped foot on Kanagaroo Island. Will I go back again? No… Once is enough. Not that it’s not good, it was good but just not my type of destination that I will revisit unless it’s all expenses paid hehehe…

Kangaroo Island – Part 2

Posted on December 9, 2012December 9, 2012 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Kangaroo Island – Part 2

To the seal we go…

Blue blue sky, blue blue sea, and a baby seal looking for its mother.

First time see such creature with my own eyes! Always it was on TV. Never thought would have the chance to see the real ones.

After that, we headed to Vivione Bay for simple lunch. Not sure what’s the name of this accommodation though ;p didn’t pay attention.

Next we headed to Little Sahara for sandboarding. I forgot to edit this photos! -.-” Will make it up in the next post.

Then, we went to Parndana Wildlife Park for kangaroo feeding, koala spotting and so on. It’s not a very big place. Was expecting it to be something huge but it’s very small and intimate park.

The highlight would be feeding the kangaroo. You’re on Kangaroo Island! It’s a must to see and feed kangaroo! Else, how is the trip gonna be complete? Even though you can always do it at other places in Australia, the species here different from those on the mainland. So that’s the unique part.

Finally, said goodbye to Stanley Bites. He would give you huge reaction and cry!!

After this place, we went for spirit tasting. To be continued…
