Update: I tried to call Dell again and after all the possible diagnosis on the phone, they have to send a technician over tomorrow. The tech support was blur about it also, never he encounter such problem *LOL* At least he assured me it’s not my hard disk problem, I’m so relieved. For the time being, have to make use of this old laptop, hang… Hang… Hang… Wait… Wait… Wait… TOLD YOU I’M JINXED!!! No matter how good the gadget is, as long that I’m the one buying it, I’m the one using it, there would surely be at least one problem π
SHIT SHIT SHIT! MY XPS is now in huge trouble! It can’t startup!!! It kept accessing the DVD drive, it sounded like Transformer and no loading of Windows -.-” I tried to slot a Dell driver CD in and thought might be able to prompt the screen to show something but to no avail and worst it cannot be ejected!! *CRY* Called Dell support and all the agents were busy and waiting for them to call me back. Now using old laptop… Hang, hang, hang… I almost want to reformat everything from this old laptop and fully use the new one, luckily I didn’t. OMG! WHAT HAPPEN!!! Yesterday was fine. Before I shut down, Windows update itself and this morning cannot startup π
Anyway, let’s go back to the main topic…
Hehehehe… For the first time so many of us appear in the newspapers yesterday hehehe… Let’s see:
Can you spot us? π See the four arrows?
Top: Shen(right) and I(left).
Bottom: Jimmy(left) and Edwin(right).
It’s about Mummycare Baby-in-Walker Driving Contest 2008 in TheSundayPost. We were invited to cover the event π
The highlight of the day!! Guess who’s on the first page of Postmag? Looks familiar? No? Hahaha…
It’s Edwin and his son! I got a bit of shock when I saw it hehehe… WAH! First page, cover page summore.
When am I going to have this opportunity? π Hahaha… Joking. I don’t think I want to hahaha… Too much exposure π
din see u guys there…but i read about Edwins and Silas’ story about fatherhood…
very interesting too…
Lol. Waiseh.. Over nite star ya.. Hehehe.. Cool!
Anyway, for your ejecting problem.. If you notice at the cd-rom drive there’s a small hole you can actually poke with a paper clip. That would help eject your cd.
Try entering your bios system upon start up. A few things could occur, probably 1 is maybe your laptop is starting up from DVD rom but your hard disk is not selected. Or 2, your harddisk “kong”.
Good luck π
T-Mo-T of coz you don’t see la π It’s not even in Postmag, it’s just somewhere in the newspapers.
Alex, there’s no such thing there because it’s slot type, not the normal tray coming out type hahaha… As for startup thing, I totally cannot go in the system so I can’t do anything. Not even a flicker of life that the screen show me. Don’t think is the hard disk “kong”.
I didn’t read newspaper for quite sometimes dy. Will try to search for yesterday’s postmag?
me too.. quite a while no read newspapers π yesterday just flipped flipped and saw hahaha…
Well, what happened to your XPS? Just don’t start? Which Windows are you using? Windows Vista Home? I don’t quite like those updated from Windows. A good system sometimes just dies because of the updates. Need to be very choosy with that thing but most of the time, they’re alright. If you only have a english version running, I would reckon you put in the Service Pack 1 which has been released. But if you have other languages installed, then you’ll need to wait.
As for the slot type DVD rom, I’ve got the same thing over here. I think there is some hardware failure somewhere. A good thing to trouble shoot will be the bios. Maybe can set it to by-pass the DVD rom startup for now but I think Dell should be able to fix it up for you.
I have a collague who works for Dell technical support before and when things doesn’t go vey well, you should be a little demanding. Ask for something.. Eg: if they can’t get it fixed, in one day, ask for it to be replaced. if i takes longer, as for an upgrade.. sometimes they allow depending on the situation. My friend managed to squeeze thru a USB stick and a wireless mouse for Dell’s late delivery.
Patrick, there’s no way I can go into the BIOS at all. The screen is not showing anything, not even a single sign of life to it. Even using the tips given by dell support to go into BIOS also show nothing -.-” I think the main culprit is the update. Sigh… Don’t know how long they will fix it. π
Thanks Irene for the favour… and I still owe you the CD. I need to rechoose and re-edit for you so the photos look much nicer. Thats why take a bit of time… …
