U-Week SP1 2012, this was what I busy with ever since I got back from Korea. It’s an event followed after orientation week. We have orientation week, then U-week, 2 weeks of events because we got too many campuses and too many faculties. Can’t do all in a day. Also, each faculty has their own orientation activities. I was assigned to be one of the coordinators for this study period’s U-Week. Busy and crazy weeks, running around from one campus at the end of the city to another campus at the other end of the city almost everyday *LOL*
Finally the big days came… Tuesday 28th Feb, Mawson Lakes, this is where you can find the future computer experts, engineers, pilots, and teachers here ;p A place for all things technical.
Huge campus. It was quite far from the city and I had to take a bus at 7am. Was so afraid that I would miss the stop because there’s so many sub-stops for a stop -.-” Luckily there’s also other people going to this campus. I took a different bus this time that’s why. My first time there, I took the wrong bus and had to walk quite a fair bit ;p Had to set up the marquess, tables, and assigning spaces for the external providers.
It’s quite cold that day, it was cloudy but luckily no rain, phew…
Left: First time seeing a boat up-close ;p
Right: Play volleyball!
Rock climbing and musical performance.
Fencing and dancing. Basically, these were also the activities that took place each day in each campus during U-Week.
Then, the next day, Wednesday 29th Feb, at Magill. Took a bus at around 7am. Luckily this campus wasn’t that hard to go, it’s the last stop and I was the only one on the bus from the city to this campus so early in the morning ;p
It’s my second time to this campus, first time was at night. This is where you can find the future artists, teachers, journalists, counsellors, psychologists, social workers and so on here. It’s all about art and social science.
It rained cats and dogs! -.-” What a torture.
On the third day, Thursday 1st Mar, it’s City East’s turn! Didn’t have to wake up so early because it’s near my place and not much to set up because the structure was already there.
This campus is where the future nurses, midwives, pharmacists, dieticians, and so on are studying. Health and medical science courses are conducted here.
Time for us to go crazy after weeks of planning ;p This is the team but minus one person, he didn’t join us in the photos.
I was multi-tasking on this day. As a coordinator, flyer distributor, marshall, food handler, dishwasher, and promoter. Never in my life taking up so many roles in 4 hours.
Lastly, City West campus, Friday 2nd Mar. It was the largest and the setting up of the venue was really hard work! One whole street was blocked from traffic. The number of participants also doubled!
This campus is where I’m studying. This is where all the business, commerce, law, and architecture students are. It’s where you can find most Asians too as compare to other campuses.
Luckily the weather was awesome! We were so worry that it would rain but it didn’t. Phew…
There you go… After this event, my life has finally gone back to normal. What a relief! Great experience!
You can take a train to Mawson Lake. 20 minutes from the City Railway station.
William, I know but but some walking required, with bus it’s just straight outside the campus.
