Hehehe… Bought this cake few nights ago. Cost us RM84, the cake weighed 2kg+, it’s actually quite worth it if you compare buying from the usual bakery, summore Secret Recipe’s cake isn’t that sweet and it’s quite moist. This cake is under the health cakes category that’s why it’s a bit more expensive but still worth it compare to those cakes you get at the bakery.
It’s quite surprising that my dad actually suggested to buy cake from Secret Recipe. I bought Mango Delight home on my first visit and he didn’t give any positive nor negative comments. Then my cousin bought Chocolate Indulgence for us during CNY this year, suprisingly my dad said that it’s nice! He didn’t like chocolate cakes but for this he said that it’s delicious and it’s not sweet. WOW! That’s why this time he decided to buy one whole cake from Secret Recipe as a belated birthday cake for my sis. *LOL*
The outer coat cream is very sweet I dont’ like it but the inside is sour, pair with the sugar-less sponges, it’s quite nice. The outer coat cream is sandy because of the apricot sugar that made up of the cream I guess. My mom likes it, my dad says that it’s ok, not very sweet but prefer Chocolate Indulgance hahaha… Something from someone that doesn’t like chocolate cake hahaha… SURPRISE! I didn’t expect Secret Recipe can actually be a place that my dad consider to buy cakes from. It’s rare OK?!?! Since he usually prefers something old fashion for food.
Since the cake is BIG! Cutting with knife would mess the whole cake up. So I had this stupid idea of cutting the cake with thread(the rough type) or using the fishing line(LOL… What do you call it? The string people use to fish :P). Hahaha… My family actually game for the idea and my sis and I tried it out:
Since the inside is soft, it’s possible and it’s not messy, cream intact. No messy knife too.
Cut it into 4 parts, tried to take one quarter out but found out the bottom didn’t get cut so we used the knife provided to finish the cut hence the messiness inside the layers, it would be better using fishing line as it’s tougher and more solid(I think…). Good thing is that it’s not that messy like previously when we cut the CNY cake hahaha… That time we had to cut it using the biggest knife in our kitchen!! Hahaha…
You can try this way to cut cake next time using thread/fishing line hehehe…
Been eating this cake for 2 days already 😛 Was my breakfast and was last night’s dessert *LOL* Just one thing I don’t understand, since it’s health cake, why the cream is so sweet!??! Hahaha…
Great idea to use the string! No mess, no fuss. Will try that on soft cakes next time. 🙂
