I Cook (1)

Posted on July 7, 2010July 8, 2010 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on I Cook (1)

People that know me knows that I don’t really cook, especially for one complete meal. These days, I have to cook, what to do? I have to clear the fridge and also eating out or tapao everyday is not something that I fancy doing.

Since last Thursday, I’ve been stir frying some vegetables that were left in the fridge, I didn’t take those photos. Just simple stir fried of various green leafy vegetables with garlic and seasoned with some salt and Ajinamoto. As for meat, I just microwaved the pre-marinated chicken that we bought. That one packet of chicken lasted us 3 days.

These were our dinner last Sunday night. Fruits and vegetables salad and spaghetti bolognaise. My bro cooked it actually, I supervised ;p

Left: Monday night, we had tomyam beef wanton soup. I wrapped the wonton with minced beef. Very simple and easy, boil the pot of water, put in tomyam cube, then put in the wanton and mushroom. Lastly, the tomato slices. We experimented this dish, first time had beef wonton, it tasted a bit odd with tomyam soup *LOL*

Right: Tuesday night, stir fried vegetables again. Basically all my garlic stir fried vegetables all look similar to this ;p

Left: Tuesday night, black pepper spaghetti. I tried this dish before somewhere few years back but wasn’t very nice. So I decided to cook my own to see whether I could beat that or not. It was not bad, albeit a bit dry because I didn’t have enough cooking oil. It was quite spicy but tasted so much better than the one I had last time. This is very easy and simple to cook too.

Prepare your spaghetti, heat a little bit of oil in the frying pan, then fried the spaghetti just like you fried noodle. Pour black pepper sauce(up to you on how much you want, the more the spicier) and stir fried it for awhile. Season with a bit of salt and Ajinamoto. As simple as that.

Right: Tuesday night also, microwaved some chicken wings, marinated it with premix sauce. It looked nice don’t you think? However, it was tasteless and overcooked ;p I set the timer a bit too long. Actually the premix sauce was not supposed to be used as marinate, again… Experimenting hehehe…

Left: Today’s lunch, white rice and stir fried sweet peas and yellow capsicum with Chinese sausage in black pepper sauce. Only a bit of black pepper sauce to taste, that explains the slight brownish colour of the dish and I was surprised with how good it tasted 😉

Right: Today’s dinner, light soy sauce fried rice with Chinese sausage, french beans, pineapple, and mushroom. I got no skill hehehe… It’s kind of tasteless, luckily the Chinese sausage gave the rice the taste when you chew them together. Did season with salt, pepper, and Ajinamoto but not enough ;p

That’s all for now. Oneweek plus to go…

P/S: Don’t ask me for measurement, I just followed my instincts.

HEINZ Exotics Malaysian Laksa Soup

Posted on July 6, 2010July 7, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on HEINZ Exotics Malaysian Laksa Soup

My bro was curious when he saw HEINZ Exotics Malaysian Laksa Soup at the hypermarket, so he bought it. It’s made in New Zealand. I’m sure you are very curious too on how will it taste or turn out. Malaysian Laksa made in New Zealand, didn’t really make sense eh?

There you go… The colour looked awful.

Taste wise, the spiciness was very mild. It’s sweet, thick and creamy. A bit yucky towards the end though *LOL* Wasn’t very bad. I forgot to take note of what kind of ingredients were in the soup, my rough guess… Bamboo shoot, noodle, chili, lemon grass, coconut milk, tamarind that’s all I know.

Not really sure what to expect because there are so many versions of laksa in Malaysia. I have no idea which laksa this one resembles to.

I’m trying to search for more information about HEINZ Exotics Malaysian Laksa Soup online but couldn’t find any. Hmm…

Old Town White Coffee @ KIA

Posted on July 5, 2010July 5, 2010 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Old Town White Coffee @ KIA

I’ve never dine at Old Town White Coffee until last week. The first outlet in Kuching is located at Kuching International Airport. The second one is at Hills.

Since we were at the airport that day, I thought that the others would be joining us for dinner, so I decided to try out Old Town White Coffee, who knows… They all didn’t want to eat, said that they will just eat on the plane. Cheh… If I knew, I would just go for dinner somewhere else.

Can you see the receipt? GOSH! The fresh lemon tea(cold) actually cost RM5.50! I thought the glass would be big but guess what?!?! The average size glass you could find out there in market might just cost you more or less RM1.50 but the one here was so small, so much smaller than the average glass. Imagine that?!?! Made from gold water I guess, the lemon and tea might have been grown with gold soil. The price I would expect with this size and for such establishment at the airport, RM3-4 might be reasonable but RM5.50 is just too much -.-”

After this experience I will never ever go to Old Town anymore even the one in town. Unless I’m not the one paying. Heart attack I tell you. I would rather go to Starbucks for the drinks.

Anyway, how’s the price at the one in town?

For the food, we ordered the cheapest noodle but even the cheapest cost RM9.80 each! Thought the portion was big after seeing the bowls on other tables but aiyoyoyo… Big bowl only, the content was so little. Such portion with such price, really cut throat. The most expensive noodle I ever had in my life and it’s not like it’s the most delicious one, it’s just so-so. If it’s RM5-6 maybe acceptable but RM9.80… Not good.

Left: Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun. It’s on the sweeter note, don’t like it.

Right: Assam Laksa. Taste wise was not very bad but nothing to rave. At least it’s much better compare to the one I had last time at a kopitiam. Just the price… *shake head*

That’s my experience with Old Town at KIA. Not worth to spend such money on such food -.-” I would have more food and nicer food with such money at some other place.

The Borneo Funk Fest ’10 (BFF ’10)

Posted on July 3, 2010July 4, 2010 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on The Borneo Funk Fest ’10 (BFF ’10)

Did you go to The Borneo Funk Fest ’10 at Grand Margherita Hotel yesterday night? Are you still there now?

Went there early yesterday, before 7pm, the crowd wasn’t that great yet. You know… It’s still early to party. However, towards the night, the place was filled with people! The balloon coconut trees were so cute! How I wish I could carry one home LOL…

The stage and the surrounding.

The drink corner, you could buy soft drinks, bottled water, some cocktails, or beer. While waiting for the crowd to build up, the DJ spinning some music to pump up the mood of the party.

Left: Finally at 8pm, the show started! The MC was very entertaining.

Right: Amy Winehouse(she’s the look-alike, not the real one) was the first to perform.

Left: The little girl that joined her on stage, she was good! The star in the making, I don’t remember her name, either Misha or Aisha.

Right: Next up it was Madonna(the look-alike of course!) She performed and also went down the stage to interact with the party goers. She really sang like Madonna and she was quite entertaining.

Left: Again… The little girl joined her.

Right: I wanted to wait until Lady Gaga(the look-alike again ;p) but due to certain circumstances, I had to leave early. I missed out on the hunt for the ambassador too. I heard from those staying till late that “Lady Gaga” sounded similar to Lady Gaga. Cool!

It was a great night. Tonight is the second night.

I had recorded the short videos of both performers but no time to upload them yet. I’ll post them tomorrow and you can judge them for yourself. 😉 Mind you, they came all the way from the UK!
