The Last Day of July

Posted on July 31, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on The Last Day of July

I’m very random ;p For the record, after so many years of having an update a day, this time I didn’t have any update for the past few days until today.

Server move isn’t happening yet but soon.

By the way, Kuching Festival starts tonight. Going to pay a visit there quite often I guess since it’s near to my place.

Finally got myself registered for IELTS, the test will be on 14th August. Hopefully can get at least band 7 for every single component, have to, that’s the minimum requirement for me to qualified. Practice, practice, practice.

That’s all for now. Enjoy your weekend!

Crazy & Busy Months Ahead

Posted on July 28, 2010July 31, 2010 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Crazy & Busy Months Ahead

August is just around the corner. Starting August, there comes the crazy and busy months for sure but I’m already feeling the heat now. I don’t think I have much time to breath by then -.-” this whole craziness will only end in November, I hope… Gosh… Must hang in there.

Kuching Festival will start this weekend. WOW! Time really flies.

A very big event of my client will be held in August and there’s going to be a lot of works for me to do. Really cannot imagine the coming workload.

I also need to hand up my assignment(good thing, done it already, just not yet print out), couple of night classes to attend, prepare and sit for exams(semester exam, lucky one paper only, and IELTS), coming practical this month end(I really dread this, going to last for 40 school days, 6 hours a day starting at the ungodly hour every morning aih…), going here and there to get my things prepared for next year, “chasing” payments from clients(happened that all need to be collected in August), and quite a number of projects in queue awaiting to get started.

That’s all for now. I’m in the process of preparing this blog to move to a new server. Hopefully it will be able to stay up until August because the bandwidth is almost reaching its max level! *gulp*

Garnier Dark Spot Corrector Pen

Posted on July 27, 2010July 28, 2010 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Garnier Dark Spot Corrector Pen

I’ve notice that there are quite a number of dark spots appearing on my face. Decided to get Garnier Dark Spot Corrector Pen to reduce the spots visibility. It’s not expensive, very affordable, why not? I wasn’t very sure about the effectiveness of this thing when I bought it though. Since it’s quite cheap, after discount it’s about RM15 or less.

After one month of using it, I do notice some improvement. I’m using it day and night after toner. Sometimes I’ll forget, so I’ll apply it after moisturiser. Only need a little bit, this tube will surely last quite long for me.

See the difference? I can assure you it’s not due to the lighting. No matter what kind of lighting, the spots were quite obvious when I have my photos taken. Especially these 3.

Now, they are lightened, not as dark as they used to be. I could notice the difference when I camwhore too ;p

I love the smell. The texture seemed oily and thick but it’s not. I would say it’s a good buy.

Bloggers, Do You Give Out Your Photos or Videos for Free?

Posted on July 26, 2010July 28, 2010 By sweet surrender 10 Comments on Bloggers, Do You Give Out Your Photos or Videos for Free?

Well… I really don’t know… There’s always two ways in looking at the matter. I’m not sure how the others will look at it, some might agree, some might not.

As a blogger, I sometimes get invited to attend events. It can be given with free entrance/food/drink/products or with a fee in addition to the earlier mentioned. The latter is rare but there were some. Usually if I am required to cover an event, I was only expecting to blog about it, I’m not required to provide them with the photos or videos that I had taken.

Worst things is that when people did not bother to hire the professionals for the tasks and expecting the bloggers to give them all those for free which usually might cost thousands if they were to hire the pros. Even if they did get the pros, I do not expect to give them as it is way out of my job scope.

I’m not sure about the reporters. Do you release the photos you had taken to the organizers? Maybe some photos I guess depending on your relationship with the person but you are not oblige to give right? As far as I know, you only use the photos for newspaper reports. Basically, that’s my understanding. I’m not your photographer, I’m not your videographer, unless it was earlier agreed upon. On normal case, I’m a blogger, I only blog, nothing more, nothing less.

I do admit that I did release my photos taken for free last time for events because I wasn’t aware of the consequences. Another reason was also because they were friends’ events. It’s similar like how amateur photographers giving free photo shoots or giving their photos up for the sake of building a portfolio.

Let’s put it this way, I think photos or videos are subjected to certain extend of copyrights. If you gave them up for free, if the people that you gave didn’t use it for commercial usage, it’s fine. If they did, then you are really at a losing end. They are earning money from it for long term and you get nothing from your hard work.

Another problem is that once you give out your photos or videos for free, others will expect to get it free from you next time. Correct? When you say you will charge, they will be caught with surprise and think that you are so money oriented. Hmm…

Sometimes people don’t understand or just being ignorance. *Shrug* I don’t know.

I blog for a living, just like the others that work for a living. If you are expecting me to give you things for free without giving anything in return(e.g. barter trade or monetary compensation or at least not asking for something more than my job scope), how am I going to live?

For those who do not rely on blogging as their main source of income, that might be a different story. Then, this might give a wrong impression to the public that bloggers don’t have to be paid to do things. Sadly, many people do think so. There is not enough awareness on this issue I guess…

Really, there’s two ways to look at it. No right or wrong. I guess at the end you are the one that will decide whether you should give them up for free or not.

As for me, it’ll be on a case-by-case basis.

Lastly, I guess I will get less assignments now to cover events because people have to be very careful when dealing with me hahaha… Oh well… What I’m trying to say is that we should be all working together for a win-win situation rather than taking advantages of each other which will not do any good to anyone.

Thorntons Praline Melts

Posted on July 25, 2010July 25, 2010 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Thorntons Praline Melts

I’m not chocolate expert but I love chocolate. I have no idea what makes a good chocolate, I only know the chocolate is good as long that it suits my palette. This goes the same as food, even if it’s not original or whatever, as long that it suits my palette and edible, I don’t care. I’m really not that picky.

Here’s another chocolate from Thorntons. It’s called Thorntons Praline Melts. These little treats have a deliciously melty praline centre encased in a smooth Thorntons milk chocolate shell.

Well… What you see here is from the fridge, can’t store it outside, it’s hot here in Malaysia. However, once you pop it into your mouth, the centre will melt really fast. Actually it’s a bit big for me to pop the whole thing into my mouth.

Quite like it. It would taste even nicer if it’s not stored in the fridge. Imagine the melty praline bursts inside your mouth, oh… Yum yum…

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
