My Chicken Restaurant @ Tabuan Plaza

Posted on September 5, 2010September 6, 2010 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on My Chicken Restaurant @ Tabuan Plaza

I don’t understand why people name their eateries with such weird and mind provoking name, I’m sure the Chinese will know what I mean, even the local non-Chinese should know too *LOL* There’s “The Chicken Shop” and “The Duck Shop” in Kuching!

Anyway, you heard of My Chicken Restaurant? The first branch is the one at 10th Mile, the one at Tabuan Plaza is the second branch. As expected, the place was packed during the 1st two days of opening at Tabuan Plaza.

The queue was the same at 7pm and 9.30pm, very long queue some more for both counters. My parents wanted to try it out so we went there for dinner on 3rd of September but ended up buying it back home for supper *LOL*. We had our dinner at another eatery at the area. My Chicken Restaurant was so empty during the day, we didn’t expect the place to be so packed at night. I guess because it’s new, it’s Friday night, and it’s the last day of buy 1 set meal, get another set meal for free promotion.

The set meal, we bought one and got another one for free. Each box consisted of a piece of chicken, a container of coleslaw, a packet of fries, a bun, and a cup of soft drink.

All I can say is do not expect the chicken to taste like KFC, McD, or Sugarbun. It’s totally different. The more I ate, the saltier it got but I’m OK with salty food. It might be a bit too salty for some people. The coleslaw tasted as it supposed to be. As for the fries, it was somehow tasteless, not up to my expectations.

Did you join the craze? My dad and bro queued up for almost an hour hahaha… Can you imagine that?

Happy 28th Birthday to Me

Posted on September 4, 2010September 5, 2010 By sweet surrender 12 Comments on Happy 28th Birthday to Me

Time flies… I’m turning 28 this year, going to hit 30 in no time! However, I don’t feel like I’m 28, instead I’m only 18 hahaha…

At this age, many of my friends are either engaged, married, have children, climbing up the corporate ladder, buying properties, and so on. Everyone is moving to the next phase of life. One of my friends gave birth to her first child yesterday, just few hours shy away from sharing the same birth date as mine 😉

Me? None of the mentioned. I’m still trying to figure out where I belong to, where I want to end up in life. As many of you know, I have a plan for next year, most know what it’s all about and I’m sure by reading some of my posts you will roughly know too. It will be a turning point for me, trying to discover my strengths and weaknesses by getting out of my comfort zone and trying to figure out where my life should lead me to. I believe there is something out there, something hidden inside of me that is not discovered, I need to find it, that’s why I’m not settling down and there’s no sign of me settling down too, not until I found what I want or what I’m supposed to do. It’s a huge step, I’m going to explore a whole new environment, a whole new life awaiting me. Will I end up with it after the period of time ended or come back to my comfort zone? We will have to see by then.

Remember my IELTS exam? I can’t laugh sigh… I got a phone call yesterday telling me that I have to resit. I thought of changing plan but apparently after doing some research, I have no other option but go back to the initial plan. Sigh… So… I will be resitting IELTS this coming 25th September hopefully will nail it this time. All component 7!!

I’m very worry about writing because the topics are fixed, speaking part I’m quite worry too because I tend to become disoriented if I got too excited+nervous and I would forget about my grammar, run out of vocabulary and “lies”(ideas) just like what happened that time *gulp* Seriously need to overcome this problem. In fact I’m also worry about the listening part, I was lucky the first time, not sure will I be lucky this time around to score almost a perfect 9.

I guess my main problem was being too nervous that day, I hope this time around I will not be so nervous anymore because I’ve been there once and I know what to expect. That’s one expensive “tuition fee”. Have to part with another RM550!! Not cheap! Total will be RM1100, this amount is enough for me to travel to several places or about 1 month rental for next year 🙁 What I’m afraid now is if I still do not get at least 7 for each of the component, I’m seriously in deep shit.

I have more or less 20 days to prepare but after subtracting those days that I will be packed, I have an average of less than a week to prepare 🙁 Then again, I now have problem with how to prepare for the resit. I’m so lost, I have no idea where to start, I’ve exhausted everything I could find and do that time. Am I going to do the preparation the same way? I really don’t know…

Anyway, that’s all for today. Have a great weekend!

Thorntons Dark Chocolate with Ginger

Posted on September 3, 2010September 3, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on Thorntons Dark Chocolate with Ginger

Dark chocolate with ginger, weird combination don’t you think so? Very weird indeed.

The dark chocolate wasn’t that bitter, maybe because it contained 61% of Togo cocoa beans. There were real pieces of ginger in there. Real spicy ginger pieces.

It’s quite weird but once you got used to the taste, it’s not that bad after all, still a bit odd to have such combination. If you want me to buy it the again, I don’t think I’ll buy it again but I don’t mind having it again.

Another Usage of Eye Cream/Gel

Posted on September 1, 2010 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Another Usage of Eye Cream/Gel

Do you have eye cream or gel that doesn’t work for you such as it’s too oily or just doesn’t give any effect to your eyes? We all know eye cream/gel is never cheap, it’s expensive. When it’s not suitable for us, it will be left there on the dresser forever. Such a waste don’t you think so?

Here’s what you can do that I had just found out from watching a Taiwanese beauty show, Queen/女人我最大 (Nu Ren Wo Zui Da).

Use it as your neck cream!! That way, your eye cream/gel won’t go to waste. This is because according to the show, our skin around the eyes and neck are similar therefore eye cream/gel is more suitable for your neck.

Now, you don’t have to waste that expensive eye cream anymore. Your neck can use it. Give attention to your neck because if it aged, it will make you look at least 5 years older(I don’t remember the actual number but definitely more than 5 years) than your actual age!

Hopefully this post is useful you 😉

Happy 53rd Merdeka

Posted on August 31, 2010September 1, 2010 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Happy 53rd Merdeka

I’m sure many of you are enjoying the holiday even though it’s just one day. The weather is so good today. Great for outing. As for me, I think I’ve just wasted this wonderful day sitting in front of the computer composing this post, Facebooking, deleting spams and etc. Whatever… In fact, I’m supposed to be in Singapore now for holiday but due to some issues the plan had to be canceled.

Anyway, I realize that this year’s Merdeka celebration is very quiet, even the national celebration was done in the indoor stadium at Bukit Jalil instead of having it outdoor. Not only that, it seems like many Sarawakians and Sabahans aren’t really in the mood to celebrate it too, at least that’s what I notice in my Facebook. Almost all(the East Malaysians) said that they feel that it is not significant to them and all they care is the Malaysia Day on the 16th September. To them, they said that 31st August is the independence of Malaya(West Malaysia) and it’s not independence of Malaysia. Well… In a way, it’s logically and correct.

To me, without 31st August, there won’t be Malaysia. Without the independence of Malaya, there won’t be Malaysia. However, saying that 31st August is Malaysia’s independence day is not right. Malaysia was only formed on 16th September 1963 when Sabah and Sarawak joined the federation.

Until this day, I’m proud to be a Malaysian(especially a Sarawakian) despite all the shortcomings of the country. We are so much better than other countries, we are very lucky to be able to live peacefully and for you to able to be here and read this post, it is enough to be thankful of as you are not out there trying to scavenge for food, have no water or electricity, sleeping on the street and so on. We should be thankful for that. No doubt we complain about this and that but that’s just part of life, who doesn’t complain? Everyone has their own opinion on every single thing. We cannot deny that. Furthermore, you can afford to complain about the lousy broadband, the food served in some eateries being not nice, lousy customer service and so on unlike other countries which are war-torn and poor, those people don’t get the luxury of complaining about these petty stuffs.

However, I still don’t get the 1Malaysia thing, sorry. I’m too dumb to understand as we here have been living harmoniously together, at least for this part of Malaysia.

Muslims or non-Muslims sitting together in a non-halal open air market or coffee shop enjoying each other company and eating from the same plate, it’s not an issue.

Non-Muslim eating or drinking in front of the Muslims during fasting month, it is also never an issue. Of course, most will not do it in front of their Muslim friends out of respect but even if it’s done, it’s not an issue.

Muslims and non-Muslims sitting together in an eatery, one having mee goreng and another having kolomee(pork version) is not an issue too! So, 1Malaysia is in a way irrelevant to us(Sabahans and Sarawakians).

Besides that, I’m sure we all notice some fine prints stating “Valid in Malaysia. Inclusive of Sabah and Sarawak” or otherwise. *LOL* OK… Really *LOL* I’m speechless. 1Malaysia eh? Aren’t Sabah and Sarawak in Malaysia?

No matter what, that’s what happening around us, that’s parts and parcels of our lives here. There’s still a long way to go for Malaysia, there’s still a lot to learn and grow. It’s never easy.

At least I know I’m proud of my citizenship unlike some people that who are Malaysians but not living in Malaysia because they said that they see no hope and feel ashame with the country at the same time having the nerves to challenge or direct us Malaysians living in Malaysia to fight for our rights, calling us names and so on as if they are living above the rest yet they themselves take the easy way out by leaving the country.

Com’on, if you are so great and so concern of your home country, you should be here to fight for what you think is good and not talk cock and “directing” the people here to do whatever you think that should be done by hiding outside the country! Talk is cheap, anyone can talk. Can you do it? You can’t. Also, commented us for being stupid and so on. You sure have your rights of speech but I do no respect people like you and I’m sure other Malaysians won’t appreciate your 2 cents too. We don’t have to hear from cowards like you.

Just like what some people said, “kalau tidak suka, keluar!“, keluarlah you go… If you can afford it, then why not, right? If you can’t, how? You will have to fight for your survival here. For those that manage to keluar, you don’t have to look down on those who can’t afford to do it, you should salute them for having the guts to stay back unlike you, they are stronger than you are, they make the unfavourable situation works for them. No matter how fuck up their country is, it’s still home for them.

Lastly, hope all of you have a great holiday. It’s back to work again tomorrow.
