Lao Zhi Hao Bak Kut Teh & Bun Hock Kitchen

Posted on October 22, 2012October 22, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Lao Zhi Hao Bak Kut Teh & Bun Hock Kitchen

My firts meal in Kuching, lunch at Lao Zhi Hao Bak Kut Teh located near OneTJ.

Left: Dry bak kut teh (RM10 – small)
Right: The normal bak kut teh (RM10 – small)
Overall… Portion rather small, didn’t expect this small for small *LOL* Taste wise, it didn’t blow me away, just so-so.

The, few days later, we went to Bun Hock Kitchen at Song Thian Chiok Road located at the same section of Jade Pot Tea for dinner.

Left: Tomato crispy mee (RM5), the gravy is very sweet.
Middle: Oat chicken with Rice (RM5.50), was expeting it to have some sauce or something instead it was just dry. It’s pretty hard to eat. The more I ate, the sweeter it got. If the rice came with a bowl of soup, then it won’t be so hard to eat.
Right: Beancurd with minced meat with rice (RM5.50), hmmm… I tried a bit, the taste just didn’t register. I don’t know how to say *LOL*
My verdict? I won’t go back again. Presentation was a pity, food tasted below average. Really not my cup of tea. Well… Maybe it’s yours.

On the Way Home…

Posted on October 19, 2012October 19, 2012 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on On the Way Home…

After more than 1 1/2 year in Adelaide, finally I flew home last Monday evening. Arrived Kuching last Tuesday morning. Time for me to go back to Adelaide soon! Next Sunday! That’s just so crazy! Don’t even get to enjoy my holiday to the fullest.

On the plane, heading to Singapore. So glad that it’s not a full flight and I got the whole row for myself and it’s a window seat too! Was supposed to revise my IELTS reading but ended up watching 3 movies!

Dinner on board. I had panfried chicken in basil cream sauce, buttered vegetables, and roasted potatoes. As for dessert, we were served with ice cream.

Refreshment, it was some-kind-of pie. Can’t remember the exact name hahaha…

Arrived Singapore at 11pm and headed straight to Traders Hotel at Orchard Road to spend a night, only spent about 6 hours there as I need to get to the airport the next day before 8am and beat the traffic jam.

It was my very first time staying in such luxurious hotel. Thanks to someone who redeemed this room with his points for me. It’s a deluxe room with king-sized bed but it’s actually two beds combined. So couldn’t sleep in middle with the spacing there.

I stayed at the 11th floor. Nice swimming pool down there!

Bathroom with so many mirrors! Camwhored! Was rather tired.

There was a miscommunication between the staff and me when I check-in. I double-checked with her when she mentioned about breakfast as far as I know it’s not included. She might have thought that I have their VIP card and told me that the breakfast was included. That morning, I just simply went down to grab some bites and headed back to my room to get my stuff to check-out. Lo and behold! I was charged SGD30+ for the breakfast. -.-” Had to pay for it of course. The most expensive breakfast I had in my life! Oh well… It’s all right, treat it as staying there for only SGD30+/night instead of hundreds of dollars. I was also paying it with my Aussie card, at least not that bad.

On the way home! First time on SilkAir. Unfortunately, the flight was rather full. Luckily it’s not a long flight. The breakfast I had was char siew chicken wrap. Taste? Not my kind of tea LOL.

There you go… My journey home. Now, I’m leaving again soon! Too fast!

After 1 1/2 Year…

I’m back in Kuching for a very short holiday. I’m already back for a week. How time flies? I’m gonna fly out again next Sunday! Where did the time go?

Didn’t do much too… Most of the time stay home studying for IELTS which I will be sitting on 27th Oct and then fly out the next day! How crazy is that?

Here’s some views of Kuching from Pullman’s 21st floor taken on 16th Oct.

Still not used to the humidity and the heat. -.-” I still have some shopping that need to be done but can’t find the mood because of the test. Need to get my haircut too. Documents that I’m supposed to collect for skill assessment also not yet compile. In fact, haven’t make up my mind whether I should go for it or not. Sigh… I rather stay back if can’t apply for SA sponsorship.

Anyway, where did the time go?!?! Still so much to do. *SHUDDER*

Enjoy Spring and Summer with ASOS

Posted on October 15, 2012October 15, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Enjoy Spring and Summer with ASOS

So… It’s the middle of spring now in Australia but too bad I found out that I have hay fever. It sort of spoilt my spring for a bit. Then again, nothing can stop me from admiring the spring and summer collection from ASOS.

Now that I’m back in Malaysia, by the time I go back to Australia this month end, I think my hay fever shouldn’t be that bad anymore since spring is ending and summer on its way. Hopefully it will go away. Then, it’s time get the bikinis out or something to wear to the beach to enjoy the sea breeze and the sun. Gonna go crabbing too! Someone promised me to bring me crabbing, I’m looking forward to it and I’m gonna “crab” in style! Now… I wonder will the crabs “crab” me or not if I wear like this!

Not forgetting the sunnies! It’s important to protect your eyes. Which one suits me better? Help me decide 😉

As usual, most of you know that I’m nuts about shoes! Here’s some that I’m interested in getting my hands on. What’s more… Christmas and the holiday season are coming soon. We’ll have a sun shinny Christmas and there’s definitely parties/functions to attend, must not forget to stock up some dresses and shoes. I love dresses and shoes!

For my readers who are expecting, you are not left out! How great is that? I found some nice pieces too.

Go on and shop with ASOS and enjoy free shipping to Australia.

The Original Pancake Kitchen

Posted on October 12, 2012October 13, 2012 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on The Original Pancake Kitchen

I’m back in Kuching but not yet eaten any kolo mee or laksa ;p

Anyway, I have many pending posts from Adelaide. The Original Pancake Kitchen is so near my place but I’ve never been there until more than a year later hehehe… It’s located at 13 Gilbert Place at Hindley Street. It’s opened 24 hours a day.

Went there with my friends for supper. So far I’ve been there 3 times, almost one time a week. However, be warned that it will take a long time for your food to come and service can be bad (at least according to many people) but I’m lucky to have not meet any bad service from them.

Tried these two only even though I’ve been there 3 times.
Left: German Feast (AUD14.50), must be shared with another person unless you’re an extremely huge eater. Delectable German Kranski sausage, two fried eggs, bacon, girlled tomato accompanied with two buttermilk pancakes, whipped butter and maple syrup. I quite like this. Not bad.

Right: Brandied Apricots (AUD12.50 if not mistaken), two buttermilk pancakes topped with brandy soaked Apricots and finished with cream or ice cream . Had this with my German friend on her birthday. Extremely sweet! I don’t have sweet tooth so I’ll just try this once and that’s it. Must eat the apricot with the pancake. If you attempt to eat the apricot alone then it will be a bit hard to eat.

Since the portion is big, you can share and it won’t cost you too much. I’ll definitely go back there simply because it’s cheap and located near my place, and the food isn’t too bad.
