I Overheat My XPS M1530!

Posted on June 18, 2008June 18, 2008 By sweet surrender 17 Comments on I Overheat My XPS M1530!

I’m on XPS now!! Actually can use yesterday already πŸ˜› Only update now hahaha…

The tech support came to fix it at 11.30am-1.30pm, yesterday. He unscrewed everything and replaced the motherboard. There’s some scratches but not so bad, the deepest is the one near the XPS logo near the on/off button… Oh well… What to do? This design is different from normal laptop, it’s not easy to take out everything. Want to see the parts? πŸ˜› I took some photos when he dismantled everything, didn’t take all because I didn’t want to disturb him working *LOL* Just took some that were closer to me.

The “dead” motherboard.

One unknown part and DVD drive.

The scratch. Poor baby… *sob sob*

All photos taken with my phone πŸ˜›

The verdict!?!? OVERHEAT!!! WAH PIANG! For the first time I used a laptop until overheat! Motherboard replaced. I’m only using it for about 2 months and I heated it up so badly! πŸ˜› I guess I’m too hot for the laptop to handle *LOL*

I know this model heat up very fast from the reviews I read, I didn’t expect I could actually kill it in such short span of time. I still can’t believe what I did! Hahaha… I think I have to go out and hunt for a fan for it *LOL* Else we’ll be seeing another overheat episode from Sweet Surrender and I will become Dell’s regular customer for motherboard replacement, sure will get blacklist :P.

iCalvyn, you should extend your warranty πŸ˜› But since you didn’t then just have to make do of external keyboard -.-“

Ack! How do you overheat a laptop? I sometimes leave my laptop unattended for hours. I’ll be more cautious now.

  15. sweet surrender says:

Katherine-Lee, actually leaving it unattended in a well ventilated place is ok, the laptop is not working hard, just sit there and do nothing. I think for my case, the motherboard was already not in good condition when it’s out from the factory. As I compare the heat now and the previous heat, it’s not as hot as before anymore.

Sorry to hear that your laptop overheated. If you are gonna use it for a long time, then get a laptop cooler. Cheap and unbranded cost less than RM100 but I won’t bet on them to cool a few thousand dollars laptop. Get the branded one. I would recommend Cooler Master. You can easily get it at Saberkas. Should cost around or below RM150. Or you can shop online at modernopc.com. They will poslaju it to you. They has wide range of branded and reliable laptop cooler such as Cooler Master, Zalman, etc. You can always google for review of the cooler you are interested.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
