Everyday Minerals Foundation Swatches

Posted on October 19, 2008October 27, 2008 By sweet surrender 10 Comments on Everyday Minerals Foundation Swatches

I’m still in Penang and this is a scheduled post just like the previous posts. ;p

I managed to do a quick experimentation the other day. I haven’t fully use them yet except the concealer which I blended them with random foundation. We’ll talk about this on other days.

Here are the swatches in case you are interested.

(L-R)Golden Medium, Light Olive, Fawn
From the first batch. None of the colour suit me but it won’t be very obvious I guess if I have thin layer of them on my face except Fawn. I tested them on my forehead and the colour maintained as it is at the end of the day.

Here’s from the second batch:

(Left)Winged Buttered, Neutral, Olive Medium
(Right)Olive Medium(intensive), Neutral(intensive), Winged Buttered(semi matte)
I think I’ve found one very close to me, Neutral is the one! In the photo, it has tiny bit of yellow but in real life, I can’t see it! I think I got my colour already!

Lastly, the blusher I got. Salon Fun. I tested it on my eyelid as eyeshadow. Hmm… Not a very good idea for eyeshadow if you are using it alone because it looked like I got bruise(o che) on my eye ;p It looked ok in the photo but in real life, unless I’m dressing up for Halloween *LOL*

That’s all for the time being. I have to find a day to totally use them on my whole face.

Irene, thanks to you, I got myself some Everyday Minerals too…and I am in love with them!

Mineral makeups aren’t easy to put on, but they sure last! (I’ve to blot my face more often because these minerals seem to make my face oilier, which rarely happens with my other foundation). Anyway…

    Here’s what I got:

    Foundation:
    1. Winged Butter
    2. Olive Fair
    3. Golden Medium

    *All in Original Glo texture

    My verdict:
Olive Fair is a tad too fair for my face, so I mix it with Winged Butter and the result is great. I haven’t tried Golden Medium though. The foundation gives my face a healthy glow.

    Concealer:
    Abbott’s Perk Me Up

    My verdict:
Fabulous concealer! Needs some patience to dab it on, but once it’s done, it covers my dark circles wonderfully. I love it!

    Blusher:
    Wake Up Call

    *In Shimmer texture

    My verdict:
Gives me super rosy cheeks. Goes perfectly with my complexion. But must apply with a light hand, otherwise I look like a Chinese opera star! πŸ™‚ I didn’t try it on my eyes though.

Here’s the extras that I bought:

    1. Finishing Dust – I don’t see any difference using it.

    2. Pots and Pans eyeshadow – I use it as an eyebase. Leaves a natural pinkish glow.

    3. Cool Breeze eyeshadow – I sometimes use it on top of Pots and Pans to create a contour. Very natural looking.

    4. Eye Kabuki Brush – Very soft brush! The eyeshadow is applied evenly with this brush. I love it!

    5. Oval Concealer Brush – Again, very soft brush! Does a fantastic job helping me apply the concealer. I love it!

    6. Long Handled Kabuki – My favourite brush of all! The foundation is evenly spread with this super soft brush. It fans out on my face upon application, hence the even distribution of foundation on my face. I need to apply in circular motion though, otherwise the foundation will gather in one spot.

    Total damage = $ 37.30

(Unfortunately I only found out about the 5% discount AFTER I paid, boohoo!)

Overall, I’m satisfied with Everyday Minerals and I will definitely buy the full size once mine finishes. It does take slightly longer than usual to apply mineral makeup, but the effect is worth it.

Thanks for recommending it in your blog.

PS: How many times is a person entitled to the free samples anyway?

Lil’ Ms Pinky, you’re welcome, have to thank my friend for it, if not for her, I won’t know also. WOW! so detailed.

Using mineral makeup sure need more time than normal makeup. My face got quite oily too when I’m using it(spot testing) compare to the normal makeup.

I’m till trying to figure out the concealer thing, it seemed like the more I conceal the more obvious my dark circles are. Hmm…

I’m quite regret that I should have ordered some original glo, instead I only ordered semi matte and intensive and never put original glo into consideration.

As for the free sample thing ;p I don’t think there’s a limit at all hehehe…

kylee, I think they don’t ship to Malaysia anymore. My last order was last year and never order anything since then. In that case, you might have to try this site: http://lovingminerals.com/
They have EM too but there isn’t EM sample kit, other brand they have but it’s not as cheap as EM.

Thanks for this post – I’ve been thinking of trying Loving Minerals foundation but will think twice now since you mention it seems to make your skin more oily. I have a combination skin with an oily T-zone so I definitely don’t need the shine!

Also don’t have the patience πŸ™‚

KittyCat, u’re welcome. Over buff will make the skin oily. However, I still prefer the usual foundation coz it’s faster to apply than mineral’s. As for the oiliness, so long I don’t over buff, it’s not so oily.

dyzzy, in fact I’m not good in getting the suitable colour, it’s all trial and error. Don’t think I can help much. I had to order 2 times just to get the right shades.
