Turn Red Mini Zoo – Part 2

Posted on September 6, 2007September 6, 2007 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Turn Red Mini Zoo – Part 2

I’m not going to do your work anymore! Not worth it. Shoo… Go away… I don’t care about that few hundred Ringgit from you also. You are just making my life miserable. Don’t bother me anymore! Such lousy friend, only know how to take advantage of people.
Ah… Feel so good dissing people. This guy deserve it. You sucks!

To go into the zoo, you have to pay RM6 per adult for entrance. Children is RM3. At the entrance you are greeted with some aquariums.

Iguana, I almost didn’t notice it as its colour was the same as the ground. Gave me a shocked!
Various birds such as owls, parrots, eagles.
You see the deer? It’s a barking deer. I wonder it barks or not 😛

Left: Monkey! Your friends!
Right: The male and female turkeys. The two males were trying to court the female turkey. It was so funny, walking around trying it attract its attention and made some very “man” sound like “thump thump thump”. However, the female turkey seemed not moved at all.

Left: Bats.
Right: I forgot what are these called. They seemed to be fighting with each other on top of the platform on top of the tree!

Left: What kind of pig is this? It eats veggies and fruit.
Right: Ostrich, “she” was very elegent. Walked around with so much poise and confidence. Hahaha…

Left: These birds wer cool! They talked while you least expect it. Gave us a bit of shock when it suddenly said “hello”, “ni hao” -.-” They were not afraid of human at all. The tried to get close to us as close as they could. Even let us touch them.

Right: Another monkey friend of yours. 😛

Left: Peacock!
Right: No idea what bird is this. It just stayed ther minding its own business when we got close to take its photo. This was not caged, it could roam freely in the zoo unlike other birds.

Left: Horses.
Right: This hen was pretty fat -.-” When it walked, it’s a a very fat aunty walking in “seluar katak”(frog pants 😛 Don’t know what its called in English) hahaha…

Left: Rabbits. It was feeding time that time, you could request to feed them too. Then we saw a ale rabbit trying to make love with a female rabbit. It tired twice but the female rabbit was so “cold” *LOL* Then it gave up and went back to its “cave” to join other male rabbits.
Right: If you feel like want to do some “business”, they have a toilet there. Hehehe…

To be continued…

Turn Red Mini Zoo – Part 1

Posted on September 5, 2007September 5, 2007 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Turn Red Mini Zoo – Part 1

This is in Bau, not in Kuching, so I’m not grouping it under Uniquely Kuching. On 31st August, we made a last minute decision to go to visit a zoo. Called up many friends and too bad they already had their own plan already.

I’m not sure how to describe the direction to go there. Basically just go to Bau, then you will see the signboard below…

Take the left… The right is going to Sematan and Lundu.

Just drive straight up, don’t turn into Wind Cave on your right. Don’t turn right! Just drive straight up to Fairy Cave direction. See the magnificent mountain! Very nice! You don’t see this everyday for the city folks.

You will reach a junction with the yellow signboard, then turn right. You will reach the police check point. This is also the direction for you to go to Serikin, where the Indonesia border is.

Not long after that, pay attention to your left, you will see the signboard. This is where the mini zoo is located. You are now right below the rock mountain.

Left: We were greeted by huge and tall tree trunk. See how small I am 😛
Right: Well… Just normal tree 😛 You can only see my eyes there hahaha…

Some views of D’ Villagers(formerly known as Turn Red Restaurant). This is where you can sit and rest after hours of walking aroud. Enjoying the clean air and the nature around you. You can also order some drinks and food to savour there. This, I will cover in later part.

The middle is a huge rock pillar, pretty tall too just like the tree trunk above.

The time it took us to reach there was around 45 minutes-1 hour…

Kuching Aquarium

Posted on August 25, 2007August 25, 2007 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Kuching Aquarium

Did you know that Kuching has an aquarium? Hahaha… We do. It’s just behind Sarawak Museum. Nothing much actually. Just aquariums with fish and also you can see tortoise there too. I think there’s a crocodile there too, can’t remember 😛

The entrances.

Like I say, aquariums with various fish types.

Tortoise and fish.

What else I can say? It’s been there for decades! I remember when I was little my parents always brought me here to play.

Cat Museum

Posted on August 12, 2007August 11, 2007 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Cat Museum

Installed a new plugin for recent comments but I don’t like it. It’s stupid to display recent comments instead of the post titles like previous plugin but it’s not longer working anymore(don’t get it? Nvm…). Apparently my service provider block this code from running. Still in the process of looking for new plugin, will use this for the time being.

Finally… The long awaited post is here. Wuching, meet the Kucing(cat in Malay)! 😛

The Cat Museum is easy to locate. It’s above Bukit Siol or it’s in Kuching North City Hall. You won’t miss it if you are in Petra Jaya.

Admission is free. However, if you can donate, please do donate because the government is planning to charge entrance fee for our museums now. So to make sure you get free entrance in the future, make sure you donate if you can. I didn’t donate 😛

You have to pay for your camera/video camera if you planning to take photos or videos.

Let’s camwhore! 😛

Left: The preserved award winning cat.
Right: In these glass display units, you can see all kind of cats, mostly wild cats. Even preserved mouse hehehe…

Everything related to cats are display here.

They are all donated by cat lovers from all over the world such as Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, England…

More cat related collections.

By the way, the Cat Museum is the one and only museum that is dedicated to cats in this world.

Cat Cave. Hahaha… A cave filled with wild cats on the cave wall.

Left:The tomb for the cat. It’s real and dated 1907. It’s relocated to this museum.
Right: The silk screens are very nice.

Left: Cats in movie.
Right: You can buy souvenirs there.

Before leaving, you can sign the guestbook and donate to the museum. There’s a transparent box for you to put your money in.

It’s a place that you must visit. It’s not big but it could take up a lot of your time because there are so many interesting collections there. Too bad I can only show you some photos only, there are so many of them, I can’t possibly put all of them in -.-” Well… Maybe some other time, I edit them again and give you a part 2 of Cat Museum.

State Library

Posted on August 9, 2007August 10, 2007 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on State Library

It’s been ages I didn’t go to the State Library. In fact, I have no idea how to go 😛 Hahaha… The other day we brought our KL friends there, we just simply drove around and we managed to find the way *LOL*

Left: The State Library.
Right: Very smart architecture, glass staircase. So girls, if you are wearing skirts you are not allow to go up if you don’t want to show people everything under you hahaha… Many people like to take their wedding photos here. I hate it. It’s not nice at all.

Left: One of our friends is wearing sleevelss t-shirt, and she was asked to wear a coat. You must wear smartly there. No slippers too. This is the one and only photo of the library that I manage to take hehehe… I didn’t know camera is not allowed. It consists of two storeys, downstair is the children, activities and multimedia corner. The second floor is the library. They have a staircase in there for you to go up without using the glass staircase hahaha… They have elevator too which is not far from the glass staircase.

You cannot bring water into the library, you have to place it at the table next to the place where you leave your bag. They don’t allow you to put your water bottle in your bag because they are afraid that it might wet other people’s stuffs. We were afraid that our bottles might got mixed up as there aren’t any label for your bottle. You just place them on the table with other ppl’s bottles. -.-“

Right: The other side of the library. There’s a cafetaria there and a bookshop next to the library entrance.

I didn’t know we have self-checkout machine at our State Library hehehe.. I know… I know… I’m so suaku. I’m not a library person anyway, I’ve only been to library four times until now. One time I went to the one near Hopoh, then another one at Civic Center, then State library twice(both time for visit hahaha…).

Left: The lake outside the library. It’s a place for many people to hang out with their family in the evening or weekends. Some even fish there. I saw it before, years ago hahaha… It’s not a safe place at night, many rape cases happened here and it’s a place where people like to make some love here too.

Right: The ducks. Hehehe…

That’s all about our State Library. Don’t ask me how to go 😛 I have no idea how to explain to you. It’s near to the State Mosque too. I can only tell you it’s at Petra Jaya at the North part of Kuching.
