CatsCity Clique Report – Part 2 – Topspot

Posted on September 17, 2007June 26, 2022 By sweet surrender 23 Comments on CatsCity Clique Report – Part 2 – Topspot

YES! The drama is here! 😛

So… After Catscity Clique @ Starbucks Coffee @ KIA, we went to Topspot to meet up for dinner at around 7.30pm but most were late about half to one hour that including me :P. We were expecting less than 15 people going and later of the night, -.-” more came and all together, there were 19 of us+1 baby 😛 hahaha…

Since it’s a weekend, Topspot was packed! With the rain summore, we couldn’t sit outside and therefore it’s not easy to find empty tables. So I just asked PlatinumGirl to reserve any place that could fit at least 10 people that she could find.

She finally found 1 at ABC, stall No.10. See! So many people!

Frankly, I’m not familiar with Topspot, this is only my second time there and I have no idea how to order food there and what do’s and dont’s when you’re there(Irene! You called yourself Kuchingites!?!?!? *SMACK*). I don’t eat seafood in Kuching OK!?!?! I only eat at Buntal! 😛 Hence, this is how the drama happened! Good thing, I’m not the only got tricked! It just happened that I’m the one that made the final decision. So you can imagine how tulan I am!

Before that, let’s see what we ate… 😛 All together there were 5 dishes from ABC and each dish we ordered two plates as we have two tables.

Left: Belacan midin, when you come to Kuching or Sarawak, this is a must-eat and many non-locals seem to like it.
Right: Mixed veggies, quite standard.

Left: Butter prawn, the wet style, I preferred the dry one but this isn’t that bad.
Right: Lemon chicken, one plate was wiped off but another plate still left a lot. Everyone was so full!

Left: “Tek ham”, bamboo… I can’t remember the English name, it’s cooked with curry but many people don’t know how to eat this and dont’ like it. So only few of us finished it up.
Right: “O Jien” aka Oyster Omelette. This type is the crispy type, I prefer this type. The wet type is like the one I had at Kuching Festival.

Hehehe… I’m sure you are asking why no drama yet, right? It happened before the lemon chicken and so on arrived.

NOW! You see these “prawns”!!! Ok… Here’s how it went…

A guy came and asked us whether want to try “Special BBQ Prawn” or not. We’re not so sure we want to order or not but this doesn’t matter. He didn’t say that what kind of prawn was it and I swear I didn’t hear he said that it’s BIG prawn! None of us heard it too, we just heard “PRAWN”. OK… We did hear the “big” and “small” but this is for the portion but they didn’t mention that the prawn is that BIG! The length is more than 15cm! When he said “prawn”, we all thought that it should be about the size of like what we had for butter prawn or slightly bigger. So I said to him to give us the small one. The small one as is small portion of the BBQ prawn.

Then, since there were another group arrived, that guy came up and asked whether we want another set or not, of course we have to order another set to be fair to those came later. So, automatically said “YES”.

Then it came! We were shocked with what they served us! We didn’t expect to see this! Then he gave Josh the bill and OH MY… We were so shocked with the total! RM156 for 2.6kg of prawns! Damn expensive OK!?!?! We couldn’t believe that this was the prawn we ordered and the guy said, it was! We said we were not told about it and only told us it’s “prawn”! &@*!%!^@%#@% He said he did mention it’s big prawn and we all(almost 10 of us) swore that none of us heard it! BIG? MY FOOT! DIU! He did say in English, “prawn” but not “big prawn”, then repeated in Hokkien, “hay” but not “dua hay”! So you see? Then… What to do? Josh had to pay for it. -.-” We had to make sure we finished it clean clean… I don’t think this is called big prawn, I think it should have a name for it! He misled us! DAMN IT! We got conned!

Then I went home, I asked around and told Ben about it also and guess what?!!?! Everyone said that it’s overpriced! Even said that those are “scammers”, “cheaters”, “liars”,”conmen”! You should not order from those that came around to ask you to order those BBQ seafood unless it’s from the same stall! Now then I know and it’s an expensive lesson to learn -.-” Poor Josh had to fork out more money… We’re trying help him save money but that stupid prawn… I feel like burning the stall down! Hahaha…

Summore, I also realised that… Whenever I have seafood at Buntal, they will tell us the price of the seafood per kilo and order based on kilo or number of people. At least we were told about the price so that we can decide how much to order but not at ABC and also that blardy scammer, cheater, liar, conman BBQ stall! Too bad I don’t know which stall it is! However… Kuching is small, I’m sure many people will know which stall I’m talking about.

Bloggers, if you know which stall, do let me know! Damn it! I’m going to make them out of business! Not that I’m capable of doing that but when more bloggers talk about it, sure they will die. Try to mess with bloggers? You are stupid! I don’t think they even know that we’re bloggers! WEI! Almost 20 of them there! Then add on with those joined us in the afternoon… You’ll see how’s powerful the Internet is!

Ok… Enough of the drama… 😛 Bloggers… Take photos of food! See the guy on the right? That want to put down the prawn? DIU~

Group photo. Not complete group, we didn’t have any complete group photos as everyone seemed to be tired already and I know I didn’t want to move my butt at all, I’m so full and tired hehehe…

It was a SUCCESS! Thank you everyone! LOVE YOU ALL! MUAKS!

Corallium Cafe

Posted on September 15, 2007September 15, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Corallium Cafe

I never have chocolate fondue in my life 😛 Didn’t know Kuching have it also hahaha… Then my friend said a cafe here have it. So we went there to try it out.

It’s a fairly new cafe, located near the Waterfront. You know the temple, hmm how to say? At Jalan Wayang. You can easily spot it with that blue signboard at night.

The interior.

There is still more seats at the back where it’s lighted with blue lightings.
Can’t help it, there were so many mirrors and we started to camwhore but none of them turn out right. So hehehe… This is the only photo of mine that turned out OK. Hehehe… See the colour of the drink and my clothes. 😛

Left: Blood Orange (RM5.90), Blue Curacau (RM5.90). Just Sprite/soda+syrup. Felt so regret ordering these.
Right: The utensils for chocolate fondue.

Left: Ice cream for you to dip into the chocolate.
Right: Here it comes…

Fruits, cookies and marsmallows. I’d rather dipped the banana with ice cream than chocolate 😛 I’m not a fan of banana and the the taste of banana and chocolate just didn’t feel right for me hahaha…

The chocolate again…
You’ll be give a glass of ice water to wash away the sweetness.

That’s all! Spent RM26.70 for three, my sis didn’t order any drink. By the way, the chocolate fondue is only for 4 persons.

Tomoe Japanese Cuisine

Posted on September 14, 2007September 14, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Tomoe Japanese Cuisine

After Coffee Bean, we went to Tomoe Japanese Cuisine, someone said that he wanted to treat me some Japanese food. Hahaha… We also heard some good feedbacks from friends about this so we decided to try it out.

We were quite full after the drink at Coffee Bean. So we sat there and took very long time to decide what to order 😛

The menu and the drink. We had green tea, RM1 each, free flow but strangely when they billed us, they minus off one cup, supposed to be RM2 become RM1.

Since we’re not that hungry yet, we ordered Mixed Sushi – Regular (RM16). Hmm… It’s sushi to me and the sashimi tasted… ODD! Not very fresh I think…

After we’re done with the sushi. We ordered Yakiniku (RM14.80) that came with rice, soup, a slice of watermelon and a bird egg which I’m not in time to eat it and they cleaned the table -.-“.

Ordered another set called Zaru Soba (RM8), my first time had this. Hmm… Not bad 😛 The noodle is cold, they placed ice cubes below it, just dipped it into the bowl of “sauce”, just nice. I quite like it.

So that’s all for my birthday food post hahaha… Spent about RM50+ for two.

If you are wondering where is this located, it’s at Jalan Mendu. You know Cosway at Jalan Mendu? It’s the same row. Or International Tuition School? It’s at the row next to it.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf @ Plaza Walk

Posted on September 13, 2007September 13, 2007 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf @ Plaza Walk

Business is dirty… Oh ya… That’s how dirty it is! Oh~ la~ la~ Let’s get dirty with it!

Ok… This post is another post backdated, birthday post 😛 Hehehe… Remember I said that somebody sent me something in the middle of the night? I was “forced” to blog about by this reader of mine hehehe…

Left: I saw the white envelope of Metro Inn, I thought somebody was kind enough to give me free stay for my Miri trip this October. *SMACK HEAD* Who do you think you are, Irene?!?!? Even in your dream there won’t be anyone sponsors you any trip!
Right: It turned out that… TADA! RM30 worth of gift vouchers from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Hooray! This is one and only reason that made me go there. I have never been there before, believe it! Irene has never been to Coffee Bean! I don’t know… I never have to urge to go… Since somebody gave me this… Hehehe… THANKS! I must go, if not, it’ll be wasted. Only valid for 6 month.

I went the next day.

Ordered Belgium Chocolate (RM12) and Iced Blended Mocha (RM11.50). Hmm… The Belgium Chocolate OK la, at least not that sweet… Price wise for the overall drink, cheaper than Starbucks.

Goodness gracious! The cheesecake is RM8/piece! -.-” I’d rather go to Secret Recipe, cheaper, taste wise… I don’t know… I don’t want to spend RM8 for a cheesecake though I did not need to pay cash for it, only use the gift certificates 😛

After that day, I have one more certificate left. I went to spend it two days ago 😛 Bought a cup of Regular Pure Chocolate with it by adding few Ringgits. That’s it! I spent all! Thank you very much! You know who you are! Hehehe…

Satay House

Posted on September 11, 2007November 21, 2008 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Satay House

When talking about satay, most will think of the satay house at Satok area. The locals like me fondly known it as “satay house”, its real name is Hup Chen Hian Satay House. This should be the only satay house in Kuching.

This is where I had my birthday dinner with my family. This restaurant has decades of history I think because it’s here since I’m still a little girl. Many people will usually buy huge amount of satays from them for some functions or during festival seasons.

Left: Chinese tea.
Middle: The peanut, I like it. They will send to you without you asking for it and remember that this is charged into your bill. If you don’t want to be charged for it, ask them to take back. It’s not free flow. Don’t even dream of that hahaha…
Right: Just chilies and soy sauce.

Everyone goes there will surely order their satays else there is no point to dine there at all. However, the satays sometimes are good, sometimes are pretty tough. This is one of the places in Kuching where you can find pork satay hehehe… I’m not sure where else but here. If you need lots of pork satay, this is the only place you can get. Other places might not be able to supply you that much.

Left: Pork satay.
Middle: Rice, it will be charged per bowl.
Right: We ordered the set menu that cost RM35.80 for 4-5 people, this set came without pork but duck(will talk about the duck later). The soup you are seeing here is sea cucumber chicken soup. Pretty tasteless. It came in big bowl and they served them for us, hence the small bowl here.

There is another set that costs RM40.80, this comes with pork.

Left: “Balachan Cang Kong”, *LOL* it’s “belacan kangkong”!! My sis thought it’s something else so funny and turned out to be this!
Right: Sweet & Sour Fish Fillet hmmm… Quite sweet and the fish fillets looked more like chicken fillets hehehe…

Left: Boneless duck! See no bones but I ate bone! Small pieces of bones were found in there. This is what you call boneless duck! *LOL* very tough and it consisted of many powder instead of duck meat. The duck meat were very quite tough hmm… Two thumbs down for this.
Right: This is the wet towel. you’ll get charged for it too. If you don’t want, then tell them so that they won’t charge you for it.

Was so full! Too bad… the food wasn’t that nice but the satays of that night was tender and juicy. Spent around RM50+ for this dinner. Lost the receipt, so didn’t have the price breakdowns of the tea, the peanuts, the rice and the wet towel. As for the satay I think it’s 30cents or 40 cents per stick, can’t recall.
