Some Dishes from Bangkok Thai Restaurant

Posted on November 25, 2008November 25, 2008 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on Some Dishes from Bangkok Thai Restaurant

I’m trying to get my assignment done this week so that I don’t have to bother with it anymore.

Just to share some food photos with you from Bangkok Thai, the Thai restaurant just downstair of Lok Thian. I used to visit this place a lot when I was young. I LOVE their tom yam and the pineapple rice. In fact, I had my first pineapple rice here more than 10 years ago! OMG! I’m getting old!

Left: The tasty, yummy, delicious tom yam!
Right: Thai fried noodle. Hmm… Not so bad but not much to comment because I was so full already when I ate this.

Don’t ask me about the price ;p I have no idea. I did not pay for it.

Kado Cafe

Posted on November 22, 2008November 23, 2008 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Kado Cafe

12 Days of Silver Giveaway, QUICK! Who knows u might be that lucky, here you go http://tinyurl.com/6qyclp

It was silly, very silly.

Kado Cafe provided free refreshments on their soft opening few weeks back but somebody thought that it’s at Ang Cheng Ho all these while and went to Ang Cheng Ho to look for it. We scoured the whole Ang Cheng Ho and we saw nothing!

Later we found out that it’s actually at the last shoplot behind Public Bank(the one near Lok Thian) at Padungan, Jalan Chan Bee Kiew. You say silly or not? Missed the free refreshments ;p

Anyway, finally got chance to pay Kado Cafe a visit. It’s located upstair of a coffeeshop(don’t remember the name *LOL*).

The entrance, all the way up to the cafe. You’ll be greeted by bright colours wall and colourful decors.

Then, you’ll be greeted by the last brightness(the big jar and some fake plants). The brightness turns into darkness(not that dark but kinda dark for me ;p).

You will feel as if you are sitting somewhere outdoor or some street corner with street lights, fake plants and a water feature. At the same time, you’ll also feel like it’s indoor. Very confusing hahaha…

No air-con installed but lots of ceiling fans. It’s not hot at all, the windows were opened too. Wonder how if it rains heavily hmmm… I don’t see how the air can venitlate if the windows are closed with only the ceiling fans on.

The menus, separate menu for drinks and food.

Drinks, we ordered papaya juice and watermelon juice(RM3/each). No sugar added, pure fruit juice and wasn’t strained. We were given a shot glass with syrup in case we want our juice to be sweeter. To me, original is the best, no sugar added. However, it’s good too as people can adjust the sweetness as they like.

For snacks, we ordered chicken popcorn(RM8). When we saw the price, we were quite relunctant to order because it’s quite pricey. It’s more expensive or almost the same price as the appetizers or main courses but when it came, the portion could be considered big, so RM8 is quite OK. The chicken popcorn was sprinkled with lots of salt and black pepper. It tasted not so bad at first, then the more you eat the more salty it became. If they can just reduce the salt a bit then it would be better.

They serve western and some Chinese food. Price range can be consider in the lower medium range. Great place for hanging out. The place is actually quite spacious. One more thing, the toilet is spacious too! ;p

Will definitely go there again.

Patio for a Chit Chat

Posted on November 15, 2008November 21, 2008 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Patio for a Chit Chat

Went to Patio two weeks ago if not mistaken for a chit chat with a friend. Actually couldn’t decide where to go and thought of Patio as there’s 10% discount if using TrueCard to dine there, so off we went there, it’s near to my house also, why not?

Basically just to show you what we had that night. Nothing much.

The Calamari Ring that cost us RM8, not the type that I wanted.

Smoothie that cost RM5/each(introductory price). The white one is soursop and the yellow one is apricot. Not bad, very refreshing.

Oh ya, it’s located just opposite of Dewan Masyarakat MBKS.

So that’s all. Just quick update again, sigh… I need a break 🙁 Again…

Penang Day 5 – Part 2: Goodbye Penang

Posted on November 13, 2008October 11, 2013 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Penang Day 5 – Part 2: Goodbye Penang

After Gurney Plaza, our friends brought us to some place, not sure where and I forgot to take photos of the place ;p It should have since I’m the only one not buying anything and just waiting for them.

Anyway, after buying our friend brought us here… The famous cendol stall in Penang, Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendol + Ice Kacang. We didn’t order anything as was too full from the previous brunch. However, they did order this “che chao jui”(directly translate from Hokkien to English is green grass water, I guess ;p) I’m not sure how it tasted coz I didn’t drink any but according to my friend, it is very good to lower the heat in your body. This cup is RM0.80 if not mistaken.

After that, we went into this coffee shop called Joo Hooi Cafe, it’s just next to the stall I mentioned above. We were told that the Penang Assam Laksa here is also very famous but again we didn’t manage to eat it, too FULL ;p

One the way back to our car and one the way to the airport.

Since didn’t have the chance to take photos of the street of Penang because we were always in town when it’s dark.

Finally we’re at the airport.

After checking, we took some photos of the aquarium there.

More fish. The yellow fish caught my attention, it’s so bright.

The departure hall.

Some planes there. It was raining so heavily and our flight was late but we reached Kuching on time.

On the flight. Can’t really see the sunset as it was raining.

Finally, it’s the end of my Penang trip post. Hope you enjoy them.

Penang Day 5 – Part 1: Seoul Garden @ Gurney Plaza

Posted on November 11, 2008October 11, 2013 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Penang Day 5 – Part 1: Seoul Garden @ Gurney Plaza

Our friend told us to go to Gurney Plaza on the 5th day morning for breakfast or lunch which is also our last day in Penang. our flight was in the afternoon.

So we woke up in the morning, packed our stuffs and cleaned up the house. How can you not clean up when you are staying at people’s place for free and use their car for so many days right? After that, we still have time to rest for a while before heading out because there wont’ be many places opened the shopping malls in Penang before 11am.

Off we went to Gurney Plaza and looked for brunch. We came across Red Box and said why not we go to Red Box and sing until the time to go to airport *LOL* However we couldn’t because our friends were supposed to meet us there at around 1pm and bring us to buy some Penang’s specialties.

We walked around and ended up at Seoul Garden. It was a mutual agreement, we were attracted by the all you can eat buffet! Hehehe…

Here, we had our brunch. We asked for Kimchi soup but to our dissapointment, it’s sweet, not spicy at all.

However, they got lots of choices for you. We were so happy with it! The things they offered were of quite good quality. Even the free flow drink that cost us RM3.99 wasn’t diluted like what you got in Kuching where they add lots of ice. Here, they don’t do that, the drink is really original exactly like how you got from the tin with no ice.

The meat was well marinated, even the vegetables section offer things like green pepper too. LOVE IT!

The ready cooked food were also good and didn’t look “cheap”, the potato salad was tasty, the kimchi was sweet(dissapointed), the coleslow fresh, and the seafood were nicely marinated too.

So many choice and they were fresh, maybe because we were there in the morning ;p The dessert section was so colourful! There were so many ingredients there, cendol, jellies of different colours, gula Melaka, milk, lime, crushed peanuts, red beans, fruits, syrup etc.

I wonder why is the banana placed there along with the eggs and various type of dried ingredients?

They also got fries and how can you don’t have various type of “balls” for steamboat right? No food wasted is allowed of course.

YUMMY… YUMMY… YUM! Was fully stuffed! Stuffed to the max that it lasted me till dinner time.

We are going to almost the end of my Penang post. Finally… One last post tomorrow.
