Chilipeppers @ Jalan Nanas

Posted on February 11, 2010February 11, 2010 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Chilipeppers @ Jalan Nanas

Went to Chilipeppers at Jalan Nanas for lunch last month before heading to tHe Spring for Ju-On and body combat. Initially we wanted to go to Rumah Hijau but it was closed. Personally, I think the environment here is so much better than the one at Li Wah Hotel and the food also tasted better even though it’s not the best.

Signature French Toast with Peanut Butter & Honey(RM4). I think both are the same, my friend ordered it twice hahaha… Looked tasty don’t you think?

Left: Ayam Penyet(RM6.80), I love the veggies and the sambal.

Right: Black Pepper Steak(RM14.50), overcooked -.-”

Left: Pecal Lele(RM6.80), funny name right? This is actually deep fried catfish. The looked was pretty scary, my friend almost lost his appetite when he saw the head ;p He didn’t know what kind of food he ordered, he just wanted to try something that was new to him. Who knows… Scary looking catfish came to greet him!

Right: Up close to the head hahaha…

Thanks for lunch, you know who you are 😉 I ordered the most expensive food summore.

Pavilion & One Utama 7th January 2010

Posted on February 9, 2010February 22, 2010 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Pavilion & One Utama 7th January 2010

First stop in the morning was Pavilion.

It’s not very far from where we stayed. We just walked there. Spent quite a bit of time there as my parents were interested in the decorations selling there but they were too expensive to buy and no way to bring them back ;p We spent quite a lot of time at the food court too.

We decided to try Mr. Baoz! I knew about this place somewhere from the Internet more than a year ago(if not mistaken). Finally saw it here in Pavilion. Of course, we decided to try it out. There was promotion that time and we bought the promo set, 4 baby Mr. Baoz for RM1.70/each. Original price was RM1.80/each.

It’s really mini and cute! In fact it’s just your normal bao except it’s fancier and with lots of choices rather than the usually char siew or red bean. Frankly I don’t like bao but the bao from Mr. Baoz were just too cute to resist ;p

We had BBQ Chicken(from Royal Delicacy series), Winter Romance(from Chocolate Serise), Chicken Sate Baoz(from Royal Delicacy series), and Snowflake Taro Baoz(from snowflake series). I don’t quite remember what we had actually. I took the brochure so that I could refer when I do my post. Now… I notice that the actual Baoz doesn’t look the same as the Baoz in the brochure that’s why I can’t identify them *LOL*

How’s the taste? Hmmm… Well… Not so bad, something different but acceptable especially to my parents who prefer food that they are familiar with.

You can actually opt for the Baoz that is fried but we opt for the steamed ones. Why Mr. Baoz? I got these from the brochure:
– natural colouring
– less oil in the fillings
– can keep in freezer for 3 days and reheat with steamer/microwave
– texture is soft and healthy
– “double” filling, one on top, one in the bun
– presentable and nice packaging

After having Baoz, we ordered a bowl of Braised Beef Noodle(RM10.90) at Little Taiwan, one of the stalls there, to share. The taste was quite disappointing.

After that, we headed back to 41Berangan before heading to One Utama. In fact I was torn between One Utama and Mid Valley. At the end I decided to go to One Utama coz I thought I could get my CNY clothes there since I’ve been getting them there every time I’m in KL. Our taxi was to pick us up from 41Berangan using meter to One Utama, the fare was RM30.

In the end I regretted it coz I didn’t get anything there and we wasted most of our time getting lost inside the shopping mall hahaha… Should just go to Mid Valley, there’s more thing to see at Mid Valley or might just go to The Curve or IKEA.

There’s Old Chang Kee here. It’s a franchise from Singapore. Bought the curry puff to eat.

Photos taken from the One Utama. We ended up here when we tried to locate TGI Friday *LOL*

We tried to look for TGI Friday and got lost so many times, round and round, kept returning to the same place. We saw it from afar but couldn’t find our way to it. Silly, silly! We were all these while so near to it but never noticed it! -.-” Wasted so much time just looking for it.

Finally I got to dine here after so many years! We only ordered a set, it’s quite big in portion for us. Thought of ordering another but was full already. I definitely couldn’t finish it alone. Just having half the meat could make me full don’t even say the whole plate of food.

Left: Texas Ribeye and Cajun Fried Shrimp(RM54.90), generous 10 oz. Australian chilled air flown grain-fed ribeye topped with a fresh spicy tomato pico de gallo paired with crispy Cajun fried shrimp served with BBQ sauce, Cheedar mashed potatoes and grilled corn on the cob.

Initially I ordered medium rare but later asked them to change to 70% cooked as it was too bloody and my parents couldn’t accept it. I didn’t expect them to ask me to check when they serve it to us. Upon seeing my parents reactions, they offered to change a new one for us. They didn’t just took the meat and recook it instead it’s a whole new piece of meat. That’s good! I like that!

Seeing this now make me craving for it again -.-”

Right: Green Apple Slush(RM8.90), mixture of green apple and lemon-lime soda. Very huge glass, lucky we only ordered one.

After that, we called it a day and got a taxi back using meter for only RM25. It’s a good thing this taxi driver actually know his way once he saw the address unlike the one that we got at KL Sentral.

That’s all for the second day, spending most of the time getting lost ;p

Food Tasting @ Royal Oak

Posted on January 27, 2010January 27, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on Food Tasting @ Royal Oak

Just a quick update here 😉 One more hour before I close the contest of Ministry of Beats Vol. 1 Tickets Giveaway!

Invited by Shiok.org to the Lounge @ Royal Oak at Hills Shopping Mall somewhere last week for food tasting and also pre-MOB gathering for the bloggers and photographers.

While waiting for the rest to come, I took some photos of the place. Happened that there was a procession that night and many got stuck in the jam.

I quite like the bar, it’s all made of of bottles of Heineken and then lighted up.

Left: More bottles.

Right: The sofa at the second level.

Here you go… The food we had. I don’t have much information on them.

Cakes and cookies from Speaking Rose @ Royal Oak. Felt as if it’s Chinese New Year already! ;p They were all quite nice, not too sweet.

Satay, beef and lamb.

Left: Rib eye steak. Happened that I was craving for steak and red meat those few days and on that day so many of them in front of me! *salivating* I’ve never had my craving satisfied like this! I was having red meat continuously for days since I was in KL. You can imagine how unhealthy was my food intake that 2 weeks.

Right: Lamb rack.

Left: Lamb chop.

Right: Those who attended the food tasting and gathering. Stole the photo from annna.net ;p

See you there this Saturday for Ministry of Beats Vol. 1 !

New Year Lunch @ After 3

Posted on January 19, 2010January 20, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on New Year Lunch @ After 3

Long overdue post! ;p I forgot!!! Hehehe…

On 1st January 2010, I had lunch with some secondary ex-classmates at After 3. It was a last minute decision that we had made on the night of Ritta’s wedding dinner reception. Many didn’t turn up as it’s too last minute.

Our lunch, so you know how many turn up? ;p Plus one that only came for a drink. Do your math hahaha…

I hope I got the food names correctly, it’s been so long already.

Left: Noodle with Mushroom with Shredded Chicken(RM5).

Right: I ordered Butter Diced Chicken with Rice(RM6), I like it. It’s slightly spicy(but will be quite spicy for those that cannot tolerate spiciness), sweet, and buttery. I didn’t expect it to taste this good. I was only expecting the usual buttered chicken rice.

Left: Homemade Noodle Soup with Seafood(RM5).

Right: Ipoh “Hor Fun” Soup with Shredded Chicken(RM5).

The last time I was at After 3 with my family was a very disappointing experience. This time, it seemed like there’s huge improvement on the food. However, the service still wasn’t so good.

Genting Highlands 6th January 2010

Posted on January 16, 2010January 18, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on Genting Highlands 6th January 2010

Didn’t get a good night sleep, practically not sleeping at all for all of us. The fan speed couldn’t be controlled, even the slowest was still so fast. It dried up my nose and my nose got blocked until I couldn’t breath and I had to rushed to the bathroom to get the hot water from the tap to drink to ease my nose and wash my face. It’s a good thing the tap water can be drank so you get drinking water anytime you need be it hot or cold.

It was quite cold too. I couldn’t stand it and off the fan, the fan was pretty noisy. Once it’s off, it’s so quiet. At least I did get a few hours on and off sleep after that.

My dad did sleep for few hours until he woke up from having an itchy back then went back to sleep again. Easy! Just hear him snored(I could sleep even people next to me is snoring but I couldn’t sleep listening to the noise from the fan) and you will know he’s sleeping hahaha… My mom didn’t sleep much too, it’s too cold and she hated the blanket *LOL* She also woke up suddenly due to itchy back. Wonder why? Their bed got some bugs? *LOL*

I hated the blanket too. You know the brown rough kind. Anyway, our room was quite far away, had to take two lifts and walked a long way to reach but nice view.

Opened the door and greeted by this nice view and cold fresh air. Nice sunrise. Since we all couldn’t sleep, we woke up before 7am.

The cloud was down there, we’re up there! If you’re staying at First World Hotel, you’ll be inside the cloud.

Since the room was inclusive of breakfast for 2, so my mom and I went for it while my dad went to look for his own breakfast, he ended up having it at the casino coz got free flow Milo(he liked the Milo a lot while my mom and I liked the teh tarik) and food were cheaper than out there.

Happy Valley Seafood for our breakfast buffet.

The food variety were just right. Wanted to try everyone of them but my stomach wasn’t feeling very well when I’m half way eating *LOL* I hadn’t done my “big business” after I woke up.

We quickly had our breakfast and left hehehe…
