YES! The drama is here! 😛
So… After Catscity Clique @ Starbucks Coffee @ KIA, we went to Topspot to meet up for dinner at around 7.30pm but most were late about half to one hour that including me :P. We were expecting less than 15 people going and later of the night, -.-” more came and all together, there were 19 of us+1 baby 😛 hahaha…
Since it’s a weekend, Topspot was packed! With the rain summore, we couldn’t sit outside and therefore it’s not easy to find empty tables. So I just asked PlatinumGirl to reserve any place that could fit at least 10 people that she could find.
She finally found 1 at ABC, stall No.10. See! So many people!
Frankly, I’m not familiar with Topspot, this is only my second time there and I have no idea how to order food there and what do’s and dont’s when you’re there(Irene! You called yourself Kuchingites!?!?!? *SMACK*). I don’t eat seafood in Kuching OK!?!?! I only eat at Buntal! 😛 Hence, this is how the drama happened! Good thing, I’m not the only got tricked! It just happened that I’m the one that made the final decision. So you can imagine how tulan I am!
Before that, let’s see what we ate… 😛 All together there were 5 dishes from ABC and each dish we ordered two plates as we have two tables.
Left: Belacan midin, when you come to Kuching or Sarawak, this is a must-eat and many non-locals seem to like it.
Right: Mixed veggies, quite standard.
Left: Butter prawn, the wet style, I preferred the dry one but this isn’t that bad.
Right: Lemon chicken, one plate was wiped off but another plate still left a lot. Everyone was so full!
Left: “Tek ham”, bamboo… I can’t remember the English name, it’s cooked with curry but many people don’t know how to eat this and dont’ like it. So only few of us finished it up.
Right: “O Jien” aka Oyster Omelette. This type is the crispy type, I prefer this type. The wet type is like the one I had at Kuching Festival.
Hehehe… I’m sure you are asking why no drama yet, right? It happened before the lemon chicken and so on arrived.
NOW! You see these “prawns”!!! Ok… Here’s how it went…
A guy came and asked us whether want to try “Special BBQ Prawn” or not. We’re not so sure we want to order or not but this doesn’t matter. He didn’t say that what kind of prawn was it and I swear I didn’t hear he said that it’s BIG prawn! None of us heard it too, we just heard “PRAWN”. OK… We did hear the “big” and “small” but this is for the portion but they didn’t mention that the prawn is that BIG! The length is more than 15cm! When he said “prawn”, we all thought that it should be about the size of like what we had for butter prawn or slightly bigger. So I said to him to give us the small one. The small one as is small portion of the BBQ prawn.
Then, since there were another group arrived, that guy came up and asked whether we want another set or not, of course we have to order another set to be fair to those came later. So, automatically said “YES”.
Then it came! We were shocked with what they served us! We didn’t expect to see this! Then he gave Josh the bill and OH MY… We were so shocked with the total! RM156 for 2.6kg of prawns! Damn expensive OK!?!?! We couldn’t believe that this was the prawn we ordered and the guy said, it was! We said we were not told about it and only told us it’s “prawn”! &@*!%!^@%#@% He said he did mention it’s big prawn and we all(almost 10 of us) swore that none of us heard it! BIG? MY FOOT! DIU! He did say in English, “prawn” but not “big prawn”, then repeated in Hokkien, “hay” but not “dua hay”! So you see? Then… What to do? Josh had to pay for it. -.-” We had to make sure we finished it clean clean… I don’t think this is called big prawn, I think it should have a name for it! He misled us! DAMN IT! We got conned!
Then I went home, I asked around and told Ben about it also and guess what?!!?! Everyone said that it’s overpriced! Even said that those are “scammers”, “cheaters”, “liars”,”conmen”! You should not order from those that came around to ask you to order those BBQ seafood unless it’s from the same stall! Now then I know and it’s an expensive lesson to learn -.-” Poor Josh had to fork out more money… We’re trying help him save money but that stupid prawn… I feel like burning the stall down! Hahaha…
Summore, I also realised that… Whenever I have seafood at Buntal, they will tell us the price of the seafood per kilo and order based on kilo or number of people. At least we were told about the price so that we can decide how much to order but not at ABC and also that blardy scammer, cheater, liar, conman BBQ stall! Too bad I don’t know which stall it is! However… Kuching is small, I’m sure many people will know which stall I’m talking about.
Bloggers, if you know which stall, do let me know! Damn it! I’m going to make them out of business! Not that I’m capable of doing that but when more bloggers talk about it, sure they will die. Try to mess with bloggers? You are stupid! I don’t think they even know that we’re bloggers! WEI! Almost 20 of them there! Then add on with those joined us in the afternoon… You’ll see how’s powerful the Internet is!
Ok… Enough of the drama… 😛 Bloggers… Take photos of food! See the guy on the right? That want to put down the prawn? DIU~
Group photo. Not complete group, we didn’t have any complete group photos as everyone seemed to be tired already and I know I didn’t want to move my butt at all, I’m so full and tired hehehe…
It was a SUCCESS! Thank you everyone! LOVE YOU ALL! MUAKS!
I never want to order the Peng Hu when he comes to us… Cos I see his face already like penipu face.. “ai peng hu mai?”.. and our answer will always be “mai.. kamsiah”..

hey irene,
You are not alone, I seldom eat at topspot as well, could not even remember the last time i had been there, must have been when I was a kid.
You guys were in such a bad luck. But hey, I am sure similar things have happened to many people before. It is only time when that conmen/liar/jerk/monster will learn a painful lesson from people not as nice as us bloggers.
Thanks for this entry irene, it does serve as a reminder to be more careful in ordering our dishes.
*faint*
@_@
Robin, I’m sure we are not the only one… Must becareful when you order food at this place.
