SUPP Convention

Posted on January 20, 2011January 21, 2011 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on SUPP Convention

I’m not talking politics here and I won’t entertain any political comments in this post also(I’m likely to delete them) because it’s always the same thing over and over again, you no need say I already what you want to say. You know, I know, we all know. It’s nothing new anyway. This is not a heavy topic too, I’m just sharing my experience.

Attended SUPP Convention at BCCK last Sunday. Let’s just say I was there for the sake of being there or whatever you called it hahaha…

This is the largest event I had ever attended. They said that they targeted 5000 people but 6000 turned up. Really that many or not, I’m not sure. Everyone was wearing the same t-shirt, so many people, what a scene! I was seated up-stair. When lunch break, it’s really hard to move! The lifts were full and many people going down using the staircases and escalators. A sea of people in red and yellow t-shirt. *gulp*

What you see here is just a portion of those attended. Was there at 7.30am.

Most importantly, our PM was there. That’s the only reason I’m interested *LOL* Never see PM in-person, only on TV all these while. I’m so sakai. Anyway, I’m not his fan, he’s just Malaysia PM to me. Both PM and CM were scheduled to reach there at 9.45am but they only turned up at around 10.30am. PM was supposed to go to another event at Sungai Tapang at 10am and that side had to delay the programme to 12 something.

Firstly, it was DCM (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hong Nam) who gave his speech, asking for allocation and talking about how Sarawak had contributed to the country. Also, not to forget, he congratulated and shared the joy of CM (Pehin Sri Dr. Abdul Taib) who recently got a new wife and the wedding reception was on Saturday night at DUN which caused everyone to laugh(either it’s sincere laugh or sinister laugh from the audiences, it’s up to you to think which one was it LOL).

Secondly, it was CM (Pehin Sri Dr. Abdul Taib) who gave his speech. I don’t remember what he talked about, was busy entertaining myself ;p

Lastly, it was PM’s (Dato’ Sri Najib Razak) turn. No specific amount of allocation promised but it sounded something like this(not exact), “I only want winners. George, I only want people who can win. I don’t care who they are. As long that you all do your job and win, I will give what you need.” Obviously many people were disappointed because there’s no promise of monetary allocation to the party. What do you expect?!?! Lost so many seats, almost all, you think he was happy with it? PM is not stupid, he calculates gao gao one. Besides that, not to forgot he did mention few times about our CM new relationship status which again caused everyone to laugh. PM was there at CM’s wedding reception on Saturday too.

Left: From the projector. CM and PM after PM made his speech waiting to officiate the convention and receiving souvenirs from both CM and DCM.

Right: After officiating the convention, it was almost 1pm. He left for the next function. This is the closest I could get from my camera. Many photographers/reporters were up-stair with me and they shouted, “PM, look up! Up here!”. Then, PM looked up, they snapped, snapped, snapped as many as they could. I didn’t manage to get the shot because of my setting hahaha… DCM was behind PM.

Basically, that’s the summary of the convention. What an experience.

Gathering of the Tribes 2011

Posted on January 18, 2011January 18, 2011 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on Gathering of the Tribes 2011

Gathering of the Tribes 2011, a tribal and tattoo expo was held at BCCK last weekend. I got the pass to the opening ceremony. Thought the ceremony was on the stage but we were so wrong LOL… It’s in the middle of the hall. The opening ceremony was conducted differently from the usual event opening ceremony.

Here’s the video. Upacara Miring to mark the opening of the event, I took the video to share with you. It’s easier this way than having me writing about it.

Initially I thought this event was related to the tribes of Borneo where you could see and learn about the cultures of the tribes, something like a visit to the cultural village. When I got in, I was confused after seeing tattoo booths from the beginning to the end. Only then it dawned on me that it was about tattoos of tribes from all over the world, it’s not about the tribes of Borneo, if you get what I mean.

You can even get your tattoo done on the spot. It’s weird to know that some people are so afraid of injection yet not afraid of getting inked -.-” Injection just one time only and it’s over but it’s not the case in getting the tattoo. Hmmm… I don’t understand hahaha…

Left: Some handicrafts from Sarawak.

Right: Some information on tattoos around the world.

The host of Tattoo Hunter, Lars Krutak, was there too but I didn’t know. Watched the Tattoo Hunter half way and I left. I’m not a fan of tattoo and never will be one, really not my thing but the series was very interesting to watch and informative.

The event was a 3-day event, did you go?

My First Private Hospital Experience

Posted on January 17, 2011January 17, 2011 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on My First Private Hospital Experience

First of all, I’m only referring this one particular hospital, not others. I’m not rich people, I only go to government hospital or clinic for the services all my life. I only need to pay RM1 and everything would be done nicely for me, very efficiently and don’t waste a lot of my time. Even though the results might take 2 weeks, at least I didn’t have to be tortured by having to wait for one whole morning risking being forgotten and so on. Then again, as if I always go to such places, I don’t, only once in a blue moon but those around me do. The fact is that I hate hospital/clinic especially the atmosphere, I will try to avoid ;p So… Those who asked me to do nursing, it is not my thing, freak the hell out of me.

Today… My very first time using the service of a private hospital in Kuching. I have to… Cannot avoid, it’s part of the requirement. I cannot go other place for it. Sigh…

This is the earliest private hospital in Kuching and many VVIPs like it here, go figure! I tell you hoh… Private hospital should have good service and systematic work process. Patients are paying arm and leg for 5-star service. That’s everyone expectations for sure. Poor people like me cannot afford la… Can go to Sarawak General Hospital(SGH) or polyclinic is good enough already.

Before I start, I need to stress that I’m not targeting the doctors or nurses or receptionists and so on but the moronic system that causes them to work inefficiently.

WTF 1: Called to ask them should I make appointment, they told me that I didn’t have to, I just go will do. Went on Friday afternoon and was sent home because they no longer take patients. They suggested I make appointment so my next visit will be guaranteed. Fine!

WTF 2: There’s no queue management system(QMS) at the clinic in the hospital! Goodness! The nurses had to come out call numbers/names. This is a private hospital with exorbitant charges ok?!?! You don’t have the QMS? Unbelievable! Pity the nurses had to walk in and out all the time shouting out numbers and many times many didn’t listen to it or too noisy. If they have QMS, people can just look at the number on screen and know where to go just like how you do it in the bank, government clinics/hospitals, or other service centers. Also, they can use that time going in and out shouting to organize their tasks or something. FAIL big time! Don’t tell me you cannot afford such system.

WTF 3: If at SGH, if you wait for more than 30 minutes, you can complain but here… I have no idea can or not. So many numbers called, mine never came. Those came later than me all left already! My dad went to the reception counter to ask, they asked my dad to go to ask the nurse. Apparently, they didn’t see my file! They found out my queue number and frantically dig for it from piles of files and documents and found it. Then they promised the next one would be my turn. If my dad didn’t ask, I think I’d be waiting there the whole morning. I don’t think it would ever reach me even in the afternoon. Even with the appointment, there’s no use also.

Not sick also could become sick due to long wait and anger! I wonder whether my blood pressure shoot up or not that time when I was having my blood pressure checked. Finally, it’s my turn, the nurse apologized. I couldn’t blame her really, it’s the problem with the work/document flow. The nurses seemed to be overwhelmed by those responsibilities which can be given to other people to handle rather than doing everything themselves until things became so confusing and disorganized. Whoever was the one came out with such system makes me doubt their capability. The area where the nurses prepare the patients for the doctor was a chaos. At one point, I’m so worry that they might misplace or forget my bottle of urine in the container. I’m so worry that they might forget to submit my report to the relevant authority.

WTF 4: Payment counter has QMS but not the clinic! WOW! This is a very simple message, “we want your money only so we have better queue system here but we don’t care whether you get your turn to see the doctor or not there”.

WTF 5: The nurse led me to the x-ray room. She told me that once I’m done with it, I could just go back to the clinic and inform any nurse to charge me. This thing should be given to someone else to do and going back to simply tell any nurse to get the amount I need to pay seems disorganized. The nurses sure had a lot to do from preparing patients to giving them the bill and lead them to the counter to pay. They even asked each other where’s my bill and looking here and there on the table. A private hospital without a proper automation system to handle all these things is just weird. Where’s the quality? Hmmm… They should learn from SGH. So efficient even though the number of patients is crazily many. I doubt those people actually learn or plan at the end users point of views, they just sit in the office and plan based on their so-called ideals and implement it.

WTF 6: After I paid, I asked the counter people where to get a copy of my test results, she told me to go back to the clinic and ask the reception counter. I went up, they told me to talk to the nurse at the prep area/nurse station(whatever it’s called) because it’s the nurse’s job. Hmm… Everything, the nurse, the nurse, the nurse. Shouldn’t there be a place to collect a report without burdening the nurse? Or at least such queries should be able to be answered by the people at the reception counter. I really pitied the nurses there. They were so overwhelmed with all their work and have to entertain patients queries at a place where the public shouldn’t be allowed to budge in and out disrupting their work flow.

That’s my overall experience and observation of the place. Not a good one. I’m paying almost RM200 for the medical check, getting disappointing service and watching how disorganized they are. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out -.-” at least have the QMS installed and you will be a bit more efficient!

For people like me, that is a lot of money to pay and I’m expecting at least better service than the government ones but it’s otherwise. I could get much better service with RM1 at government polyclinic but too bad I couldn’t do it there.

However, I believe they all tried their best to provide their best service and attitude. It’s just the moronic process that made everyone life so difficult.

P/S: Supposed to blog about the events last weekend but will do this post first, need to get it out of my system, piss the hell out of me!

Firefly Inaugural Flight to Kuching

Posted on January 15, 2011January 15, 2011 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Firefly Inaugural Flight to Kuching

“Kamek Nait Belon Firefly” (I got on Firefly Flight in Bahasa Sarawak). Too bad… I did not, I welcomed it only. Those lucky ones from Kuching were given free flight to KL and tour for 3 days! I WANT!!! ;p It took off just now during the press conference. After all the members of digital and print media, guests, and celebrities from West Malaysia landed, not long later those from Kuching took off to KL.

Welcoming the plane in Kuching International Airport, FY602 from KL to Kuching. This is Firefly new Boeing 737-800. There’s 4 flights daily (now only 2, 2 more will be added on 24/1/2011). They promise to provide you with the lowest price but frankly… I couldn’t seem to find any cheap flight since last year till now. Maybe I just don’t have the luck.

Left: Water starting to spray. The first commercial flight arriving at Kuching International Airport to receive the traditional aviation industry welcome, a water spraying guard-of-honour, upon touchdown.

Right: Parking. You get to use the aerobridge, no need to brace the sun or rain.

Left: Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hong Nam was there to welcome the first flight in.

Right: The stewardesses of Firefly. I didn’t get to go into the plane, too many people, so packed. Don’t think there’s much difference in it. It’s new and with leather seats that’s all. I should just go into the cockpit to have pictures with the pilots LOL(*blek* I just have a thing for pilots, blame my history hahaha…) but I didn’t even manage to squeeze beyond the aircraft door.

Left: The uniforms.

Right: Press conference and Q&A session.

There’ll be cocktail reception tonight, should I go?

Singapore Trip 29/12/2010-1/1/2011 – Part 6

Posted on January 13, 2011September 12, 2013 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Singapore Trip 29/12/2010-1/1/2011 – Part 6

Now, heading to the casino. My bro couldn’t go in because he’s below 21. So he and mum walked around outside while dad and I went in.

So many people! The crowd was almost like this everywhere in Singapore tourist attractions.

Left: The car outside the casino. No camera allowed. No photos to share but it’s colourful inside and there’s many magnificent and colourful glass sculptures. Went in there to see see look look and drank the free drinks ;p It’s divided into smoking and non-smoking zone and we noticed that only tea, plain water, and coffee available at non-smoking zone while there were so many choices of drinks at the non-smoking zone. Hmm…

Right: After came out from the casino, we waited for my bro and mom as we had promised to meet out here. Who knows… We waited and waited for at least half hour and didn’t see them. I tried to call my bro and just realized that his usual SIM card was with me and I didn’t have another number of his! -.-” Rather than waiting, I told my dad I wanted to walk to the end of building since I had not gone tru’ the place while he waited there just in case but he followed me. So we walked, walked, walked and found them sitting at the end of the building waiting for us. GOSH! If I didn’t suggest to walk to the end, we would be waiting for each other at two different ends for don’t know how long. The case of miscommunication.

Lake of Dreams, the overview of the water feature that I had mentioned in previous post where there were 3 launchers to activate the water feature.

Left: A sculptures found at Sentosa FestiveWalk.

Right: Walked into the building from FestiveWalk, it’s these. Adam and Eve. Cute ;p They didn’t wear a thing.

Left: This side, all branded stuffs. Jimmy Choo, Valentino, Coach and more… In fact, there’s Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future exhibition happening that time but need entrance fee(SGD12) and I doubt no one was interested so I didn’t bother mention about visiting it. However, there’s complimentary guided tours on every Wednesday night and Sunday morning. Limited to 20 people per session. It’s OK… I’m lucky enough to see it on Facebook as someone posted it so I now know what’s in there, camera allowed but no flash can be used.

Right: I’m not sure what was this but you can enjoy the animation(the arc is where the animation can be seen) and sound of nature and soft music while you go down the escalator.

Left: Going back up…

Right: One of the animations.

I don’t remember which hotel was this. There’s 6 hotels there. I think this should be Festive Hotel.

That’s the end of Sentosa from me to you but day 2 not ended yet ;p
