One Life & Cooking Demo @ tHe Spring

Posted on May 4, 2008May 3, 2008 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on One Life & Cooking Demo @ tHe Spring

It’s still not too late to catch these two events at tHe Spring today. I didn’t have time to go and only managed to go there yesterday to take some photos for the sake of blogging *LOL* Couldn’t stay too long there to see what One Life has to offer as we need to go to another place to meet some friends. Maybe will go later today again? We’ll see how.

One Life is brought to you by World Vision. I knew about this organisation ever since I’m in secondary school but never participate in any of its event. I went to Miri last year in conjunction of Femine 30, I didn’t participate hehehe… I just took the opportunity to go there with my friend and explore(sort of explore) Miri on my own as my friend was there to participate.

‘One Life Revolution’ exhibition is an interactive exhibition that allows visitors to walk in the shoes of children who endure extraordinary hardships because of AIDS/HIV and trafficking. There was long queue to get into the exhibition hall. Before you go in, you will be given an earphone and you will explore the “room” with it to experience the whole thing.

Hopefully this will inspire you and help you learn how you can help transform a life. You can buy some items there such as flip-flops or t-shirts. Did you know you can sponsor a child with only RM50 per month? If you would like to know more, you can visit World Vision at http://www.worldvision.com.my

At the same time, there’s Cooking Demonstrations by Ta Kiong.

When we were there, they were having Japanese food preparation demo. Today is the last day. For day time, the cooking demos are only open to those that had registered and paid for it, you got to try them out with your own hands guided by the chefs. In the evening, it’s free for all.

Today is the last day. If you don’t want to miss them, go now!

Ten Ichi May Promotion

Posted on May 3, 2008May 21, 2008 By sweet surrender 10 Comments on Ten Ichi May Promotion

It’s been a while not visiting Ten Ichi for their Japanese food. Can I say that this is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Kuching? In fact, you can count how many Japanese restaurant in Kuching with your fingers. Did you know that many Japanese restaurants here actually get their stock from them?

Many people didn’t want to go there thinking that it’s very expensive, in fact it’s not if you study the menu carefully and compare it with other places. The portions are bigger and the ingredients are fresh.

They have 3 rooms there if not mistaken. This is one of them.

Left: I so love these lights! I took some photos of them and even made it my desktop wallpaper hehehe…
Right: The biggest room that can fit hmm… between 10-20 people.

Turnip sheets and carrot sheets(not quite sure what they are actually, I’m just guessing because I didn’t really pay attention to it :P), very thinly sliced, we thought it’s some popiah skin but it’s not. Not easy to master this skill. It’s chopped so finely too.

The ingredients for Japanese food.

Let’s see what they will introduce in May:

Sansyouku Temaki(RM9.90), this is what you see and what you will get(salmon+mayo, fish roes, unagi), it’s cheaper than what you get at you-know-where. Every ingredient is carefully roll in there. I personally like temaki a lot hehehe… All the ingredients are fully stuffed, no spacing inside at all! Quite worth it. Temaki lovers will like this very much.

This is Karei Torikatsu Ramen or Japanese Curry Noodle(RM9.90), Oh My Sweetness! The portion is so huge! Only RM9.90, the noodle is handmade from the kitchen not instant noodle. You can share this with at least 2 or 3 friends. There were 5 of us sharing this bowl of noodle, so full!

Please be awared that the above are only available every Thursday and Sunday only.

The followings are May promotions:

Dragon Maki Set(RM16.90), can you see the dragon? The portion is so big. You see the top? All the ingredients? They are all not cheap stuff, avocado summore! Frankly, this is my first time eating avocado hehehe…

Torimiso Set or Grilled Miso Chicken Set(RM11.90). I’m sure you will be full with this set too.

FYI, the side dish is subject to change. They won’t give you the same side dish everyday.

Let me teach you how to save money there. All the dishes I showed you are pretty big in portion and these are exactly what you will get when you order them, you can order like 2 or 3 out of the 4 dishes that you see here and share among 3 persons. By only spending a fraction of price compare to many places, you are going to be fully stuffed!

After Three

Posted on May 2, 2008May 1, 2008 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on After Three

This is one of the latest addition of food outlet in Kuching. It’s owned by the same company as The Banquet. Before that, After Three was known as Banquet Express but later it’s changed to After Three. I have no idea why After Three as they open for business from 7am-10pm, it’s not open for business after 3. Hahaha…

Where it’s located? Hmm… Opposite HSBC? Opposite Shell? Next block to RHB bank? *LOL* All can use 😛 Before you reach the cat statue coming from Pending direction.

The interior and the menu. The inside is of course a non-smoking area.

If you want to smoke, then you can sit outside. Even the clock(on the left picture) is so unique.

Left: The fountain in front of the shop.
Right: Drinks, Tea C(RM1.40) and Wheat Grass(RM1.20)

Left: Snacks, Crispy Beancurd Roll(RM3). Only 3 rolls but each roll has whole prawn in there. If I’m not mistaken, I ate about 4-5 prawns in total in these 3 rolls. Mind you, not half of the prawn but full prawn. I thought the skin would be salty but it’s tasteless. It’s crispy, the inside is juicy and more on the sweeter note. The price is not so bad. Only available from 3-6pm.

Right: Cantonese Fried Rice in Basket(RM5), not sure how it tastes though. Portion is quite OK.

Price wise, not so bad for an air-conditioned place. It’s pretty standard and cheaper than some places. Just that the food served was quite slow…

Dinner @ Coo Coo Ron’s Cafe

Posted on May 1, 2008May 1, 2008 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Dinner @ Coo Coo Ron’s Cafe

Went to Coo Coo Ron’s Cafe with some friends two nights ago. It’s been a while not seeing them. I went to Coo Coo Ron’s before and the menu was different back then. Less choice of food now. We had a bit of difficulty ordering and many were out of stock.

Our drinks:
Earl Grey(RM2.50), Strawberry Tea(RM2.50), don’t-remember-what-tea(RM2.50), Homemade Ginger Ale(RM3.50), Mint Milkshake(RM6)

Homemade Samosa(RM6.50), hmm… It has vegetables in there and a bit of cheese.

Left: Potato Wedges(RM5), it’s just wedges, nothing to rave about.
Right: Fish & Chips(RM9), hmm… everyone said that the fish tasted odd, to me I think it isn’t odd, I think they did marinate it with ginger or something. Most importantly not oily.

Mix Grill Meaty Combo(RM35), very huge portion, you definitely will have problem finishing it alone. It’s better to share it with 2 or 3 friends. Let’s see what they have there, two chicken wings, chicken chop, beef steak, lamb chop, and garlic bread. The black sauce in the middle, it’s their own in-house specialty sauce and everyone seemed to like the sauce a lot compare to the meats hahaha…

We splited the cost. We shared everything we ordered. Not to forgot Jimmy, Tim and Ting went to the back to scribble on the wall to leave their mark there *LOL* Eve didn’t join. I went to wash my hands and scribbled “irenelaw.com” there 😛

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
