Screwed My Second Interview

Posted on October 24, 2009November 3, 2009 By sweet surrender 15 Comments on Screwed My Second Interview

Remember I mentioned about being shortlisted for tHe Spring Ambassador Hunt?

So today is the day… I woke up, got myself prepared, reminded myself on what to say during the interview, reached there, got a script, tried to memorize it, chit chatted with the other shortlisted contestants while waiting for my turn and I turned out to be the second one to go in coz I’m the second person to reach there.

The script was so short, easy and simple, it’s a piece of cake! I used to memorize stuff longer than this.

Talking in front of the camera was nothing to me. For those that follow my blog long enough will know that I did quite a number of video projects with my friends few years back, even did the filming in public places with tonnes of complete strangers looking at me, you can find the videos in my blog, related to Borneo Highlands and Kuching Festival. Links are available in the comment section.

Today, there were only a handful yet I was so nervous -.-”

Talking in public was fine with me, as long that I’m well-prepared but…

I screwed up big time in this second interview. -.-” I forgot my lines. I requested to redo 3 times or so(if I’m not mistaken). In fact, I could just use my own words but some how my mind was blank… BLANK! Ish… Ish… Ish… The judges were kind enough to let me refer to my script. It wasn’t very smooth too, I was too nervous! At least I managed to complete the key points. However, the last sentence that I made up myself was a bit odd due the the word usage because I suddenly couldn’t think of the appropriate word or sentence structure that I should use. Told you… I was so blank.

Then, I’m asked to do it in Mandarin. I thought I can do it, I asked the judges to give me time to phrase my words but… ARG! I forgot my Mandarin. YEA! What the heck, right? I used to do Mandarin speaking videos last time, there were no script at all, well… Not in grammatically correct Mandarin but still I could get the message across.

Today, I could only manage to come out with 1st sentence and got myself stuck in the second sentence onwards. I even requested to redo it twice but not successful. I forgot all those terms in Mandarin.

Good thing they didn’t ask me to do in our national language, I would end up with similar situation ;p Furthermore, I’m extremely rusty with it.

How silly I was?

I even prepared myself with what I want to tell the judges but forgot most of them that time. Luckily one of the judges reminded me of one of the thing I want to bring up but still… Didn’t manage to get all the points across to them.

One of them asked me whether I’m nervous or not, I admitted it. *LOL* Hell yeah! I was so super duper nervous else why I ended up like that!?!?

I shouldn’t be like that! Why am I so nervous and tensed? All these are nothing compare to what I had done before. Maybe it’s because this is a contest whereby people will be judging me so I was quite self-conscious until I forgot everything.

Oh well… What’s done is done, can’t blame anyone but myself. Say so much also no use hahaha… We’ll see if I still manage to be one of the top 16. Chances are very slim but at least I had fun and this is one interesting experience.

If I’m not mistaken, I’m the oldest there ;p

To my supporters, sorry to disappoint you people. Thanks for the supports *muaks*

Oh… If you don’t know yet, surprisingly I’m shortlisted for second interview for tHe Spring Ambassador Hunt. Tomorrow will be second interview.

Busy with many things today. Also having trouble in looking for clothes to wear tomorrow and what kind of make up I should be using because I have no idea what they want us to do and what they are looking for.

Going to sleep now! Can make it to top 16 or not? We’ll see how tomorrow.

Good night!

SCR Xpress @ tHe Spring

Posted on October 22, 2009October 22, 2009 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on SCR Xpress @ tHe Spring

Had our dinner at SCR Xpress @ tHe Spring few weeks ago. The place was so packed and it’s quite narrow too. Business seemed to be very good.

This is the chicken rice set that came with a glass of blackcurrant juice. They forgot our blackcurrant juice, reminded them so many times yet only came to us when we finished everything. The service was not efficient. It could be due to too many customers but how could this happen when all the customers that arrived later than us got all their drinks but not us. Even those that just sat down and ordered also got their drinks. I really don’t understand.

Besides chicken rice, there were also other type of food too.

Left: Mushroom & Cheese Fettuccine, so salty.

Right: Black Pepper Ramen, sweet only… Not much of black pepper taste.

Sadly, we didn’t have any good experiences with SCR Xpress that time. My dad said he is not going back anymore. I personally won’t go back too. I rather eat at the food court.

Now I understand why many people complain about it.

100 Yen

Posted on October 21, 2009October 21, 2009 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on 100 Yen

100 Yen is located at RH Plaza. They’re selling things from Japan for 100 yen unless specified. Went over to have a look few months back ;p Bought some of the foodstuffs.

Bought this instant yogurt mix, peach flavour(RM6.90).

All you need to do is add 150ml of milk to the content of the package, stir, and then place in the fridge for at least 15 minutes. I don’t remember the time. As simple as that. Quite nice. I’m thinking of buying blueberry flavour next time.

The instructions are in Japanese, as long that you know how to read Chinese character, then you won’t have problem understanding what the instructions are. There’s no English instructions.

I also bought pancake mix, I don’t remember the price, either RM5.90 or RM6.90

All you need to do is add milk and an egg. Mixing took quite a bit of time. I used Ideal milk rather than the normal milk coz wanted to try whether it will affect the taste or not. I don’t remember how much milk it required though.

The end result… The pancake was a bit dry inside, definitely not overcooked, I think it’s the milk that I used.

Anyway, if you would like to get some Japanese products, you can go there to have a look but don’t expect too much from it.

Lyn’s Thandoori Restaurant

Posted on October 20, 2009October 22, 2009 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Lyn’s Thandoori Restaurant

Lyn’s Thandoori Restaurant is one new place in Kuching serving north Indian cuisine. Actually it’s not new, it’s been operation for ages at Rubber Road. They moved. Now it’s located at the row of shops next to MAS Building @ Jalan Song Thian Cheok.

Left: Teh C Peng, this is the wrong order.

Right: Lassi(RM7), you can opt for the one with sugar, also same price. What is lassi? It’s yogurt. I ordered plain one. At first I was wondering what lassi was. If I’m not mistaken it’s yogurt but out of curiosity, I ordered it just to see whether is it really yogurt. It is! ;p I really didn’t know how it should look like and when they sent the Teh C Peng over, I thought, “Oh… Lassi is like that”. Then my bro drank it and said that it’s Teh C Peng! *LOL* They might hear wrongly because of the “si”.

Papadum and acar(not sure what they called ;p). This set is RM4. There were 8 pieces of papadum, quite salty. It’s made with chickpea or lentil flour. The acar was spicy enough but really need to get used to the taste. It’s just like acar that you get during Chinese New Year except different taste.

We didn’t order it, it will be given to you and charged to your bill just like you’re charged with the peanuts served to you in Chinese restaurant.

We only ordered two types of food. Luckily only ordered two, portion was rather big for us.

Beef and mutton Biriyani(RM12.50 for each). The rice used was Basmathi rice.

Beef Biriyani was fine but Mutton Biriyani was a bit of hassle to eat, we were given a knife to cut them up and it’s quite tough, happened to be the part where the tendon located.

These came with the biriyani. The pickle is too sourish for my liking but the curry(I refer this as curry, not sure about what the real thing is called) was not bad.

Personally, I think the prices were a bit steep for some food and drinks. Overall, it was quite OK, the environment wasn’t so bad.

I didn’t know that there’s 10% discount in My Privilege Book! ARG! If not, we would have save 10% from the bill.

Oh… Do you know they have a site for Lyn’s Thandoori Restaurant?

One more thing, this place is halal.
