Woken up by the sound of sirens at around 8am or before 8am, didn’t manage to check the time. At first I thought was some VVIPs on the road but the siren was going on and on, non-stop and getting more intense. I woke up, peeped tru’ the window, OMG! SMOKE!! FIRE!! The wooden house(s) was/were on fire! With the morning rush hour traffic and one lane road, it was making things pretty hard to handle for the firemen.
I’m back! Mind you… All my statements are merely from my observations and speculations. I do not know what was happening really. I won’t be making much comments else I’m going to get to be interviewed again like last time. Better save all the troubles and you ppl can assume whatever you like, I’m not responsible to any of your comment.

A: The bottleneck. People are still trying to use that road! The road should be blocked earlier on. I’m not sure when it started but I ignored the sirens for few minutes as I mentioned just now. This was taken not long after I woke up, 8.11am.
B: One lane road, one up, one down. Cars still coming from there and people still driving up to that road. Not far, there’s traffic light and it later jammed up the place. Furthermore many people like to park at the roadside of these two roads, how do you think the fire engine can have enough space to go into the road? Furthermore, there’s already a fire engine there earlier. The road was practically become one lane for two directions of traffics -.-”
C: The fire location. Not sure how bad was the damage but I think the top level of the building is gone. What left is the wall at the lower level.

See how the place started to get jammed?
There was already one fire engine arrived there earlier on. You can’t see it as it was already at the location. Later 2 more came which you can see in the videos.
Left: Firemen found the hydrant. It’s so far away! From one end to another end. -.-”
I thought there’s a fire hydrant near that place, I remember I always passed by that fire hydrant last time when I was still schooling. Maybe it’s not functioning. I saw several firemen walking around the area looking for something, most probably fire hydrant. How I know? I heard one fireman made a statement to another fireman saying, “HYDRANT! HYDRANT!” GOSH! I’m sure the fire department will be getting a grilling session soon by some political parties.
Well… It could be the nearest one was not enough for putting off fire so they have to look for other hydrants to speed up the job. I was not there, so I don’t know. I merely observed and made my own speculations.
The thing I don’t understand is that, they should know the exact locations. No?
Right: I tried to zoom into the wooden house that caught fire.

You see how long and how far they have to connect the hose?
Since the hose had to be laid over the road, they placed make shift bumps so that drivers/motorists won’t drive over the hose. This had posed challenge to many modified cars! *LOL* They mod their car so low that even small bump they had problem getting tru’.
This is higher one, summore it’s not whole stretch, it’s in pieces. So you can imagine! Finally, this BMW got stucked! One of the make shift bumps was stucked under his car (I think…). The policemen had to help by trying to free the make shift bump and helped pushed his car so that it won’t obstruct traffic. The car owner tried to inspect his car but couldn’t see anything coz it’s too low! ;p The photo here showing the “freed” car.
Good thing there’s no wind today but it’s a very hot day. If there’s wind, I really cannot imagine what will happen. Just see from the first photo, you can imagine, it will be a major fire! Whole island of fire -.-”
While I was observing, I saw many people rushed to the scene, they rushed back from work after getting the news. If I’m not mistaken, that place is rented to many people, many people loss their staying places and properties. Seeing the place you’ve been staying all these while with all your belongings now turned into ashes. It’s quite sad.
The videos are up. You will be able to see how the morning traffic caused problems to the fire engines at the bottleneck. Ignore the talking in the video. Just some random statement made by people.
Wonder what caused the fire. Gotta get a copy of BorneoPost tomorrow. 🙂
Yea… Don’t know cause it. Either short circuit or negligence.
