Lyn’s Thandoori Restaurant is one new place in Kuching serving north Indian cuisine. Actually it’s not new, it’s been operation for ages at Rubber Road. They moved. Now it’s located at the row of shops next to MAS Building @ Jalan Song Thian Cheok.
Left: Teh C Peng, this is the wrong order.
Right: Lassi(RM7), you can opt for the one with sugar, also same price. What is lassi? It’s yogurt. I ordered plain one. At first I was wondering what lassi was. If I’m not mistaken it’s yogurt but out of curiosity, I ordered it just to see whether is it really yogurt. It is! ;p I really didn’t know how it should look like and when they sent the Teh C Peng over, I thought, “Oh… Lassi is like that”. Then my bro drank it and said that it’s Teh C Peng! *LOL* They might hear wrongly because of the “si”.
Papadum and acar(not sure what they called ;p). This set is RM4. There were 8 pieces of papadum, quite salty. It’s made with chickpea or lentil flour. The acar was spicy enough but really need to get used to the taste. It’s just like acar that you get during Chinese New Year except different taste.
We didn’t order it, it will be given to you and charged to your bill just like you’re charged with the peanuts served to you in Chinese restaurant.
We only ordered two types of food. Luckily only ordered two, portion was rather big for us.
Beef and mutton Biriyani(RM12.50 for each). The rice used was Basmathi rice.
Beef Biriyani was fine but Mutton Biriyani was a bit of hassle to eat, we were given a knife to cut them up and it’s quite tough, happened to be the part where the tendon located.
These came with the biriyani. The pickle is too sourish for my liking but the curry(I refer this as curry, not sure about what the real thing is called) was not bad.
Personally, I think the prices were a bit steep for some food and drinks. Overall, it was quite OK, the environment wasn’t so bad.
I didn’t know that there’s 10% discount in My Privilege Book! ARG! If not, we would have save 10% from the bill.
Oh… Do you know they have a site for Lyn’s Thandoori Restaurant?
One more thing, this place is halal.
Thanks for the critical comment and we are really appreciate for your encouraging remarks. Hope to see you to enjoy a varieties of Lassi viz. Fresh Banana Lassi, Fresh Mango Lassi and Fresh Pineapple Lassi. They all sweet but if you really want to try something original, please try our Kerala Salty Lassy. It will invigorate your imagination.
Try our Baulty Mutton. The ingredients originate from dish served in Birmingham, England during the visit of Bill Clinton accompanied by Tony Blair.
Our varieties of Naans, try with Rogan Gosh, the mutton specialty.
We have changed the Mutton Biriyani to Lamb Biriyani which you do not need to use a chopper.
Papadum is a starter to engulf your imagination of your expectation of the Indian food you ordered. So, if it is a staled bites it doesn’t invigorates you. So the Papadum is deliberately made salty and served throughout the world where Indian operate Indian food outlet.
Unlike Chinese food which is for me is dull, Indian food is always salty, sourish and spicy which makes once life more interesting. It will also help ward of unwanted bacteria and virus from our body function.
Do you know every dish your order in our restaurant, we prepare the ingredients fresh and then cooked and served you on your table within reasonable time. You may compare this statement with other food outlet where most of the food are pre-cooked and displayed for you as well as innumerable number of flies to look at them. So, when the food are authentically prepared every single item on your order naturally the cost will tend to be look northward. On the other hand, the commune cooking will result the cost looking southward but they are all less hygienic and less likelihood of having full nutrition craved by our body needs, both for physical well being as well as to create better intelligent.
Hope to see you again with an open mind to enjoy Indian food. More the spicy, more the merrier your life would be.
Regards,
Mr. Mohan (Boss of the Lyn’s)
